Crime and Chaos in an alternate Saints Row 4+

Crime and Chaos is modelled on the notion that if people want to play some approximation of GTA or Saints Row 3-ish on a tabletop, they can take a stab at my game. (Links will be provided when enough apply for me to make the game)
Ideally I'm looking for about 3-4 Canonized.

Setting:
  • Saints Row 3 happened
  • Saints Row 4 was a TV show, and Gat out of Hell was a halloween special mini-series. Enter the Dominatrix was softcore porn.
  • Agents of Mayhem was a spin-off from the combined conclusions of both
  • The real "Playa", and his/her highest ranked lieutenants come up missing
  • The characters in this game are Canonized sent to an S alliterative city--tentatively called San Angelos.--to find Boss and Crew
Content:
  • This game is ADULT Mostly for violence, but sexuality is a thing in a game that features a giant purple dildo and a gimp suit.
  • LGBTQ neutral. I can accept trans and non-heteronormative sexuality and gendered players, but I'm not especially good with MxM because I'm female centric and I just sort of draw a blank when I try.
  • Certain NPCs may have opinions I don't. The book is also written in that tone. Characters taking certain Disadvantages practically guarantees it, though I hope it is conveyed and perceived as tasteful or at least in genre where applicable.
  • I intend on generally not fading to black, but want to respect any boundaries applicants have.
System
  • Uses 2d10+Attribute for the primary resolution mechanic
  • Attributes inspired by GTA V Online
  • Uses a point based Advantage and Disadvantage system inspired by Saints Row 3+
  • Tracks advancement through medals like GTA V and Saints Row 4

So this was originally posted to another forum that doesn't have the amazing dice roller RPoL has, and I didn't realize I'd left the dice roller/discord thing in. In any case, yeah, the book's on the discord but everything else will be here.

Count me interested. I've been itching for a Saints Row game for years now. I prefer the not quite as crazy tone of 2 over 3, but happy to have 4 be declared non-canon.

You mention going to a new city to find the Boss, but what sorts of things are the PCs going to be doing? Would there be much/any gaining/defending territory? That's rather my favourite part of the Saints Row series even if there isn't much defending in game.

Is primary inspiration from 3 a deal breaker for you?

Which specific side missions are available is up for discussion. I do want to have... someone--I haven't decided yet who--orchestrate having you guys get Jumped In, or as the Saints call it in SR 1, Canonized. Leaning toward Oleg. I'm happy to let some side missions be somewhat determined by the player.

Gaining territory is a must. The group will be going to the completely new town, which I'm tentatively calling San Angelos, inspired by LA obviously. I will probably have people call in about territories that are being attacked at random, but it'll be more like Saints Row 3 where ignoring the call or failing to get there in time won't result in the loss of the territory.

Further thoughts on the premise led me to formulate the idea that the reason Boss and Crew went to San Angelos in the first place, is so they could prospect for better production value on their various media pursuits--both the ones mentioned above, and potentially Nyte Blade. There might be some unique missions involving filming that are similar to Fuzz missions or kind of the opposite of Escort missions, where you drive around doing cool... things, but not getting too far away from your camera crew who films it for B-roll or stunts, so you're actually TRYING to get footage.

Given how I have Complex Actions written into the system, they would work perfectly for simulating the series' Snatch, Trafficking, and Escort missions, but Tiger Escorts are too far fetched. Trailblazing is also probably a bit far fetched, but Cyberblazing seems like it could be adapted to work, even though it wouldn't translate directly (The number of checkpoints being different than the number of legs a standard Complex Action can take). Will do or have as options to do most of the other activities. On the fence about Super Ethical Reality Climax, Insurance Fraud, Septic Avenger, and Crowd Control--if I do any of them, they probably won't be for territory gains.

Streaking probably won't be a diversion in the game, but I might give a nod to it with random passersby taking enough interest in a character to give them a little dosh. Sexual Healing is literally written into the system, so the Ho-ing diversion could be a valid way to pass time, and a good excuse to as noted, not fade to black. Probably won't do any collectibles missions, or go into great detail about areas that need a Saints Row tag unless players specifically make focusing on those important to their characters.

It isn't, and from your description of which diversions you're thinking of including/not including you're leaning away from some of the far out things anyway. Otherwise it's just my preference of the tone of 2 over 3, and I very much enjoyed 3 so no problem :)

Your other responses covered off my other thoughts - I wasn't expecting all the diversions, or even any specifically, but sounds good. Depending on your system, Super Ethical Reality Climax could basically be a combat activity.

Great!

I don't know if I will do all of them, but if they come up, I do have ideas for them. That being said, my concern with Super Ethical Reality Climax is less "how do I do this" and more "Is it a necessary addition to all the other combat?" or at least "is it distinguished enough from regular combat to merit focus upon it?" Tabletops are more objective driven, so the combats that mean something feel preferable to those that don't.
