Everyone knows that magic and monsters aren't real, right?  Everything has a scientific explanation, or it's all in your head...Except it's not.

For centuries, in the shadows, wizards, sorcerers, faeries, monsters, demons, and beings beyond comprehension have walked the earth, going about their business while avoiding the attention of mortal society as best they could.  Sure, some legends have spread, but really, who would take that to heart?

It all changed a few years ago in Chicago.  An army of monsters, led by a Titan of myth, invaded the world, and shattered the polite fictions that let monstrous and mundane co-exist in relative harmony.

In the past few years, though the government has merely indicated that things are "under control" rumors leak from every corner of all sorts of things people once thought were nothing more than stories, but now?  They're wondering...and planning.

When anyone thinks of Salem, Massachusetts, the first thing that comes to mind is, of course, witches.  For decades, Salem profited off the infamy of the Salem Witch Trials, and turned their city into a minor mecca to the arcane.  In some ways, the upheaval in the world around them has been both beneficial and harmful for it.

On the one hand, with the knowledge that monsters and magic are real, tourism has absolutely exploded, for people fascinated by the idea that maybe the Witch Trials weren't as fabricated as they seemed.  That there could be a chance of rubbing elbows with the otherworldly out on the streets.  People flock to Salem in droves, hoping to find that some of the witches and psychics plying their trade are the Real Deal.

On the other hand, a movement is rising in Salem.  There are mutterings in dark corners that with all the revelations about the world, maybe some new Witch Hunts wouldn't be a terrible idea...and where better to start than the very heart of America's love of witchery?

And in the shadows, forces plot their plots, working through all sorts of plans, benign and baleful, for how to influence the world through the City, all beneath unseeing eyes.
