Favored enemy your own race (Pathfinder/D&D)
I read somewhere that you have to be evil to have as your favored enemy your own race, but I can't find where I read this. Can you guys help find it? How many of you stick to this rule?

Favored enemy your own race (Pathfinder/D&D)
Was a thing in 3rd Edition, removed in 3.5. From the 3.0 SRD:

quote:
At 1st level, a ranger may select a type of creature as a favored enemy. (A ranger can only select his own race as a favored enemy if he is evil.)

From the 3.5 SRD:

quote:
At 1st level, a ranger may select a type of creature from among those given on Table: Ranger Favored Enemies.

As you can see, the parenthetical text is conspicuously absent.
