In other news, went from desultory chat about "Maybe we should take a cruise" this morning to a fully-booked 14-day cruise over Christmas & New Year to the Canary Islands, in a suite no less, this afternoon! I still cannot quite believe it.

Speaking of Christmas, my favorite team is coming to my city...on Christmas Day. Why? Why do they do this to me?

 ok..funny stories.

 My Late  Mother  In law, really never liked me a bunch ( i was a Hungarian Catholic, they were   English-PA Dutch brethren)

  two of her Son-in-law were rich..including the one who is a very successful and very Illegal plumber   guy..the others  were not good...the Sons  were pretty good  guys, but...not my kind of people..I am a sports guy, not  a hunter, though, i used to fish alot as a kid..

 Anyway... we had a Christmas party at their church   for their family ( i'm talking  40 or more people )..BUT.. the steelers  were playing  and it was a play off important game..

 I'm a Jets Fans, I'll root  for the Steerles as long as it doesn;t interfer with the jets...anyway...they liked  the steelers.. they didn't know as much as i did, they were Steeler Fans, not football fans... but..one of them went  down to my MIL's house, brought the TV from , what was my  late Wife's bedroom, and we set it up at the Hall... needless to say, alot of  the  wifes balmed me..My wife  just laughed, because she knew it wasn't my fault...

at the end of the night, i said..."next time, check the  schedule'

And that does sound like a win. Though ever since the days of DVR, I generally haven't ever felt the need to have sports get in the way of other stuff. Even playoff games - I've recorded plenty of them.

Naw?.. if its not live, its no fun...especially if some  idiot tells you the score or some record was broke  ect ect

I go into blackout mode when I'm recording something. It helps a lot that I don't live remotely close to where my team plays. Like I'm not going to wander around LA and suddenly hear someone talking Broncos. Well, it's possible but unlikely.

Although I say that, and the worst example of spoilage was when the Jags beat the Broncos in the '96 AFC Divisional round. Extra funny because of the team on which Rock now plays. How I heard it was entirely random.

These days, I text everyone that might spoil something for me and let them know I'm on delay. It works, and I still fully enjoy it on delay.

I must confess... when planning my wedding I checked the Rugby International schedule. Not only did I quite enjoy watching (I had a ticket for the stadium, long since sold on), we wanted to use the hotel the teams use for the reception!
