Version 1.9.54

Major:
  • Created wiki.rpol.net - half traditional wiki, half game wiki (with security).
  • Added 16 more groups.
  • Simultaneous post detection - Detects if a message has been posted (or removed) from the thread while you're composing.
  • Preview now allows immediate re-editing.
  • Major reorganisation of the style sheets.
  • Custom site themes, available from User Preferences.  Overrides special day themes.
  • Gave users the ability to disable text colouring within messages, done from your custom theme.
  • Added [Secret to character/group:..] code, like private messages but no visual clue is given to recipients that it is a private message.  GMs only.
  • Added per player per game settings; currently only one setting exists - whether new posts default to using your primary character (helpful for GMs and those with more than one character in a game).

Minor:
  • Rolled dice can now be different colours, for aesthetics.  Copy and pasting the text should (in most browsers) include the colour codes.
  • Fixed some cell alignments and column widths.
  • Removed row highlighting dependence on javascript.
  • Removed button colouring dependence on javascript.
  • Stopped Internet Explorer consuming the last enter in a selection when formatting text.
  • Added the ability (for GMs) to remove some (rather than all) entries from the die roller log.
  • Used HTML paragraph (<p>) tags in the die log rathern than new lines () for easier triple-click selection in some browsers.
  • Deleted game searches (on the main menu) now include a hyperlink to the game.  Also removed the system column as deleted games don't have one.
  • Added the ability to edit player tags to the GM menu.
  • Added the ability to change player editable character sheets to the GM menu.
  • Added the option to view the scratchpad as a message.
  • Added "large" font formatting.  Compounds up to three times.
  • Added character sheet templates.  Up to five can be created and then can used whenever adding a new character.
  • GMs can now use one-off NPC names in the dice roller.  Can also be used from the dice roller hyperlinks with "npc=<name>".
  • Fixed security hole that allowed game editors to edit GM posts.
  • Added security check so game editors can only edit threads they're given permisison to (previously could edit messages posted to any thread they could see).
  • Added alternate numerical base rolls in the dice roller, denoted with "b" (e.g. "3b6").  Results are not added but recorded in order (with leading zeros if the die size is greater than 9).
  • Players can now view the source of their character sheet and description in deleted games (rather than just the output), and all from the one location (the Character Details screen).
  • Added "Mark all as Read" to the rMail screens, especially helpful for those who delete rMails without reading them.
  • GMs and players can now (temporarily) filter threads.
  • When replying to a thread, players and GMs now only have the private groups listed that are valid for that thread group.  Shortens the (possibly very long) list and removes impossible combinations.
  • Added "General" alongside the Mature and Adult content flags for searching (on the Main Menu and Wanted - Players forum).
  • NPCs are now separed a bit more in some areas, such as when posting and editing groups.
  • Made the "Private to" checkboxes wrap nicer.
  • Added (soft) message limit to rMail threads as (up to) 6,300 replies in one thread is a bit excessive.
  • Character sorting now excludes leading non-alphanumeric characters.

GREAT Job!  (We have a wiki??? Cool.)  RPOL continues to be the best PbMB site out here.

I think I will especially like the edit in Preview mode, the "secret" tag, and the mods for GMs to NPCs and Character tabs.

THANK  YOU!

Re: Version 1.9.54

  1. As GM, go to http://wiki.rpol.net.
  2. There, click "RPoL Game Wikis" on the right-hand sidebar.
  3. Then type your game name (or a good portion of it) into the box for "Search for wiki arcticles on RPoL games:" and hit the "Search" button.
  4. Click the name of your game to start its article.

Re: Version 1.9.54

I am a lurker in a game that I am about to be added too and since the update, my ability to read the threads to keep in touch of what is going on so I can know when I get into the game where to go has gone away, I have contacted the GM to see if he revoked my privileged and he says he has not. I have tried to clear cache and its the same result, so the only thing I can think of is the update might have affected the lurker?

RE: the new wiki system: There is mention of sub-articles. I'm not too familiar with standard wiki coding, so is it possible to create sub-articles within or for the main article for a specific game? E.g., could one create a main article and then, say, a sub-article for a specific character or major event within that campaign?

Re: Version 1.9.54

Fixed a few issues.

When replying to threads the proper characters should (will?) now be skipped, rather than most not actually being skipped... or worse, the GM being skipped (rather than always being there).  You might find in some cases the list is surprisingly short!

When creating a theme, loading an existing will now automatically select the background image.

Fixed RPoL Forum searching on the main menu (ones done via the hyperlinks).  Forums don't have a rating, so the (new) general rating tickbox is now ignored, like it should have been from the start.

Did some other stuff too, can't remember what it was!

I love the concept of your hub.rpol and dice.rpol. Dice.rpol will be a great tool for my at-the-pub RPGs where taking a bag of dice isn't feasible.

To what extent do you see hub.rpol being populated?

Re: Version 1.9.54

"Secret to" works in exactly the same way as a "private to", except that the result is undetectable to the recipient. So "{Secret to Heath: Secret Text}" ([ not {) would appear as "Secret Text" to Heath, but would be absent for anyone else. It also helpfully manages spaces at the edges so it doesn't look like you've stuck some secret text in the middle of a section of prose.

If you want a proper example, I'd be happy to add you temporarily to a game of mine and demonstrate.

Re: Version 1.9.54

So, for example, someone has infravision.  I type a secret to that person in the middle of a paragraph about what they see, and they don't know for sure that it's "secret to" them and might think everyone saw that text?  So only the GM sees that it was secret and no one else sees anything peculiar at all?

Re: Version 1.9.54

That's right. The GM sees it as being underlined, and a mouse over will reveal the name of the recipient, but for a player it either looks like normal text, or it doesn't appear at all.
