Magnus Institute

The Magnus Institute

The Magnus Institute is an urban fantasy game focusing on archivists, field agents and supernatural beings who work for or alongside the Magnus Institute- an organization dedicated to documenting and researching the esoteric and the weird.

This game is heavily based on a podcast called 'The Magnus Archives,' which I highly recommend. However, I have made a few changes, and the characters from the podcast will not be making an appearance in game.

Listening to the podcast is not required. Anyone is welcome to apply, and learn about the world as we write.

TL;DR? Skip to the bottom and read the Summary.

Game Info:

All around the city of New York there are flyers placed on various boards in 24/hr coffee joints, clubs, occult shops, gyms, college campuses, libraries and countless other small businesses that cater to those with either too much time on their hands, an interest in the occult or paranormal, a fascination with research and even those with the skills for physical labor and bodyguard work.

The flyer reads:

quote:
!!!!!HELP WANTED!!!!!

Archivists, Field Agents, and more.

Have an interest in the esoteric? The paranormal? The strange and unexplained? Apply to the Magnus Institute now!

Skeptics need not apply.

!!!!!TELL YOUR STORY!!!!!

Have you had a strange encounter with some nightmarish creature?

Did you find an artifact or relic that just seems off, somehow?

Happen to move into a house that seems to be haunted?

Let us know! The Magnus Institute accepts all statements. Please, make an appointment and share your experiences, so these strange occurrences can be documented and researched by our qualified staff.

The Summary

As previously mentioned, The Magnus Institute is an urban fantasy game based on the Magnus Archives. The supernatural population will be well-hidden, attempting to avoid the attention of humanity at large. Characters will need to be able to take on a human facade, if they are not human themselves, to blend in with the citizens of NYC.

Players will write for characters that are working for or alongside the Magnus Institute, taking care of jobs that will include a variety of tasks such as researching, investigating and even combating supernatural entities on occasion.
