Heath:
I'm not sure why you turn everything into a political attack on Republicans.
I was bouncing the "attack" back to the *worst* president in US History, and defending an acceptable moderate. I didn't take this to politics, I simply redirected the focus towards the worst example.
quote:
Taxpayers spent $1.4 billion dollars on everything from staffing, housing, flying and entertaining President Obama and his family last year, according to the author of a new book on taxpayer-funded presidential perks.
I did come across this (for you, Heath): The Wall Street Journal showing that Obama has already golfed more in 20 months than his predecessor did in his entire two terms of 8 years!
Personally, I don't care how many golf excursions a President makes
-- unless they are week-long adventures! Golf games could be 'working' opportunities to discuss things with other politicians/officials, while not being inside an office, and a golf game doesn't necessarily take all day.
Bush stopped taking vacations after 9/11? Are you sure that's a fact? I can't verify that one. I find it hard to believe he cost more to USA than Bush, but I haven't researched the hard numbers so I've got no hard facts behind this belief, but Bush was a billionaire so maybe he footed some of his bills?
But I doubt it.
I do see this:
Bush took the most vacation of ANY President in history, 1020 days from 2 terms, 76 vacations.
"Barely six months into his first term and George W. Bush is taking the longest presidential vacation in history: a month."
Anyway, I foresee that Pres. Obama will likely be invited back for years to Democratic events and will be extremely popular. Pres Bush (& Cheney) wasn't invited back to Republican Convention!! They tried to downplay and distance themselves from an extremely unpopular President -- and claim credit for his successes in the same breath!
And back to the
"things that make you go hmmmm" topic:
Pres Clinton gets impeached for sexual improprieties in the White House.
Pres Bush does not get impeached after sending USA into a war against the wrong country (resulting in 100k+ dead and trillions of $$$ spent), for negligence in responding to Hurricane Katrina, for negligence on warnings of impending 9/11 attack, for blocking investigation of 9/11, for authorizing "extreme interrogation/special methods of questioning/Special renditions", for continually linking Al Queada and Iraq/Saddam Hussein to the public, and more.
Frankly, that is stunning.
I'm still going "hmmmmmm" years later!
