I've done it before, and here I am again, running a 4E D&D game. I've figured out a lot of shortcuts to streamline things -- some of you may have played in a 4E game with me before, so you may recall
- Graphical battle-maps, with character and monster tokens, images for spell effects, changing terrain
- A full combat table that allows players to know the exact state of battles at all times
- Colorful descriptions, NPCs actually worth paying attention to
- Shortcuts where the game needs it for PbP; detail where the game benefits from it
- Full use of RPoL's features -- language groups, private/secret lines, formatting, thread groups, PMs
So what's all this about? I'm running a relatively short FR campaign using 4E D&D. It's going to start with
The Slaying Stone, adapted to the Realms. From there, it'll segue into
The Scepter Tower of Spellgard and then on to
Orcs of Stonefang Pass.
That's enough material to run to about 6th level, and currently I don't plan on going past that. I
might do more, but that depends on how things are going at the time.
I need two dedicated players with at least a passing knowledge of 4th-edition D&D. (I usually make allowances for newcomers, but this time I don't want to have to slow things down to teach the game.) Posting should be pretty frequent, at least two or three times a week.
EDIT: Got the two I needed already. As I usually do, I welcome lurkers -- they get preferential treatment should a slot open up, and sometimes I use them to play recurring NPCs or side characters (like familiars).
