Re: Exploring the Tower.

Rubus Elann:
Ligeia begins reminding Rubus with a sharp middle fingerflick to his (wooden) head. "Where's the scroll of Remove Curse," she asks, having attracted his attention.

Uh, oh, yes, ah, of course! Forgive me. He rummages around in his backpack and brings forth the the scroll. I guess this is as good a time as any. He reads the scroll with any necessary ritual and is left with a blank scroll.

As Rubus reads the scroll aloud, the sword that Gorn is holding and the general area of the tower begin to glow in a pure white light.  The Scriptural Characters on the page also seem to glow with the same light as they are read, and then the letters disappear.

Oddly the area of the tower and a little bit beyond it seem to have no green mist flowing through it anymore. Patches of sunlight drift down over this tower.

(All do a 2d6+WIS check)

Gorn tries to drop his sword and can now.

Hmmm that's better. I wonder if I might try to wield the sword you picked up Ligeia. I am trained well in this weapon and it seems a fine blade.

Afamrail takes the coin the silver dagger and the spellbook.

Well here's a little gem you don't find everyday, some spells I haven't seen before in here.

Has anyone check our Aelfan friend yet?  Maybe one of you guys should don some of that armor, would help you in a fight Rubus.

Re: Exploring the Tower.

Without a second thought, Ligeia hands the blade over to Gorn. She breathes a sigh of relief. She had been that close to becoming some kind of insufferable paladin. The two divine scrolls, she forces on Rubus. As for herself, she keeps the spyglass.

As sunbeams start to find this Blackwell tower, she pronounces with satisfaction that she doesn't think the black knight will "trouble us within these consecrated grounds." Then, she grimaces. Was it already too late? Had merely holding the cursed sword been enough?

Hastily, she turns her attention to the other chest to see what it might require.

16:39, Today: Ligeia Strand rolled 10 using 2d6+5.  wis check.

16:57, Today: Rubus Elann rolled 14 using 2d6+5.  WIS.

Rubus perforce takes and stows the scrolls. He asks Gorn Did you get a feeling that the sword misses sometimes or all the time. I believe you said "sometimes".

I could hit with that but it seemed to make me miss often.  Thankfully, I was able to get rid of it now, but I wouldn't pick it up again.

Re: Exploring the Tower.

Clearly the power of the dark knight who held it affected the sword.  I haven't seen Gorn acting oddly though.

I did not hear anything.

Shrugs... she goes over to examine the Aelfan undead's items.

If nobody is going to take any armor. I might don some.

Re: Exploring the Tower.

Thank you, Gorn. Yes, I was hoping it could be made use of by something that would try to use it to kill us, but I now agree with you to let it lie.

Rubus nods. Yes, I heard as a sound or something impacting my brain. A deep dark growl. As a possibly wild guess, a sound made by an entity that's causing all this or is part of all this...something held in place, maybe. Or it could be that all this is alive, in  sense, in a way. My speculations are not much help, but I hope, as the saying goes, "Every little bit helps.".

Afamrail finds the following on the Aelfan

Chain Mail Armor
Wooden Staff
Brown cloak(owl insignia)
2wks vegetarian rations
5 throwing daggers
Gourd canteen
Rope - 25ft
5gp, 38sp, and 4cp in leather pouch
a strange book with runes translated into common that appears to be some kind of druidic knowledge.

Re: Exploring the Tower.

Hmm so it would seem that is the symbol of the watchers, though I do not know this Aelfan.

It's odd, we still don't really know what killed these people.
I want to use my tracking skills to see what I can find out.

Gorn begins looking through the room and up the stairs.

After he gets uop the stairs and spends a little while looking about he grips the hilt of his new sword.

something .. big.. came down these stairs.. something with large claws.. and then it made off with this one..
*he points to the blood on the stairs, then looks up the stairs nervously into the din of the room above*

whatever it was bested all of them.

While examining the other chest, Ligeia turns back to agree, "I think we've been noticed. Something has taken notice of us. Even more notice than it had before."

That second chest?

Jenouise looked at the contents of the second chest, a pout coming to her lips. The contents didn't really look like much from her perspective. "What...did you hear, Alaric?" She asked, looking over to him with those bright blue eyes.

Ligeia pockets everything from the second chest save for the large pinecones. Maybe if they have been smaller.
Jen:

"On that note," she agrees. "Let's get out of here."

She turns to Gorn, "What do you think of circling the manor by following the wall? When we've finished, we can pick a direct line of approach."

Rubus improvises a bag from the corpses' clothes and puts the pinecones therein*.

(Assuming the clothes are in a  state that allows this)

This seems a plausible plan, did you wish to open the trap door ?  Which wall did you wish to follow, north, east, west?

Rubus looks around. For some reason—or maybe lack of reason—I'm in favor of opening the trap door and seeing what's down there. Passageways, I expect.
