IC: Masks A New Generation

After fairly recently discovering a love of Powered by the Apocalypse derived games, and having an abiding love of superhero games, I've invested in the Masks: A New Generation books and have just been blown away by the system so would really like to take it for a spin.

So...is there any interest in a game? I'm thinking something fairly close in tone to that set out in the main rulebook - mostly four colour superhero action (cheesily named themed villains with dastardly plans!) with the occasional 'darker' villain or situation to add a little bit more drama to events. Generally quite light and dangerously close to tongue in cheek!

I'm thinking the play by post format will actually give a good opportunity to have more indivdual or small group storylines, especially with the personal life side of things, as they can be all be dealt with in concert in a way they can't be at the table.

In terms of plotlines I would aim for something a bit like the supers TV shows of the last few years. A mix of 'villain of the week' (who obviously then come back further down the line, usually teaming up with other nefarious characters) with a couple of bigger, ongoing plotlines thrown in around them for good measure.

Any interest in something like that?

I would be greatly interested in trying this out! Any particular styles of super hero games you are trying to aim for in the campaign? (like student academy, gritty street level, cosmic, etc)

Always interested in Masks.
(I'm running three games of it, one here.)

I would be very interested in this. I've wanted more experience with the system to potentially teach to family, so this would be lovely.

Is this a game open to folks who don't have the book?  :)

IC: Masks A New Generation

I just finished running a Masks season via Discord. Such a great game. It's more 'teen drama' flavored by superheroics than it is a superhero game, but it is fantastic none the less!

Re: IC: Masks A New Generation

Also interested, now that it looks like I will have more time soon.

By the way: would you allow non-core playbooks?

Re: IC: Masks A New Generation

Wow, that's a lot of interest. More than enough to warrant setting something up so I'll create a game and drop a note on here when it's ready.

To answer a couple of questions that were raised:

Definitely not student academy (though some characters will likely be in 'regular' school/college as that's the nature of the game) but then slightly more powered than street level and much less powered than cosmic. I suppose if pushed what I would have in mind I would  describe as 'classic spider-man' - threats that range from bank robberies to "the city is in peril" but probably nothing world destroying and mostly fairly light in tone.

Yes, I'd be willing to run almost anything from the four official books with a couple of exceptions due to either the fact I don't like them as a concept (Joined and Nomad) or I don't think they fit with what I have in mind (Soldier). Actually, that's probably about all of the one's I'm not keen on.
