maze mapping software?

Ous group has just entered a maze:

quote:
you come to a four way stop that is going in completely different directions. You look to your left and you see another long hallway that takes another left turn

You guys can make your own map :D

Is there any software that would be good for this? We dont need fancy graphics or anything, but  Say we write a letter at every intersection and later find that Point A leads to Point G, so we would want to make that fit.we don't know precise lengths of tunnels or angles of turns so we would have to revise our map as we get more information.

Or is pen and paper still king?

In reply to Ice Raven (msg # 1):

It sort of depends on how detailed the maze is, if its 3-dimensional or just flat, and if you want to spend any money.

I've known people to use a spreadsheet program like MS Excel and by reducing the cell height and width to make small squares, you can produce a basic maze map.
If you're more artistic then a basic paint program like MS Paint built into Windows should do.(my current Goto is PaintDotNet which I use at work for technical drawings is free as long as you don't use the MS Store version)
Or you could play with something more advanced like MS Visio, which is good for buildings and linear walls but not so for freehand drawing (Getting it to do a proper Arc is a real pain in the ass, trust me.)

You can obtain a legitimate current copy of Visio and MS Office products for far far less than the official store prices if you look around the internet.

Heck, MS Word works in a pinch. The Draw feature let's you set a grid as the page background and then you can add shapes and connectors. Though Excel and Visio are quicker and cleaner if you have them.

My boyfriend draws up maps for our tabletop games in ADRIFT since he uses it to write IF games anyway, but I like using Visio or something. Sometimes I’ll use Blender if I’m feeling artsy though, but that takes more time than I usually want to spend on a map.

There’s some free random maze generators out there but I think that takes the fun out of it lol

Thanks guys, there are some creative answers there that I like.

Genericus_Maximus, we are the players trying to map the GM's (probably) randomly generated maze...
