rMail notification message

On another forum I post on you recieve a pop-up-like message when you receive a PM.  I think this would be a great device for RPoL.  In the past I have missed rMail because I didn't notice the blue font in the top corner.  I have also had other people miss my messages to them.  Since you aren't allowed to tell people you sent them an rMail, it's very important that the rMail notification is not so easy to miss.  At least that's what I think, but maybe the Gestapo don't agree (kidding of course :p ).

Re: rMail notification message

As well as the blue text, there is already a red pop up message in the middle of the main menu screen whenever you have unread rMail.

Re: rMail notification message

One of the problems I run into is when I use multiple computers or devices to access my games. Sometimes it seems like the notifications get confused. This was solved for me when I make sure to "logout" before I check my games from another computer.

Re: rMail notification message

I actually like the unobtrusive link below your forum lists rather than using an actual dialogue box, which then gives me the option to open up the rMail tab and I can never do that because of my pop-up settings. So the fact that it is treated like any other link works great for me :D

Re: rMail notification message

It's not really an issue of it working fine as is for some, or even most people.

I do not get a red pop-up message when I receive rMail.  I don't get an indicator that a pop-up has been blocked either.

Re: rMail notification message

There may be some terminology confusion here. I don't think the red unread rMail message in the middle of the main menu screen qualifies as a "pop up."

A "pop up" would be like what happens when you send a Private Message to Multiple Recipients. This has never happened to me as a result of rMail.

Re: rMail notification message

Are the rMail notifications still working on the responsive site?  I've been using exclusively that site, lately.  I've missed that I had new rMails.  I wouldn't say for certain that I didn't just miss them, but I know that I was using the Home link fairly frequently as I went through the forums that I follow, so I would think that I would notice if the rMail link was a different color or had a notice icon or whatever it does on the new site.

Edit:  Oh, there it is, just a pastel box over on the right.  Yeah.  I wouldn't have notice that if I weren't specifically looking for it.  I definitely prefer the nice, bright indicator on the old site, plus the rMail link itself being bolded.

Re: rMail notification message

The new Responsive site does not seem to notify you of RMail.
I have missed a few because I don't check it often.

And I only found out because I went to the old site and it alerted me.

Re: rMail notification message

How hard will it be that the rmail link at the top bar light up red if there are new rmails or the box at the right hand side show a red indicator or words?  Just asking... xx

Re: rMail notification message

Firstly there's nothing saying you can't tell someone there's an rMail waiting for them, though creating a message notification to tell them there's a message notification seems a little redundant and likely to be annoying.

As for the responsive site (which is where all future enhancements will be made), there's an entire menu that appears when you've got a new rMail message waiting.  This appears on the home page as well as on a limited number of forums, though this will be expanded to all main game and forum pages once the next update is done.

Re: rMail notification message

Right.  As I said above, I did (finally) notice that there's a new pastel colored box among the other pastel boxes.  Since I've pretty much learned to ignore the pastel boxes except when I specifically have a need for them, I didn't notice it.

In the main screen, I literally never use those, so I don't notice that a new one appeared.  Inside games, I do use them occasionally, but when I have a specific task in mind like going to the dice roller.  Otherwise, again, I ignore them.  In forums, I use them even less; only to 'Post a New Topic' which is very rare.  This well-trained ignoring of the pastel boxes is what caused me (and will in the future cause me) to miss that I have rMail waiting.

When I posted message #9, above, it was because I was specifically expecting some rMail, and STILL I missed it at first.  I had looked at the rMail link in the top menu bar, expecting it to be bolded and/or colored.
