Character's brief History: A professional gambler, from a poor background. Laden is currently a Mayor of Laredo. At one point, Landen participated as a Officer within the Civil War, on the side of the Union. However he used his money as a way to get a high ranking position that was far from the battlefield. Regardless of his lack of participation, Landen used his "appearance" in the Civil War, as a way to portray himself as a Hero. Of course, this was propaganda to allow himself to become the Mayor, since everyone loves a hero. Now, Landen slowly tries to expand his power through force and deception, to become his very own "Lord" of Laredo.  He is trying to own ALL the lands around Laredo even if it means the 'accidental' death of the owners.  He wants to become the Baron of a vast domain.  In town he owns most of the businesses and he has his 'men' monthly 'collect' 'protection insurance from all business owners even those who he owns their buildings. His reason is of course to pay his fine group of hired gunmen (Thugs mostly).  He wants to wed the widow Addie Butler as a fine trophy wife to help boost his 'respectability' as the Baron, errr emporer, errr Mayor.  He has a lot of other interests going on in Laredo and he wishes to own the Golden Garter or see it burned to the ground.  There are so many many things he has his 'innocent' hands into.
