Awesome! Do we want to include a section for skills, as everyone moves forward making characters?

Re: The Bigtop (ooc)

w00t!  Got Pathbuilder working on my phone. Had to disable Reddit app which came automatically installed. Now I just need a Play card to unlock it. Noticed too that the desktop app and the phone app each require a purchase. Ah well, it ain't much, and it's working great for me so far. Maybe I'll go without a Monster drink for a few days... o.O

Good to know this!
I'll need to wait to get to my laptop.
I also noticed that since the character sheet is saved on the local drive... I can't access the information that I used when I change the computer. I think I need to pay to get the opportunity to save to the google drive.

Re: The Bigtop (ooc)

You can save your character on whatever device you're using and it'll give you a new build number. Then you can load that build number on any other device and save it locally again. The only downside is that you'll need to keep updating the link on your rpol character sheet because the build number changes.

@GM - Are we limiting the Free Archetype to thematic ones?

Re: The Bigtop (ooc)

No, you can choose among any...though as far as I know it doesn't matter til 2nd level ...am I wrong in that?

However...We are going to limit archetype feats to 5 though. That's per the suggestion in balance for the free archetype. So be aware of that

Yea, that's when we can first select it, I just like to have things planned out for what I am going to take haha

That being said, when you say 5, do you mean 5 total, or just 5 that count for things like Resiliency where you get an added effect for every feat you take (like additional hit points)?

Thanks :)

In reply to Azvaq 'Long Whisker' (msg # 53):

I'm not sure what you are talking about. Do I need to do something in addition to just following the steps from Pathbuilder?

Re: The Bigtop (ooc)

My understanding is that the free archetype kicks in at level 2, yes.

That means people can plan for it if they want, say putting that in at L2 on pathbuilder or checking them out on Archives of Nethys (for PF2). But is isn't necessary now.

Regarding Pathbuilder, for a given character you can choose what options apply. As a different example, you could include or not materials from the APs for example. You can also choose to allow the free archetype. But again, no hurry.

Re: The Bigtop (ooc)

I know it suggests the 5 that scale like resiliency. I'm hesitant though because NOONE had played with this option at higher levels.
My understanding of this option is normal archetype feats replace class feats.

Free archetype feats are in addition to the class feats, essentially doubling feats...am I understanding it correctly?

Here is a youtuber's opinion piece regarding Free Archetype Variant rules, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0T4EY-QU3U&t=610s
Archetypes are weaker than Class feats

Re: The Bigtop (ooc)

Seems to me to make the glass cannons more fragile and the skill monkies a little more scrappy. In other words , gonna strengthen those things that are already strong, or fill in some gaps.

It doubles CLASS feats, more or less. But there are a lot more feats in 2e; ancestry, general, skill and class. Probably about fifty percent more feats ish. Still a lot, but not super unbalancing hopefully... But I appreciate only going half way

Re: The Bigtop (ooc)

Hmmm ok so let's do Free Archetype. No limit to which archetype and limited the class feats that scale like resiliency to half level ie 3 if you're 6th...etc as suggested but limit any other of those archetype class feats as suggested.

We will play it as ruled and I'll trust my  experience to being able to make things challenging if they cause issues at higher levels

Took a minute but say hello to Linvalos the Beastspeaker (or Lin when not on stage), and his pet Lion Angela.

https://pathbuilder2e.com/launch.html?build=300404

Not a hundred percent happy with the build (no bow? on a Ranger? HERESY!!), but I do like the way everything kind of clicks together so I'm hesitant to change it.

That's it. No changes at level 1.

I should have a character up tomorrow I think, ran out of time today. I have the idea pretty clear.

Sara:
One (possibly huge) drawback on free archetype... The free version of Pathbuilder doesn't allow that variant rule (or any variant rules I think).

I found it!
In Pathbuilder, go to Character>Character Options>Advanced Options>Check box for Allow Gamesmastery Guide Free Archetype. I don't think that we are going to remove the restrictions that are listed there.

Wow. I contributed something :)

Re: The Bigtop (ooc)

Pathbuilder question
1) Where do I select spells for my spellbook? I see the tab for spells, but nothing for the spellbook.
2) If I take armor proficiency, then my wizard can wear light armor. Does this work or is it a poor choice :)

You choose spells for your spell book by clicking the spellbook icon next tot he spell. There is no limiting feature in pathbuilder so you just have to know the rules regarding how many spells you can have in there to start with, and as you level.

@GM Thanks for the clarification, going to work on getting my character sheet done and posted up here in a bit :)
