Re: The Portside Tavern (OOC Chat)

Alright, so... I'll be very busy until the end of June, but I'll continue to run the game at a slower pace. Just keep it in mind, I might not log in for several days in a row sometimes, so don't think I've forgotten about the game.

Anyway, here's the result of the Payoff Phase:

Take: 40 Coin (Thanks to your planning and great luck, you were able to take everything of value)

Heat: 3 to Revelle (Orlov did a good job on setting up the Falcon as the masterminds behind this, but your mugs are still gonna be on wanted posters and they're gonna suspect that you were at least involved, plus the whole situation was wild and chaotic), 5 to Falcon (They are gonna be pissed once they learn that it was you who made them the subject of a Revellan manhunt)

Reputation: 4 (You would've gotten more, but as you blamed it on the Falcon, some of the notoriety also goes to them, until people find out the truth)

XP: In addition to the XP gained during the Score, Orlov as the sole remaining player who participated in the score since the very beginning can either raise one of his Action Ratings by 1 (3 is max for now) or take 1 new Special Ability from any Playbook.

Crew XP: 5

Sorry, it was a rough week for me. Should be much faster now. Posts for both of you are up. I'm gonna remove all of the inactive players from the game (except maybe Carina).

Re: The Portside Tavern (OOC Chat)

So  when we finish resolving the Pearl, now we have Downtime, and then choose another score?

What are our options with the 40 coin? Can. We incest it with Trelawney? Can we upgrade our ship? Buy another ship so we have two?

Regarding using vice to relieve stress, say I have 1 point in resolve but we also have the +1 to Resistances granted by our Renegades crew, so should I roll 1 die or two?

Re: The Portside Tavern (OOC Chat)

1) I'll wait for Sean and then I'll decide, you can plan what to do next. Don't forget, you don't have to go for Scores, you can also Hunt ships. Or do whatever else you want.

At the start of the game, there were other opportunities mentioned. Those still apply, none of them were time sensitive. So you could choose among those to pursue as well.

2) Check the rules, there should be something about that. If not, I can think of something. You could try to set up a base of operations with this new wealth, maybe buy some small island from Valdesia with Trelawney's help.

3) Indulging Vice and Resistance roll are two different things. You use your lowest Attribute value when Indulging in Vice. That Crew Special Ability doesn't apply to it.

Re: The Portside Tavern (OOC Chat)

Thanks!

1. We did lead 1, so that leaves 2 and 3.
quote:
Lead 2:

You've heard from Jaabir's friend Tabitha, a curio shop owner, that apparently the Hangman's Noose had some kind of ancient and powerful artifact at their disposal they got after raiding some other pirate crew that found it in the Hollows. Tabitha was to identify it for them. In the end, the crew of the Hangman's Noose ended up selling the artifact to the Sisterhood, who took it to some small sanctum of theirs located on a remote island in the Greater Cuiverra archipelago. Tabitha was aware of the general location of the sanctum and provided it to you as a favor to Jaabir.

The small archipelago is about a day of travel from your location, but you'll need to find out which island hosts the Sisterhood's hidden sanctum, which might take some more time.

Lead 3:

The Redcliff Company is looking for dependable (and discreet) crews that will raid Sallician merchant ships along the trading routes in the region of Agostine Islands in order to weaken their competition. Your contact, the businessman Trelawney offered to introduce you to a high ranking member of the Redcliff Company, should you wish to take them up on the offer. There might be a letter of marque from Valdesia in it for you.

I'm inclined to go for Lead 3. What do you reckon, Sean?

2. I don't  my books on me, but I read them before and I don't think its designed for large windfalls of coin. All the upgrades seem to be slow acting clocks, and then pay a small amount of coin to go from tier 1 to tier 2 in quality. I'd like to trade the ship in for a tier 2 ship.

I like the idea of a base, but don't want to start from scratch. Maybe buy into an existing island with a good Harbour amd invest in it: shares in the pub, the ship outfitters, statt building a dry dock...

Re: The Portside Tavern (OOC Chat)

So, if I understand it correctly, Sean wants to go for the Sanctum, while Orlov wants to go work with the Redcliff Company?

If so, please roll 1d6, both of you, to serve as a tiebreaker. Higher roll wins.

Re: The Portside Tavern (OOC Chat)

Actually, i will bow oit and let Sean decide.

I'm happy to go with either, but I'm just confused: if Sean is adamant we should get rid of the Orb, why is he advocating hunting more powerful artifacts?

Or is it Sean hates the idea but Sean's Player thinks it would be fun?

Yeah, I was also surprised by that, considering Sean's reaction to the pearl.

Re: The Portside Tavern (OOC Chat)

Because Sean is Sallician and that one requires him to attack what could be family.

The other choice is going and finding bad things we can smash if necessary.

Honestly the player doesn't care, he is having fun. So really, whatever you decide to do, it will be fun. Heck attacking family might be something he relishes, that might be interesting to play out. So whichever is fine woth the player. Sean the character wants to leave the world better than when he was born here, that may not seem creative but Im sticking to it. =^>

Re: The Portside Tavern (OOC Chat)

Ah, that makes lots of sense. There's also the matter that having pissed off the Revellans, pissing off the Sallians might not be the wisest of moves.

Alrighty,  off to the Sanctum! (After a suitable period of R&R)

Thanks! I'll take Mariner's 'No rest for the Weary', granting an additional downtime action.

That's XP for the crew, not the PCs? Or both?

Re: The Portside Tavern (OOC Chat)

The rulebook says we can improve a downtime roll by 1 point by spending 1 coin (1-3 becomes 4-5, 4-5 becomes 6). I rolled a 1 to reduce vice, if I spend 1 coin that becomes 4?
