Hello. Thank you for taking the time to check out my thread.

Basically, I'm trying to gauge interest for a game using the Dungeons & Dragons 5e rules set in the Forgotten Realms.

However I'm not very current on what's what in the Realms these days - most of my knowledge comes from novels from the '80s and '90s, and the Infinity Engine games, particularly the Baldur's Gate series, so it would using the Forgotten Realms from that era. More or less - I'm not a loremaster so there might be some inconsistencies and inaccuracies. If it matters to anyone the date would be 1369 DR, I guess. I read on a Forgotten Realms wiki that's the date the expansion that concludes the Baldur's Gate games takes place in. It's not needed to know anything about the games or to have played them.

Obviously we're not allowed character creation so I don't mention this for that reason, but I was thinking of having the characters start at level 3.

The starting hook is that the player characters are hired on to help an Elf retrieve his family Moonblade. He believes it has fallen into the hands of a pirate captain operating out of the Nelanther Isles.

I'm always interested in D&D 5e and FR regardless of era. I'd guess you'd get a lot of interest since the system is pretty popular.

I am running Dragon heist offline, but I'd be up for sharing my knowledge with the group. I have done quite a bit of research on Waterdeep

Definitely interested.  Can't go wrong with pirates if you ask me.

Much like JxJxA, I'm always interested in 5e and FR games. I will say, however, that I prefer to have my PCs start out at 1st level and develop both character and power as a result of their adventures.

There's always interest in 5e, and I suspect Fr is the default setting most of the time. :)

I'd be interested. One of the games I've lost was a long-running 2e campaign set on and around the Sea of Stars, so another nautically based game would be nice to fill that lack.

Definitely interested. I have very fond memories of the Baldur's Gate games. :-)

I would probably starting at 1st level but 3rd level works too.
