As Adam and Lindsey stepped out of the complex, hand in hand, Lindsey stopped up short. The there were still players and reporters out in the parking lot. The players didn't bother her one bit, but she was leery of a bunch of second string reporters coming to get statements. Adam would be just fine, and so would she, honestly, but she wasn't used to being on the receiving end of the questions. Whether it was because she was on Adam's arm or because of the already teased expose, she was becoming a minor celebrity and she had to learn how to handle that.

Adam didn't seem at all phased, he just kept walking, pulling her along. She knew he'd ask what was wrong if she pulled back, so she just took an extra long step to catch up to his stride and hoped his car was near.

Up ahead she noticed the long and very expensive white luxury sedan parked off to the side with flanking guards. It seemed oddly out of place and she couldn't think of who that might be. The Amotas weren't so ostentatious, so someone else who felt the need to flash their wealth and status had come to visit.

Lindsey tugged on Adams hand. When he looked over at her with a question mark over his head, she pointed at the car. "Who do you think that is?"

Lindsey's head was spinning. The visitor in the white car was Max Fline, and Linda was with him? She pulled out her phone. Max sent her a text earlier with no actual message, but Linda said that she used Max's phone to call Adam. Was that text really from Linda? What the hell was going on? Why were they here? For a woman who was caught lying so blatantly, Linda had a lot of nerve showing up here. What could she possibly hope to gain? Lindsey had so many questions about this spectacle, but she knew it was just better if she stayed quiet and let Adam handle it.

Linda was almost convincing. She sounded remorseful, but she was an actress. What situation was she holding in her head to bring out that emotion. It wasn't remorse for hurting Adam. If that was her guilt, she wouldn't have shown up here to play this out in public. She could easily have sent him a text or voice mail from her own phone. No matter where it was, she could have had it transferred to a new phone, or with her money, had her own phone delivered to her instead of flying herself and Max to Jacksonville. All of Lindsey's instincts told her that this was a publicity stunt. She had her own public image, and Adam catching her jet-setting with her older co-star was bad for it. This was all designed to make her look like the jilted lover and Adam to be the womanizing pig who cast her aside for the next hot thing. Lindsey did not like her role in this made for Lifetime drama.

Adam was playing it cool, but he had a hard edge in his voice. He didn't sound angry, just... icy. While his show of disinterest was pretty convincing, Lindsey felt that underneath, he was hurt and angry. The taunts and jibes he was casting at Max told a different story, and she had absolutely no doubt he meant it when he said he would deliberately crash the Bugatti. That would be a disaster. Not only would it cost him a lot of money, he could be charged criminally, and... She looked around at all the reporters watching on... the press would be brutal. Adam was playing into their hands, and the fact that Linda was so willing to smear him for her own sick reputation, made her possibly the most vile bitch on the planet.

It was done. There was nothing Lindsey could do in that moment to stop this charade from playing out. Maybe she could help him do damage control after the attack pieces started to circulate, but anything she did in that moment would only make it worse. Clawing Linda's eyes out was not an option.

Thankfully, as Adam prepared to get in his car, Yuto came to evict them with the threat of towing their car. Linda actually tried to leverage whatever relationship she had with him, but he completely ignored her. He seemed to know how bad this could go, and he came with the perfect water cannon.

Lindsey was so glad to finally be safely in the car. Her heart was pounding, but it wasn't just concern, it was also a fair amount of rage. She needed that drink now, but she would have to wait the duration of the drive. At least it would be a drive with just the two of them.

She stayed laying on his shoulder until he took it back to drive.

"Yeap, busy day." She sat straight back up in her seat. "It was fun and very crammed with things to do. I don't remember Cindy ever rushing around like I did today. Then again, I don't think she had the opportunity to bring down a football team and help create a populist heroine all in one day. Bob was great, the Studio team was fantastic, Echo Bill turned out to be really insightful, and Tim and Artie are my new best Pals. Thanks for that by the way. I followed your advice on where to go and when. I don't think I even came near Winnie." She shrugged. "I think Coach Sims likes me more, and Steele hates me. And Lu-Ti and Heather both came to threaten my life if I hurt you." She laughed. Lindsey's eyes fluttered when Adam's lips touched hers. She leaned into the kiss, rubbing his arm and shoulder. When it broke, she leaned in further as if to recapture it, taking a deep breath when she couldn't. "Let's go ahead and make it more worthwhile." She put her hand behind his head and pulled him in for second kiss. This one had a little more fire, and lasted twice as long.

"We'll never make inside to watch if we keep going." She touched her forehead to his, then unbuckled. "Come on, I want to see how the Football Network reacts to the interviews. Then we can have a victory party at my place." She smiled.

Knowing Adam would want to open the door for her, Lindsey waited. He took her hand to help her out of the vehicle and then went hand in hand into the Applebees. It was a weekday, but it was also dinner time. There was a decent crowd in the restaurant, but no wait. Lindsey preferred the high tops in the bar area, so the hostess brought them to the one in the corner as she requested. As they were seated, Lindsey requested that the nearest television be changed from MMA to her station. Within a few minutes, she had her Daiquiri and Adam had his soda.

"To a strange and wonderful 24 hours." She raised her glass.
