Saving game threads as read only files offline

Hi, to me it would be awesome if you could save games or seperate threads as pdfs or other files that make it save able offline. Preferably also character names and portraits to fully capture the story.
I don't how easy that is to do but screencapturing them is a bit of a hassle and a cleaner way I feel is much needed.

Anyways let me know if this sounds like a good idea to you

Saving game threads as read only files offline

In the past I've just utilized the [all] at the top of threads to display everything on a single page, then "printed" the web page to a PDF printer.

It has worked fairly well and I've preferred it as an alternative to what's available via the D/L function for a game's GMs.

If you're the GM of a game, the download function (that 'D/L') will be a button in the upper righthand corner. It's only available to GMs.

If you're not the GM, you can set a thread to 'All' and then right-click on it to save as webpage, HTML only, which will let you view it even offline. I'm fairly certain this works with threads that have been deleted from RPoL, as well, but I only have a few saved that way and no way to know if they still exist in their respective games or not at this point.

JollyJormungandr:

It's a very bare bones display method to allow for copy/paste to capture all the salient information from the thread (posts, post numbers, etc) but is vastly inferior to just using most browser's 'Print Page/Save as PDF' function.

In reply to evileeyore (msg # 5):

Though it does include a number of display options, such as showing time stamps or character bios, separating posts with dashes and/or a space, and whether or not to show private lines in the finished page.

Yes, I was being brief by saying "all salient info".  Of course you get all that when you "Save as PDF" a thread as the GM or an archived thread as a Player (Private Lines and Language Group lines show up/translate in archival threads).
