Donna had a cursory glance to see that everyone was in one piece, and turned back to the recently freed Lazino. "Are you hurt, Lazino? Can you stand?"

Sara's shoulders slumped as she relaxed from her rage and put her hand on Donna's shoulder to steady herself. With Lazino already looked after, and unable to do much to help Cogs, she called to Felmor, "Hey, maybe don't get too deep until we can all get regrouped, ok?"

Then, in the spirit of regrouping, she trotted down to the ledge and offered to haul Aida up the cliff side.

With the immediate threat dealt with Azvaq immediately began to work on Cogs, the look in Cogs eyes drove him to fury at the Ogre who lay dead within striking distance, but he maintained focus and continued to pull pieces from the wreckage and re attach them where he could.

"Hang in there bud, we'll get you put back together"

OOC: So if the DC is 15, based on level based dc, then my first crafting check fails and I can only do this once every 10 minutes as I don't have Quick Repair. If we are good to continue to wait then I'll continue to perform checks until I can get him back up and working.

11:00, Today: Azvaq 'Long Whisker' rolled 14 using 1d20+7.  Crafting Check for Repair.

Re: Torment and Legacy---The Circus of Wayward Wonders (RP)

Felmor took a few steps within the cave looking around seeing the dead cow, a large barrel of Some foul smelling brew and a cask of water. A pile of rotting furs piled in one corner as sleeping skins. Then laying in a pile is what looks like a decent stash of treasure. Several coins of gold , silver and copper. An ivory chesspiece- a bishop, a black gemstone shaped like a dog, a small emerald with a flat side and a cut side, a crystal shaped pendant, a vial of a creamy white liquid, what looks like a bird of preys claw, and an arrow with a silver head glowing slightly.

Lazino looked beat up as he stood, rubbing his arms and legs then sat down on the rocks azvaq was working on trying to repair Cogs for several minutes. Aida wrapped up the blue skinned fey in her rope . Sara moved over behind Felmor looking around taking note of what he saw as well.

"This doesn't make any sense...", Felmor said, talking to himself.  He started gathering the valuable items to see if any of them were Lazino's to return to him.

As he was doing this, he noticed Sara walk up and asked for her help.

"I wonder if whoever is behind this allowed them to keep whatever they found as payment for thr kidnapping.  But this implies Lazino is not the first." he said to Sara, somewhat matter of fact but also asking her opinion.

Donna gently grasped Sara's hand, and gave her a quiet "good job there".

At Felmor's musing, she chimed in.

"If I had to make a guess, I'd bet on the little blue guy over there being the mastermind of the operation. Perhaps he is an underling of someone else, but this seems to be the cliche duo of the smart and weak brains with the strong and intimidating brute. Perhaps someone can check if he is still breathing? If so, he may want to answer our questions"

"Granted that we give him an incentive to do so"
she added.

Sara nodded, both theories seemed plausible.

"While Azvaq gets Cogs up and running so we can get the hells out of here, I don't suppose any of you are any good with the medicine? I didn't take as bad a hit as Cogs, but I hope I don't sound like a whiner if I say that javelin to the belly took some fight out of me."

"Sorry," Felmor said with regret, "I never really learned much about treating wounds.  I hope to learn someday, but right now I'd be more likely to hurt you then help you."

With that he finished picking up the items and with Sara and Donna headed back to the group to see how Azvaq and Aida were progressing with Cogs and the blue creature.

Aida glanced at the things Felmor brought out with him. "Or maybe they have just stolen things before? Do ogres keep trinkets? Or...whatever this little thing is?" She nudged the unconscious gremlin with her foot as her animated rope finished its job before going inert.

At Sara's question, she shrugged, showing empty hands. "Sorry, ain't got any potions or anything, and don't know about patchin' anyone up."

As Felmore collected the items he counted the coins and as he picked up the various items he felt tingles on all except the ivory chess piece

Felmor and Sara came out of the cave saw Donna talking to the battered Lazino. Aida standing over the Fey, who was all tied up. Blood pooled beneath the Ogre who was quite Dead.
Azvaq continued to try and repair Cogs

ooc:azvaq go ahead and make another roll.

7 gold , 15 silver and 12 copper. An ivory chesspiece- a bishop, a black gemstone shaped like a dog, a small emerald with a flat side and a cut side, a crystal shaped pendant of an Angel who looked he was weeping, a vial of a creamy white liquid, what looks like a bird of preys claw, and an arrow with a silver head glowing slightly.

"Almos...almost there..." Azvaq's tiny mouse like tongue slid out of his mouth as he worked, a sign of deep concentration, and then as he slid the last bolt into place the gears inside cogs unbound and began spinning freely again. Cogs head turned to Azvaq and gave him a subtle nod.

"Yes!" Azvaq stepped back and let Cogs climb to his full massive height. When he did Azvaq slapped him on the leg and scowled, "You scared me you big brute! What did I tell you about dodging, weaving, ducking. Do you want to end up a pile of scrap!" Cogs gave a bit of a shrug and Azvaq's expression softened. "Maybe you're just too big, or I need to tweak your agitator again, we'll work on it, just try not to get yourself fish hooked again"

OOC: Much better roll this time.  I think that's just a success, so that would be 10hp he gained back. I'll have to continue to repair him to get back more.

05:21, Today: Azvaq 'Long Whisker' rolled 24 using 1d20+7.  Crafting Check to Repair Cogs.

Re: Torment and Legacy---The Circus of Wayward Wonders (RP)

As Felmor finished collecting the items, he found it odd that most of them seemed to give off...something.  He checked to see if they had any sort of magical properties, which might explain the sensations he felt. (OOC Cast Detect Magic, focusing on the treasure items).

Armed with this knowledge, and seeing that Azvaq had been able to get Cogs on his feet, he went over to check on Lazino and see if he was ok.  He would ask him about the items, but later.  Right now they just needed to get back to the farm and regroup.

"Are you ok? Any idea who would want to do this to you?"

Re: Torment and Legacy---The Circus of Wayward Wonders (RP)

Lazino was on pretty bad shape. He had a taken a severe blow to the side of his head and blood matted down his gray hair. There several other bruises coming up on his elderly frame as well.

Felmor asked who would do this to him and he grimaced as he spoke looking at the group. the ogre said he was going to hand me over to Haran later this evening. If it's the same Haran, he is a former student of mine. I stopped tutoring him because he was too mean for my liking. though why he'd want to kidnap me because of it I do not know

After getting Cogs back up and running Azvaq joined Felmore by Lazino.

"Well I am glad we found you before that could happen, anyone employs an Ogre has nothing but bad intentions. Leyla will be happy to see you" Azvaq's nose crinkled a bit as a wafting smell  of the ogre caught him by surprise. "I do have a question though, one of your books in your study was earmarked for Hags and Changelings, do you suspect this Haran of being one?"

Re: Torment and Legacy---The Circus of Wayward Wonders (RP)

Lazino looked at the Ratfolk with a spark in his eyes. why yes. yes I do. after he left I had delved into his background. found him to be adopted ...found on the church doorstep in Abberton, if you will. and I believe he is a Changeling. I believe we should make the meeting they had set up at the standing stones.

He pointed up the rise to the Henge near the top of the ridge that showed with the transitional light of sun and moon.

"It's quite a haul. I suppose it's ours? Finders keepers and all that?" she looked through the stash, mumbling mostly to herself, listening to Lazino talk about Haran.

"You want us to ... make the meeting? As opposed to getting the hells out of here before he shows up? Because I can see the advantage of just not being here. Let him figure out where the dead ogre storage is. Although... I guess if we don't get a chance to confront him, what's to stop him from trying again?" she shrugged.

"Guess we're confronting him after all. Anybody able to patch a girl up?"

Aida looked up the hill in the direction pointed out. "Yeah, maybe we should have a chat with this old student of yours. Seems like you had the right instincts about him."

She looked to Sara, nodding a little. "Yeah, seems like something that should be dealt with before it becomes a worse problem. What do we do with the little fella, though? Just leave him somewhere?"

"Changeling?", Felmor asked, unfamiliar with what that was, but it certainly sounded like it was not a good thing.

As the others commented about going up the mountain, Felmor was willing to question the wisdom of that.  "Are you sure that's a good idea?  I mean, you have obviously been injured and Sara is as well.  We could certainly take the blue creature back with us and question it to find out more information, formulate a plan, before taking on this Haran directly."

"Both arguments are logical." Azvaq said stroking his whiskers with his small rat fingers. "Quickly looking in Lazino's book I saw that Changelings are the offspring of Hags and Humans...or Humanoids." Azvaq turned his pink eyes back to Lazino, "You said he was left on the steps of a church in Abberton, did he know this? Could he be trying to locate his birth mother?"

Lazino nodded and took stock of his own wounds and said he might be trying to find her. it might be a hurt ego. I don't know. and true I am quite injured. but I did have the opportunity to watch you 5 in action. I feel safe enough. that being said I will abide by your decision. my only fear is we do have an idea where he will be and when. if we left we lose that advantage

Felmor thought about what Lazino had said.

"Well, the others seemed to be ok with it, so I will go along with it.  There will be some advantage as he will not be expecting us most likely."

He paused for a moment.  "Is there anything about him possibly being a changeling that we should know about, or any precautions we should take?"

Sara shrugged at Aida's question without a good answer.

"I guess we just let him wake up?  Maybe he's learned his lesson? I'm not in for a summary execution," she continued, realizing that maybe it was naive.

"I guess I'm ready to go find this guy, or as ready as I'm likely to get."

OOC: do we not have anyone who can do the medicine treat wounds thing reliably? Nor magical healing? I might have to adjust Sara's character sheet some...

Donna, you still with us?
