CthulhuTech

Out of curiosity: has anyone here have any experience with this game?

I wonder: can you run worthwhile games with it, or is the whole setting just too crazy? Also, any opinions on the system?

All input appreciated :)

CthulhuTech

The game is playable in two levels, either macro or micro mode.  The different character types are oriented towards either a large battle mode versus more a small tactical/investigarion game.  Mixing the two is a disaster, like having a player with a mech and another as a police officer.  Many of the character types are members of secret socieries that don't interact well.  Our troupe made two characters each thar were related so we played one or the other depending on the threat.

Question: how do you make a mecha battle into an RPG? I may be mistaken, but it seems to me that there's not much else for mechas to do than walking, shooting and punching...

Re: CthulhuTech

I've only played it a few times.  The Mech/Engel pilots admittedly are not great for all games (my first character was an Engel pilot, which was great until we had to go inside, lol).  However, if no one is playing a Tager then it pretty much works (mostly) like any other CoC game.  investigate, run from monsters (or blow them up once you get outside and into a mecha).  Playing Tagers makes it possible to actually fight some of the monsters, so it makes the game quite different from the normal CoC.
