Read-Only

Hey all, was wondering if anyone could help me with a problem.  I'd like to make certain threads read-only, but can't seem to find a way to do this... is it possible?  I know I could use Z, but I want these to be user-specific.

Ie: I have a thread per player (A-H) with their character sheet, their wishlist, their xp totals, etc...

Not a big deal if they can't see it, but thought if the option was out there, it'd be nice is all.  :)

Read-Only

You can make a thread 'Read Only' so that only GMs can write to it, but I don't think there's any way you can let just a single player have write access.

Read-Only

You can make a thread read-only (open it, choose edit thread from the top right and select “Close Thread”).  GMs can still post, but players can’t.

Read-Only

Of course, that answer was too obvious.  Thank you for your help.  :)

You're already halfway there:  having the threads for each player in groups A through H, they are already individualized.  Storing character-related data in these threads is a great use of private groups.

As already mentioned, if you close these threads, you can still write to them, being the GM, but the players cannot.  If ever needed, you can easily re-open these threads.

I maintain a thread like this for each player, and another in the same respective group for each player's  private notes.

Re: Read-Only

I for one am partial to the character sheet tab in the upper left.  GMs can edit it, and make it so the player can too, all relevant data can easily be typed in and saved.

Point.  I keep character sheets in PDF exported from open document spreadsheets, and link to them from the character sheet tab.  What I keep in the private threads are matters related to character development, experience, and the like.
