Let me wish for you preparedness instead of luck.  When you're the GM, a Smith & Wesson always beats four aces...

Aw, what the heck.  Good luck in your new game!

Unexpected Rewards

Back in November, a GM on this site wound up in the hospital and couldn't continue their game. I offered to step in, and ran the game for a brief bit while they were out of action. They've been running their game again for a while now (with me assisting), and decided to get me a gift for helping them. I now own a nice, shiny, copy of Volo's Guide To Monsters.

Thanks, GB!

Health Food Can Be Bad For Your Health

I now know what the Heimlich feels like, and thanks to an ex-cop classmate of mine, I'm here to write this.

Health food is deadly: a fruiting carrot tried to kill me. <goes back to eating caramels>

Warm Fuzzies

That feeling you get when no one has posted all day, and none of your games have "new post" indicators, but you click on one and find that someone has just posted for you.

Feeling Happy

A year and about one week ago, I kicked out a toxic player from one of my games, and it was the last toxic player that game has seen since. I don't know how they do it, but I got to say I love my players to death for being so amazing!

Feeling Very Happy

After 16 months, one of my games has just crossed 20,000 posts. I don't even know what to say about that. That's simply a ludicrous number. I kinda feel like I should make a Ric Flair-esque "WOOOOO" at this point in celebration.

They Made It!

The very last of my teenager's friend group (AKA: my spare children) graduate tonight!

I'm so tickled to see them all grow up and get to where they can spread their wings and head away from their small-town nest.

Resident Evil:  Vendetta

Saw RE: Vendetta on the big screen last night.  It was very good.  The action sequences were awesome.  And what made them even better is that the heroes and zombies were mo-capped.  Their "action team" worked through all the stunts.

Pretty cool.  Reminded me of the ballet gun battles of John Woo movies.

Resident Evil:  Vendetta

Just got back from the store where an absolutely gorgeous full double rainbow was brilliant against the deep gray clouds.

And everywhere I turned, people were coming out of stores, cars, and homes to stop and gawk at it and take pictures.  It was a beautiful sight all around.

Good stuff!

That wonderful moment when one of your PC's comes to you and spills her pet conspiracy theory about one of the antagonists, and you just smile, nod, and realize it's -awesome-, so therefore... It's now pretty much true!

Good stuff!

My tabletop GM just greenlit the most ridiculous Mutants and Masterminds character I have ever conceived of.

I'm going to need to color code sheets and it is going to be so ridiculously awesome.

My jerk of a cat and my overly friendly dog. Not sure if they love me because they have to or not, but I am glad I have them with me now.

Not sure how much worse I would be without them.

Re: Good stuff!

Choosing to look at the bright side of this...outside contractors are coming back to the park where I work, to tweak some settings and adjust a few things that we put in earlier this year...they specifically asked for me to be available to help them.  It's nice to have a reputation for being a solid choice to have around (the dark side of it is, I'm basically on graveyard shift for three nights because that's the only time we can work on the ride...)

Finally got to see Fantastic Beasts and where to find them. Made me remember the fun bits of the HP games I played here and still wish were running. Then I get sad. But it was a good sad.

Re: Good stuff!

Got to looking through some old records about some of the old games I used to play here a few years ago, and stumbling right onto my account name and password so I can get back on.

I'm currently trying to choke my printer getting as much of this stuff as I can into paper form before one of my favorite games is forever deleted.

It turns out I missed playing Rain and Alicia so, so much... among others.

That day - sounds awesome!  Three vehicles?!  You're ambitious! I finally got my Grey Knight Paladins completed.  Took 'em out for a spin, (small game - 900 points 'cause that's all I had) - totally annihilated the Salamander Player.

Re: Good stuff!

I haven't run a game in over 30 years, but I've been thinking about it, refamiliarizing myself with my world, and working out a couple starting adventures. When the opening came up in my tabletop group, I offered to run for a while... and we rolled up characters today. I'm excited, but it's also nerve-wracking, worrying about all the stuff I need to remember and keep track of!

Regardless, next week, my world comes back to life again. :)

Re: Good stuff!

Horseback riding...I used to be able to go at least a couple of times a week, for a few hours each time.  Those days have, sadly, long since passed...but I still like to ride.  And I still seem to be good at it.  I was on one of my friend's 'tricky' horses...the ones that seem really well-behaved until they think they can get away with something with you.  Over an hour on her back tonight, and nothing more extreme than her shying away from some critter in the bushes.

I miss this...
