Looking for a handful of mutants

This game is a direct continuation (with some tweaking here and there) of an old game that ran for 5+ years before it sadly died.

In the middle of ever growing and escalating conflict between humans and mutants, a super-weapon was detonated in Earth's orbit sending shockwaves rippling all over the planet that permanently stripped most mutants of their abilities and even affected some heroes with powers of a different nature. The blast was also the signal for an alien invasion force to start the attack on the planet.

The X-Men, Hellions, and X-Factor all suffered heavy losses but without time to tend to their wounds and help their members those who were unaffected by the weapon rallied together with S.W.O.R.D. and S.H.I.E.L.D. to stop the invasion.

When the dust settled the heroes found that being subjected to near-genocide and yet still being instrumental defending the Earth had a way of changing the public and several nation's opinions in their favor. Suddenly they were no longer feared or hated quite as much...

... but there were also quite fewer mutants for the world to worry about.

Mutant births stopped almost overnight and soon it became clear that with the new friendly attitude towards their people and the lack of a new generation to train the X-Men were not needed anymore so the team was disbanded. Members were their separate ways to carry on with, or in some cases, rebuild their previous lives and all the assets and technologies were re-acquired by Xavier's X-Corporation, an NGO created by the X-Men's founder with the same mission, to defend mutants rights.

Five years have passed since then and new mutants are starting to manifest again.

So far it is only a few occurrences here and there, nothing that X-Corp can't handle but everyone knows it's only a matter of time until mutant population starts to surge again and this time the world nations want to be ready for it.

S.H.I.E.L.D. director Maria Hill and Charles Xavier himself convinced the UN Security Council to take a radical new approach by passing a resolution to repurpose an abandoned research base on an island off the coast of the United States and handed over ownership of the base as well as the island itself to the X-Corporation. It is now under the protection of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the United Nations and no country has claim or rights over it.

It is a school for newly manifested mutants to learn about their abilities. A safe haven for anyone, mutant or human, that needs one. Home and base of operations for the newly reformed X-Men. And, hopefully in time, proof that Xavier's dream is not impossible.

To some, it is the precursor to a concentration camp. Lock all the mutants there while armed forces watch them for the slightest hint of trouble.

To others, it is the chance to build something new and show the world that mutants and humans can live together in harmony helping each other.

We lost a couple players due to real-life issues so we're looking for 2 or 3 more interested writers :D.

Currently, there's some social interaction going on and a teamwork training mission so it's a pretty good spot to join before the first actual mission/scene kicks in.

Looking for a handful of mutants

Slightly over 3 years later and we're looking for players again :D.

Looking for a couple players to join our X-Men themed game. The game is currently in the downtime in between finishing the previous plot and potentially starting the next one eventually so it's a pretty easy place to have new characters join (though working introductions into plots is always an open option).

It is not your standard school type game.
The canon isn't exactly inline with modern marvel either as the base is a game that's started in ~2008 then plots and player-driven event drove the current status to what it is. Because of that original characters are easier to work in than some canon characters but just send us your idea and we'll me more than happy to work together :D.

There are a couple public threads with a lot of information and a better explanation of what we're looking for then there's also an RTJ template you should see right away with more info.

Thanks! ^_^.

Looking for a handful of mutants

Due to the usual attrition that sadly happens in these kind of setting we're looking for one more player who might want to join.

The setting is not the usual school-based X-Men game but hopefully there's more than enough info in the public threads and RTJ thread to get a good enough idea of whether it would be something interesting for someone or not... and if not just feel free to reach out and we'll do the best we can :D.

Thanks!.

Hello, I just made an account on here, so I'm not really sure how this works, but this game looks interesting. Could I join in? Also, since it's only been a few years since the mutants were wiped out, would the new mutants be small children?

Hey! Sorry we didn't see this before. rpol doesn't notify us on replies here.

You have the game link at the top. Go there and besides all the info you'll see a "request to join" button.

Looking for a handful of mutants

Hello hello!,

The game is approaching a bit of a downtime and since that would be a good place to introduce new characters we're looking for a couple players interested in being part of an X-Men themed game!.

Its a freeform game in which we aim to write cool stories and try to focus a lot on character development (both individually and as a team). Conflict is usually resolved by working on a suitable outcome with the GMs or other players rather than rolling a dice and see what happens (though that's totally an option when parties agree :P).

Some details about the game.
  • X-Men themed so we're focusing on mutants. No supersoldiers, wizards, techies at the moment.
  • The mutants have their own island but its not based on the more current comics.
  • We're looking for 'students' but not in the sense of teenagers. More like people either new to their powers or who want to further their training or similar motivations. Yes, there will be a gap with the more established characters but that's only temporary as we encourage characters to grow.
  • Characters can be any age from 18+. No need to stick to teenagers.
  • Another thing we encourage a lot is for players to be proactive. Got any interesting plots in mind? Tell us. Wanna have your character take an important role in the island's day to day life (mechanic, grow crops, politics, medic, whatever)? Yes please! Life isn't just combat and near death experiences :P.

Some ingame events that just happened:
  • A container ship got hijacked by mutant terrorists and a team of X-Men had to step in (did I mention we have a boat? :P).
  • Another group went to a social event to highlight the good work X-Corp and the X-Men are doing... to no one surprise's the event was attacked by human supremacists resulting in an X-Man getting seriously injured.
  • Xavier's Mansion, now just a school for a handful of mutants was attacked by the same faction at the same time and the heroes had to step in to protect the students and keep the resources there from falling into the wrong hands.

Sounds interesting? Head to the board, take a look around and hit us up!.
