IC: 7th Sea 2nd Edition

I was just wondering if there's much interest in some swashbuckling fun courtesy of 7th Sea?

I know if gets some flak but I've always quite liked the very narrative style of 2nd Edition and, though haven't tried it, think it will work better in PbP than the rather clunkier 1st Edition rules.

Theah would be a slightly different place than 2nd Ed as published simply because I loved some of the lore and NPCs they left out from 1st Ed and would shuffle that back in but it will be entirely accessible to people entirely unfamiliar with 1st Ed and much of it likely not to affect the game greatly.

Interest in 7th sea? Absolutely, but honestly I prefer 1st edition to 2nd. The streamlined rules just minimized too much and left characters feeling indistinct, IMHO.

The second edition rules facilitate storytelling. They moved from old school situationist style to story/narrative focused style. It's no longer 'can I do XXX' when the dice are rolled, but it is now 'what happens when I do XXX'. Big shift and IMHO better for crafting stories.

Having said that, I loved the first edition lore. I loved the metaplot, loved the fact that different groups had different knowledge about the metaplot (not all of it accurate).

I would be interested, although I have never actually played either edition.  I read through at least some of 1st Ed back when the world was young and dinosaurs roamed the Earth.

I would be SOOOOO up for playing instead of running 7th Sea for once!

I'm rusty on the lore, but I know what 7th Sea is, and it sounds like fun.

Well that looks like plenty of interest, more than enough to warrant setting something up so I'll put a board together in the next day or two then link to it here.

Happy to take on newbies to the system (or the lore). There's a very solid quickstart guide freely available on the Chaosium website which sets out all the rules and a basic overview of the setting.

Game up now, you can find it here link to another game

Board still a bit of a work in progress but should be enough to get RTJs going.
