Be an Anime Ninja, do Anime Ninja things
Update: the game started
We're still getting to know the characters and engaging in some last-minute learning before seeing who has the chops to become a ninja.
The game will start... adjacent to the canon Naruto events up to the 4th Shinobi World war, then just about everything will go sideways.
We have a character creation that more or less manages to work, and the setting has been voted for (it will be a mostly new world to explore, and characters will most likely stumble on a technology level higher than what they're used to).
I have 4 players, so all my basic needs are covered. I would like to find myself a couple more in order to be on the safe side for the usual rpol attrition.
Bonus points for ladies, malus points for more Uchihas - but neither is a dealbreaker, so if you have ideas feel free to shoot them.
IMPORTANT: this game will feature CROSSOVER ELEMENTS and SILLINESS - keep reading for the details, but if you know you don't like them I'm saving you the time.
But what am I proposing?
I'm proposing a game based on the Naruto D20 ruleset, heavily tweaked (because I hate myself) to fit with the Pathfinder rules instead of the D20 Modern ones.
It will run either parallel to the main Naruto storyline or be set past the 4th Shinobi World War in an entirely custom setting (this is one of the choices you'll have to help with)
In either case, the game will start with characters as academy-level ninjas shortly before they become Genin (or, if you really insist, equivalent Samurai), and from there we'll see how it goes as it opens up.
Mechanically, I'll be taking an axe to the progression systems: your character level will simply determine the caps for your sheet, but the actual values will be entirely dependent on training and experience. I might need some help on properly balancing this.
There will be downtime and timeskips: I'd like for your characters to reach at least the 17-18 age range within an acceptable timeframe.
More importantly, this game is supposed to be the base for some pretty heavy crossover elements. Long-term you can expect Hollows, mecha and general weirdness; even with that, I want the characters to take themselves somewhat seriously and stay internally consistent even as players giggle at the kitchen-sink mess. I promise to do the same to the storyline.
