Well done LM, I enjoyed that battle! I think your template worked really well for this format.

Well done everyone.  That was a tense battle, as brief as it was.  Thanks Loremaster.

Yes!
The new mechanics of 2E are interesting (the Troll that replenishes Endurance when reaching 0-- converting the last blow to a possible Wound ; Might 2 meaning 2 Wounds-- it was not as OP as i thought it might be).
All in all, it did not do that much harm.

(it triggered its spells when you rolled Eyes-- but none were rolled)

OOC: I will let all catch up and react to the fight etc.-- and we can have you take a short rest (maybe even make a bit of a fire to eat, and tend to the bruises) to see about regaining some Endurance.
And we can then narrate the exploration of the cave (which is devoid of other enemies) and what you find there etc..

005-OOC Old Bones and Skin

Now that it's over, I suspect the adventure was drawn from this.:

(Poem #370) Troll sat alone on his seat of stone.

Troll sat alone on his seat of stone,
And munched and mumbled a bare old bone;
For many a year he had gnawed it near,
For meat was hard to come by.
        Done by! Gum by!
In a cave in the hills he dwelt alone,
And meat was hard to come by.

Up came Tom with his big boots on.
Said he to Troll: 'Pray, what is yon?
For it looks like the shin o' my nuncle Tim.
As should be a-lyin' in the graveyard.
        Caveyard! Paveyard!
This many a year has Tim been gone,
And I thought he were lyin' in the graveyard.'

'My lad,' said Troll, 'this bone I stole.
But what be bones that lie in a hole?
Thy nuncle was dead as a lump o' lead,
Afore I found his shinbone.
        Tinbone! Skinbone!
He can spare a share for a poor old troll,
For he don't need his shinbone.'

Said Tom: 'I don't see why the likes o' thee
Without axin' leave should go makin' free
With the shank or the shin o' my father's kin;
So hand the old bone over!
        Rover! Trover!
Though dead he be, it belongs to he;
So hand the old bone over!'

'For a couple o' pins,' says Troll, and grins,
'I'll eat thee too, and gnaw thy shins.
A bit o' fresh meat will go down sweet!
I'll try my teeth on thee now.
        Hee now! See now!
I'm tired o' gnawing old bones and skins;
I've a mind to dine on thee now.'

But just as he thought his dinner was caught,
He found his hands had hold of naught.
Before he could mind, Tom slipped behind
And gave him the boot to larn him.
        Warn him! Darn him!
A bump o' the boot on the seat, Tom thought,
Would be the way to larn him.

But harder than stone is the flesh and bone
Of a troll that sits in the hills alone.
As well set your boot to the mountain's root,
For the seat of a troll don't feel it.
        Peel it! Heal it!
Old Troll laughed, when he heard Tom groan,
And he knew his toes could feel it.

Tom's leg is game, since home he came,
And his bootless foot is lasting lame;
But Troll don't care, and he's still there
With the bone he boned from its owner.
        Doner! Boner!
Troll's old seat is still the same,
And the bone he boned from its owner!

Mip, Vidar was saying he could try to open it, but could not claim the box or anything in it, before it was determined if there was an owner alive.

The travel log. I haven't had much time to work on it but I figured I'd post the work in progress at least before this leg of the adventure is completely over. I'll do a better one next time!

In reply to The Loremaster (msg # 50):

Well it's finished, I think. It's the same link as in msg #49. I can make the image larger if it's hard to read.

Edit: And oh, hope you don't mind I cut and pasted from your text LM, didn't want that prose to go to waste.

I have added the TPs to your online info'.
And, just to get it out of the way-- when you get back to Bree we will consider this the end of a gaming session (it is NOT a break in the Adventure, so no Fellowship phase yet, thus no spending of SP/AP), however: you will ALL gain 3 SP (Skill Points) and 3 AP (Adventure Points).
I have aldready added those to your online info'.

Finally, since you are resting right now, and-- spoiler: there should be no fight until Bree, you have 2 Fellowship Points left, that you can use to have 2 people recover 1 Hope each.
Anyone low wants 1 Point?

Well I don't recover too many hope during the fellowship phase later so if no one else needs it more I can certainly use it.

All are at full Endurance again.
Having rested during the trip back, and in Bree.

Orodil: you can also take the last Hope point from the Fellowship Pool (add it to your current Hope score).

Re: 005-OOC Old Bones and Skin

Orodil: did you take that last Hope point?

Your Fellowship Points are replenished.

Technically, you did the first part of an Adventure (with the Troll) and are moving to another adventure (down South)-- so I will have you get a Fellowship Phase after this coming adventure, before you do the second part of what comes after the Troll (and then probably a long Yule-Fellowship Phase after that).

005-OOC Old Bones and Skin

We are semi-skipping the 1st Step: Set the Journey Path, in the sense that you are setting off down the Greenway to the South of Bree-- but will go as far as you need to get information, if you do find some (and then maybe change course, or come back etc.). So you have a path, but no specific place as a goal etc..

So, the 2nd Step is the Marching Tests.
In this case, you do not spend the 6's on special things.
It goes like this:
If the TRAVEL roll was a success, the event takes place at a distance of 3 hexes, plus 1 for each Success icon.
So--
05:56, Today: Vidar son of Flar rolled a total of 21 (15 if weary): a great success (failure if weary) with the Eye of Sauron (complications) using the The One Ring with a target of 17 with rolls of 11 (Feat Die), 2, 5, 1, 4, 3, 6.
Thus, even with the 11 as 0 it is a Great Success, meaning 3 Hexes +1 = 4 Hexes

And you have noted that you spent 1 Hope.
Favored Skill: you did not roll the Feat die twice (?)-- you should, since if you get something other than an 11 it will NOT raise the Eye Awarness-- on the first roll of the Journey!
So, Vidar, you should roll for Favored-- roll the Feat die again.
