Re: The remodeled OOC bar

Idi:
Hey everyone, just checking in--my son got sick this weekend (there's a stomach bug going around the daycare, and it was his turn I guess) and a sick 9 month old really puts the brakes on everything. I'll be able to catch up in the next day or so, I've just gotta get caught up on the backlog this has created for work and everything. Until I get a chance to post IC, please feel free to assume Idi goes along with whatever plans you want to do!

I also had a sick child over the weekend. He is 3 though, so not quite as scary or hard to deal with as a 9 month old. Hope you are all feeling better!

Re: The remodeled OOC bar

They're small though, pretty much the equivalent of rats or small birds. You're not sure if they've been summoned here, or if they slipped in through a small gate to the elemental plane.

Can there be "animal" elementals? Can they BE the "animals"?

If they are, it's probably best not to open the cage to let them run free... :)

Couldn't hurt, even if she isn't at odds with the town she might have insight on local animals.

Is the Chapel pretty much one room and all of us, the acolyte, and our surprise guest the raven are somewhat together?

Re: The remodeled OOC bar

There are a multiple room. Most of you are in a back room where the wounded are resting, while the acolyte and Buckthorn have gone to an office. The two rooms are next to one another though, and you easily heard the window break.

Oh Gorrid's holy water reminds me, I realized that the Sanctify rote doesn't just purify food/water, it makes it holy! I mean, I'm sure I read that at one point but it had slipped my mind before. No immediate application, but now I might be looking for things to holy-up :)

Does the temple make sense as a place to try "Communion Of Whispers"? The animal is now a spirit in that location, but I also don't think that ability should work as a lay-on-hands type phenomenon that let's you kind of mind meld with animals like that.

It's possible the temple (as a place) could have been its target and tied into things that way, but I don't want to use an ability and make a roll in a way that shouldn't yield anything useful even if successful. If that explanation makes sense.

Not really. The Communion of Whispers is more to speak with the essence of places at large, rather than a specific animal in an area. You'd be more likely to end up speaking with the spirit of the nearby forge, since it's 'established' here.

I am planning on waiting for Idi to let us know what he saw before I post. Then it seems pretty obvious that getting the bird to drink holy water would probably be helpful.

Yup.  Then talk to it about where this pool is and/or lead us to it, once it's recovered.  And I guess make sure we have adequate water supply when we travel, because drinking from local tributaries might not be wise...

Oops, sorry all, didn't mean to hold things up! Not trusting the water in the woods does seem prudent right now, although the Sanctify rote should help with that.

Sir Gorrid has cleric spells, right? So you should be able to use the Sanctify rote as well? Lots of holy water to go around :)

Indeed.  I'd failed to note that particular effect of 'sanctify'.  It's a more powerful spell than I'd assumed.

Do Buckthorn and Idi want to be the scout and trailblazer? Not only do they probably have the highest wisdom scores, but Buckthorn is also a nature-guy and Idi had the prayer vision.

Yeah I was thinking maybe Idi do the scout role, his thing with his god is very much about investigating and finding truths, not that far from spotting danger (Thovis is the Hunter, after all). Buckthorn, knowing the wilderness well, might make sense to actually get us moving through it!

I was considering getting a bunch of water blessed, but if we run across a giant saber-toothed whatever, I'm afraid we're going to have a hard time convincing it to drink the water while it's trying to kill us.  So I guess we try to render animals unconscious where we can safely do so, and accept that we're just speeding up the inevitable deaths of afflicted animals where we can't.

Would a druid be less likely to be attacked by a crazed animal then a random person?

Are there "known enemies" to druids that may be behind this?
