Re: Bugs In The System 1-6

The robot inches closer.  Ospra is pulling but the other two fire at the robot.  No one gains any ground.

Desi misses both shots but Yag gets two decent shots in.  The robot is damaged but still moving.

It raises its industrial strength shears and spears them out at your cable, trying to cut it.  The shears miss.  At the same time, it fires up its laser torch and jams it toward Ospra.  The laser torch hits, and punctures her suit!

(Each suit has a puncture repair patch.  However, to apply it will require a successful DEX check -- or tech check -- and you cannot do anything and must have both hands free...meaning you will lose any ground gained so far.  If successful, Ospra does not depressurize.)

You each suffer 2 more STA damage from the extreme cold.

Kri'lik and S'Krllk start making their way around the ship.  It is very hot inside, now at 40 degrees.

Yag fires three more shots at the robot, hoping to destroy the thing. He misses on all three, swearing at his gyropistol. "Kill it!" he yells to Desi.

09:48, Today: Yagrith rolled 213 using 3d100 with rolls of 54,72,87. Yag three shots at robot.

Desiraye swears underneath her breath too as her two shots miss the robot as well.  She aligns the sights of her laser pistol up again as she knows it's her last shot of the clip before reloading.  Once she acquires her mark, she fires another shot at the robot.

Beam Weapons: 4

Not sure if a aimed shot is possible this round?

19:21, Today: Desiraye Lipost rolled 63 using 1d100. Laser Pistol Attack (5SEU).

Re: Bugs In The System 1-6

ROUND 6

Ospra begins patching her suit.  This causes her (and Desi, who is attached behind Ospra) to fall back to her initial position.  Luckily, her initial position is where she's at, so she doesn't fall back, and neither does Desi.

Desi: 2 squares from airlock
Ospra: 2 squares from airlock
Yag: 1 square from airlock
Robot: next to Desi and Ospra

Yag misses with his shot.  With the robot that close, Desi can hardly miss.  She sends a shot directly through the robot.  It is badly damaged now and sends its shears out.  Its laser torch just misses Desi, but its shears find the cable...and cut.

Desi makes a quick reaction check and grabs the end of the rope, dropping her gun, which goes flying out of the room into the void and toward the planet.

Ospra, who successfully patches her suit, falls back.  Now, she is behind Desi, and Desi his holding both of them onto the rope with both hands.  The rope trails from Desi's hands to where it is connected to Yag.

Desi: 2 squares from airlock
Ospra: 3 squares from airlock
Yag: 1 square from airlock
Robot: next to Desi

Meanwhile, the extreme cold continues to hurt even through the fully charged chillsuits.  (2 STA dmg each)

Clarification:  A rope tied inside the airlock is attached to Yag; it then extends out to an untied end (just cut), where Desi is holding on with both hands.  The now separate portion of the rope is tied to Desi and trails to Ospra, where it is tied to her.  Then the other loose end (just cut) trails off toward the abyss where the Venturi winds threaten to carry you all.

                  Robot
(cut end)--Ospra----Desi(holding on to cut end)--Yag---(airlock)

Kri'lik continues to run to the far side of the damaged section of the station in hopes to find something that might be useful. He cringes dramatically when he hears what is happening over the open com channel. "Hang in there guys!" The middle aged doctor then tries to pick up the pace and runs as fast as he can.

Yag figures the first order of business is killing the robot; then he can try to save the others. He squeezes off 3 more shots, with two of them finding the mark:

11:43, Today: Yagrith rolled 19 using 4d10. Oops, meant 4d10 -- reroll damage.
11:41, Today: Yagrith rolled 111 using 3d100 with rolls of 31,36,44. 3 shots at robot.

"Hold on!" he growls to Desi and Osprah.

Desiraye knows it's now desperate times, she hates to let go of her weapon but, if she doesn't, her and Ospra are going to more than likely be swept out of the room into the colder void outside.  She grabs the rope with both hands and holds on for dear life and tries to make some headway back towards the airlock.  Desi looks up to Yag with a half smile, half evil look and yells to him, "WE NEED TO WORK ON YOUR MARKSMANSHIP SKILLS YAG!  UNTIL THEN, HOW ABOUT GETTING SOME MORE FIRE ON THAT GOD DAMNED ROBOT!"

Re: Bugs In The System 1-6

ROUND 7
Krilik is still making his way through the airlocks and ship.  It'll take him awhile to circle the whole ship.

The robot fires up its laser torch again, swinging it around and this time nicking the leg of Desi's suit.  She hears the telltale hiss of depressurization and feels tingling in her calf.  The robot also gets its shears around the cable again and cuts.

This time, Ospra is not so lucky.  She flails about a moment as the winds suck her insectoid body toward the giant hole in the side wall.  She manages to grab the side of the wall for a moment, slowing her ejection into the void...  But it is not enough.  Ospra flies out of the ship.  You hear her singsong screams in your earpieces for a moment as she gains momentum and disappears from sight.  And then all is silent.

But Yag, luckily, makes two strong hits on the robot, which -- now, badly damaged -- begins to make a slow retreat in self preservation.

Desi is now holding onto the rope with both hands, but she also needs both hands to begin repairing the hole in her suit.  Luckily, it was just a nick, giving her two rounds to patch it (or get to a pressurized area) before depressurization will begin to kill her.

Desi: 2 squares from airlock
Yag: 1 square from airlock
Robot: Not functional/retreating/1 square from Desi

But he has no time to dwell on her fate. Instead, he holsters his weapon and tries to grab Desi with both arms, hoping to free her up to patch her punctured suit.

In reply to GM Heath (msg #231):

Desiraye feels the wieght of Ospra get pulled free from her and as she's looking down when the robot punctures her suit, she sees her hanging on for dear life.  She wants to reach out to her friend but she is quickly swept out of the breached area of the ship.  As quick as her screams are heard they're gone in a few seconds and then there is nothing but silence over the channel.  Desi can't wipe away the tear that is rolling down her cheek as she concentrates on getting back into the airlock now that her suit is breached by the robot.

Re: Bugs In The System 1-6

ROUND 8

Desi and Yag pull and pull but a relentless wind is too much.  They manage to hold their ground -- barely -- but cannot make any progress, except that Yag is able to help Desi reach the point where he is at.

Desi: 1 square from airlock
Yag: 1 square from airlock

Each suffers 2 dmg from the cold.

Desi feels her leg begin to hurt.

ROUND 9
(Both are equidistant, so they cannot combine strengths this round.)

Desi makes a final effort to get into the airlock.  She pulls herself in.

However, Yag is not so lucky.  He can't seem to pull himself any closer.

Desi: In airlock (not secured)
Yag: 1 square from airlock

Each suffers 2 dmg from the cold.

Two rounds have passed, and Desi must make a choice.  Will she engage the airlock to avoid depressurization (which has a 50% chance of snapping the cable connected to Yag on the far side)?  Or will she try to help Yag into the airlock and take whatever damage happens until the airlock is secured, which could lead to death.

(NOTE: I won't make it instant death, but rather it will cause damage, perhaps incapacitating her after the next round, and be worse the following until she is unconscious or dead.

Also, although the cable might break if the airlock door closes, it is 85% likely that the end of the cable will still be wedged tightly into airlock door, thus holding Yag at a steady distance and able to be rescued from the west side.)

Kri'lik finally makes it around to the airlock on the west side of the room.  The airlock door leading into F1 reads:

Envt: T = -120; O = Nil; R = 0.

"Save yourself, Desi!" howls Yag into his chronocom. "I'll be fine! Close the airlock!"

[I assume the rope is tied in the airlock, then tied to Yag, then a free end trials off where it was cut by the robot, no?]

Yag grabs the free end of the rope and looks for anything nearby that he can tie it to. That way, if the end leading into the airlock gets severed he will at least still be tethered to something.

I hope Kri'lik brought a suit and an oxygen mask before he opens that airlock door.  :)

Yag: Yes, the rope is tied on a bar inside the airlock, then trails outside the open airlock door to Yag, and then trails off about 6 feet where the robot cut it.  The closing airlock has a 50% chance of actually cutting your rope when it closes, but even if it cuts the rope, there is still an 85% chance that it will tightly hold the rope between the door and wall, due to the pressure of the door against the inside of the wall where it closes.

Switching his chill suit to max and turning on his breathing mask, Kri'lik will try to open the airlock door very slowely. He also tries to position his body in such a manner that if the winds reach back into this part of the Jetsom he can try and hold himself tight while closing the airlock door.

Re: Bugs In The System 1-6

OOC: Based on the OOC post and what I gather below, I think this is what you are all doing:

Desi closes the airlock.  She suffers no more damage as the pressure and oxygen return to normal.

Yag...successfully ties himself off.  The winds buffet him, and the cold is still biting.  (4 points of damage)

The robot is regaining its confidence with Desi gone, apparently, and begins to make its way toward Yag.

Yag: 5 feet from airlock
Robot: 10 feet from Yag

(Desi can communicate and knows Yag tied himself off again, though from the outside.)

Kri'lik opens the airlock door.  He is immediately buffeted by the winds, but they are not nearly so strong here, and there is no danger of him being swept away.

The door leading to the wrecked room (F2) is open and so this storeroom is exposed to the cold, oxygenless atmosphere of Venturi. The room is filled with a gusting wind that swirls in through the door. It has swept away most small
objects in the room.

F2 is obviously some sort of storeroom.

Along one wall of the storeroom is a rack with 20 slots. Two of these are empty, the others hold:

- Three cryogenic tanks filled with crude bio- chemicals. These are identical to the tanks in the bio-chemical still room (E5) except that they are not connected to anything. They each weigh 20kg.
- 15 empty cryogenic tanks. These each weigh 12kg.
-Another rack contains standard 2-meter-long pipes (20 pipes, diameters 2-20 centimeters) and girders (30 girders, widths 2-20 centimeters).

OOC:
quote:
Also, although the cable might break if the airlock door closes, it is 85% likely that the end of the cable will still be wedged tightly into airlock door, thus holding Yag at a steady distance and able to be rescued from the west side.

You might be interested to know I rolled an 85%...Yag just barely made it!

He will begin to work his way deeper into the section, always having at least 5 points of contact with the Jetsom (legs and arms). Seeing a smaller pipe that would fit comftorably within his grasp he takes one to use as a brace if neccessary.
