DnD 5e - Storm King's Thunder (Homebrew Campaign)
Triboar has fallen to a massive Fire Giant raid. Though the party was too late to stop the Giants assault themselves, their assistance saved many lives, and Triboar will recover. In wake of this attack, the Alliance has called for a Lordsmoot, as the cities of the Sword Coast prepare for war.
Now, the party must seek out answers to these events, and learn what is it that has the giant race in such a frenzy. What are the plans of the Giant Lords and their kin? Where are the Storm Giants, rulers of the six tribes? How was the Ordning broken, and can it still be restored?
Holy carp its been 3 years.
We have a good core group going, but time, RL and scheduling has whittled the party down to 3. I'm looking for a 4th player, ideally an arcanist, to round out the group.
More important than the character though, I'm hoping for a player who is 1) able to stick with the group in the long run (at our current pace, the game has at least 3-4 years more in it) 2) able to post daily or semi-daily 3) at a quality that isn't just reacting to and observing events i.e. actually tries to advance the plot.
Character concepts, power level and balance are all secondary.
Our current game is pretty high on RP with a focus on PC-PC and PC-NPC banter/relations, alongside a good dose of cinematic (and occasionally difficult) combat. As a DM I believe that mechanics should support the players and the story, and design my encounters and challenges as such. Recently, we've been trying to put more emphasis on things players enjoy (NPC interactions, exploration, plot) and using OOC/rolls to streamline administrative things (travel, item selling, non-critical info gathering, crafting...etc). We also communicate a lot OOC via PMs on preferences, intents and short/long-term goals to ensure everyones on the same page (e.g. expressing a strong desire for particular magic items, looking for ways to integrate multiclassing choices in future level ups into the story so it doesn't seem too out of the blue, or running weird encounter shenanigans past the GM to see what we can work with instead of trying to ambush me with them).
We are in a slow period right now with the loss of players and are looking to do a soft "refresh" with the next arc, which is a perfect time for someone new to join. If this sounds like the type of game where you'd be a good fit, do drop me an RTJ!
I will be accepting RTJs until Sunday, 27th Feb 2359 PST time and will make my final decision sometime next week. Make sure to read the recruitment notices in the game itself!
