Um... Feff, you should be in H11 now, I believe you can reach the umber hulks directly. Which means you ought to get a full round of attacks...

So, Lysande doesn't even get a save or dex check to avoid the umber hulk? After all it is not a targeted trample attack. Normally people just move aside by reflex, right?

BB probably rolled for you to save time. I think this situation might fall under the House Rule #5 area in the Character Generation thread.

Re: Out of Character Thread...part 6

Yes, that is correct. There are times where I have to roll saving throws based off the actions of the round. It's done to save time. If everyone wants, you can roll a d20 20 times and give them to me in a PM and I can use those results for future saves?

Re: Out of Character Thread...part 6

I'm happy to have you roll when the need arises.

One, if you can't trust the GM, there's no point in playing.

Two, rolling for yourself is only an illusion of control given how much the dice roller hates us.

Three, stopping the game for a subset of people to roll dice can add days of waiting.

So, again, I'm happy to just let the GM take care of the ad hoc dice rolls that spring up randomly.

I'd rather have the DM roll rather than have 20 rools out there giving me anxiety.  :)

Re: Out of Character Thread...part 6

It's not about trusting the GM, it's about myself being the only one to blame for my misfortune (and the dice roller). Besides: Just because I trust the GM doesn't mean he might overlook/forget something. I know I do all the time. And given that Feff was posting after me but acting before me is slowing the combat round down, since now I'll be waiting for everyone acting before me, before I can consider my options. *shrugs*

That's just me being protective of my character ;)

Re: Out of Character Thread...part 6

I understand, Lysande. Feff only did what was asked of him. You had a good idea and it still technically happened. You can look at it this way: you falling prone from the Umberhulk running you over probably saved you from the Mind Flayer's Mind Blast attack.

Re: Out of Character Thread...part 6

OK, I had to figure out the math and I'm still not sure if I got it right. Each square is 20x20 and that = 400 cubic feet (I hope). There is a beam right down the middle of the Drawbridge that would be best suited for the repair, but there are (14) 20 ft squares:

So, the Make Whole will do 90 cubic feet, while 1 space (20x20) = 400 cubic feet.

Total in a straight line right up the middle? 5,600....which would be 62.22 "Make Whole" spells.

Re: Out of Character Thread...part 6

20x20 is 400 square feet, not cubic feet. Been too many years, I can't remember how to do it.

Hit search, there is a calculator on line.

How long is the bridge?

4" thick covers 360 square feet.

6" thick = 180 square feet.

Re: Out of Character Thread...part 6

Confusing! I looked this up online:

How do I calculate cubic feet?
To calculate the cubic feet of a package, you need to multiply the length x width x height. For example, the cubic feet formula for 1 cubic foot equals 1 foot x 1 foot x 1 foot, giving you the volume of a cube. Mar 14, 2023

So, for the 20 foot square on the bridge, I figured 20 feet length x 20 feet width x 1 foot height. Wouldn't that = 400 cubic feet?

The bridge is about 300 feet long.

300'! So, it ISN'T a drawbridge, it's just a bridge!

How many charges do we need, I can deduct the charges then. Out of combat, it's max, correct?
