In this game, you make a statement or question that either points out an oddity in language or some other silly statement.  The more it points out something obvious, the better.

Believe it or not, this car (Peel p50) has one seat, and no reverse gear. If you want to back up, you get out and pull it backwards. Also, this thing could book it at sixty. They say the Smartcar is unsafe ... sure. Hummer hits smartcar, smartcar gets trashed. Hummer attempts to hit Peel P50, realizes that he has an incredibly high suspension, and ends up driving over the peel. Therefore, after a certain point ... smaller size = safer.

After you get used to riding a unicycle, it's actually much more convenient and easy to use than a bicycle, and leaves both hands free...it's also kind of fun.  Just doesn't go as fast.  I think of it as a precursor to the Segue.  Unicycles should come back into style so people can text as they bike.  :)

I have to wonder why democrats rejected a proposed republican amendment to the health care bill that would bar using federal funds for sex offenders to purchase Viagra and other erectile dysfunction drugs...

Because any amendment would kick the reconciliation bill back to the House for a "final" vote.  Also, a bill that changes how prescription drugs are handled would, under budget rules, likely require that 60 Senators ok the reconciliation bill instead of only 50.  Thus, if the Democrats were to say, "Yeah, giving Viagra to sex offenders who are in jail is a bad idea, let's not do it anymore," then the health bill itself would likely fail.  It's kind of a tough spot that they're in, but then that's the kind of thing that happens when you try to cram something this massive through without letting it sit around for a number of months while really discussing it.

Personally, I hope it doesn't pass.  Small businsses provide over 50% of the jobs in American and this would really increase the cost for a small business to do business -- we really don't need that in this economy.

How is double posting frowned upon when I am the one who has to clean all the used threads out, and i dont care if i have to do it more often? Its funny how dark and heath decided that it was shameful of me to double-post because it would speed up the rate in which the games would die, when its (fitingly) my position to rake out all the archived threads and stuff them away in a place people could find them anyhow. So in essence, im making more work for myself, which should have no reflection on anyone else. But i suppose some people just feel the need to be pompous and tell everyone else that they are doing something wrong, just because they havent filled their jerk quota for the day. Alas, no skin off my bones. One thing you'll notice about me is that yes, I can be immature at times. Maybe I'm trying to be for a reason. But notice that i never point out anyones flaws, and that I am ALWAYS in a good mood. I dont lash out at people, and i dont dump my problems on anyone else either. Thats just how I operate. Minimal Drama + Maximum Happyness = Better World for Us All. If you learn anything from me before I leave, let it be this: You're attitude affects others, whether its good or bad. They did not decide that. Yoss declared that multiple postings after oneself are derailing and not healthy for the game several years ago. We have tried to abide by that ever since. I realize that with your specific post in question it was more of a glitch-double-post than a self-reply, and in situations like that it can be funny. And yes, it is true that our attitudes effect others. The same goes for you, especially in a role of leadership as a GM. You should be more respecting of people like Heath who have been a part of this community a long time. Try to control yourself here.

Besides, I pointed out the double post in a joking fashion, so I don't see how I'm at fault here.

A few comments:

1) It is funny how that rule was initiated by Yoss, who was the most flagrant violator of double or triple posting.  Yoss came around eventually...in a big way.

2) I have nothing wrong with double posting if there is a reason for it.  In fact, the reason I posted like I did was to make a joke, not a comment.

3) For the record, I never suggested it was shameful to double post, nor do I think it will speed up the rate the board will die.  Those are out and out hallucinations by snot, I guess.  :)

My only concern is if it affects the enjoyment by others on the board and if it might interfere with certain games (like assassins).

And for the record, I really don't remember Yoss or anyone else making a rule about double posting.  I could be wrong, but I just don't remember that ever being a real issue except when Yoss was doing so much to increase his post count.

But yes, double posting just to increase post count is definitely not looked upon kindly.  So just make sure there's a reason to it.

I have to add an addendum.  I just looked back and saw that snot posted two IDENTICAL posts.  That kind of double posting is definitely frowned upon unless there's a really good reason.  If you accidentally do it, you should delete one of them because it artificially inflates your posting score and detracts from the game.

As I recall it was not so much a "rule" as a guidline. Like the Pirate's code. :p

Just before I posted this, ASWoT had 82,781 posts.
That means that ASWoT, all by itself, right now, represents 2% of all RPoL's posts.

If we add in our archived posts, 308,122... then with 390,903 posts out of 4,995,661 posts, ASWoT represents almost 10% of all RPoL's posts.

This game should be destroyed. It has taken over 10% of rpol.

Depends on who you talk to. Going from a strictly biological perspective (with no moral sentiments), homosexuality is an abnormality. Nobody is really certain when it first started to arise, but there have been recorded incidents in human history for thousands of years. It is, however, only recently that it has begun to surface in very large quantities. Could this be a change in humanity as a whole, or merely an increase in an abnormality that will phase itself out? Well look at the animal kingdom. No animal species on this planet practices homosexuality in any significant numbers, and if they do they die out. It's only among humans, the one prevailing sentient species on this world, that it is so wide spread. That indicates that it Has to have have a considerable degree of conscious choice, otherwise if it was strictly biological as so many people incorrectly argue we would see it much more prevalent in other species.

@Bart: Do you mean to say that you believe God would obliterate two entire cities for not being hospitable? That hardly seems reasonable. And if that's the case, why does he allow cities to survive today where so many people are jerks and selfish %&#*@?

Oh ok, well regarding right and wrong then...

Much of the Western world today has come to accept it as tolerable, and even in Asia countries like Japan have ancient roots in the practice. But that makes me wonder, How did an unnatural practice come to be accepted as ok? I'm not condemning it, don't get me wrong, but I want to know, how did a practice that is clearly not natural come to be acceptable as a widespread activity? I mean, we outlaw hallucinogenic drugs because the government declares they are unnatural and bad for you, so why do we allow the unnatural practice of homosexuality, which prevents reproduction (unless one steps outside the practice for that), and has a tendency to spread nasty diseases?

It seems to me very inconsistent. We still outlaw bestiality, which is normally heterosexual relations, but outside the species. We also outlaw necrophilia and pedophilia, which are relations with dead people and people underage. But now all of a sudden we allow it with people of the same gender. Maybe I'm just weird, but that really doesn't make much sense to me.

I believes it comes in our desire recently for "tolerance" of any behaviors others might believe are okay, if they can produce a sizeable enough sub-population.  Heaven forbid we start labeling things "right" or "wrong."  In essence, it stems from a burgeoning amoral attitude (i.e., no objective morality, just subjective to the individual).

So in essence, look at Kisa's post.  She's not saying it's "right," so she's not espousing it as the proper thing to do.  It's hard for me to contemplate people actually espousing sodomy as the best and most proper way to engage in intercourse, but in any case, I digress...

Kisa just doesn't want to say it's "wrong."  She is an examplar of the liberals who label themselves "progressive" by taking the "wrongness" label off of activities, or any label relating to propriety of behaviors.

The other problem here is that there are two different things at play:

1) Homosexuality, as a condition, may not be wrong; it's just who a person is (or has become); and

2) Homosexual activities, such as sodomy.  This is behavior related, not based on the psychological predisposition of the individual.  Therefore, it can be controlled behavior and therefore can be labeled "right" or "wrong" (or "neutral").

No that's not what I was saying. I'm saying it's not wrong because people frown upon Homosexuality. It's a choice, and the United States is a free country and if they want to practice that, it's their right. It's not up to us to judge other people. Plus Homosexuality just doesn't go for guys too. Women are homosexual as well, yet no one frowns down upon that because it's not abnormal. It's only abnormal when a male is homosexual, which in my opinion, is wrong for people to judge it like that. It's an unfair situation.

And Heath, there isn't two things to play. Homosexuality isn't a "condition". You make it sound like a disease and it's contagious. It's not that. It's a choice. Some people are born with more feminine qualities and some with more masculine qualities, but that proves nothing. Just because a man is feminine doesn't label him as a homosexual. Nor does a woman with masculine qualities.

So no, it is not a "condition".

Well, I started writing something on this, but ASWoT isn't an adult or even a mature game, so discussions of these types of issues should possibly be tabled for discussion in another forum.

Homosexuals on average would disagree with you.  First, most of them claim being homosexual is who they are, not a "choice."  It is their condition, just like people are heterosexual or male or female.  However, whether they engage in homosexual activities is a "choice."

You confuse freedom with rightness/wrongness.  I won't argue that homosexuals are free to engage in behaviors they want, but that's a political/societal issue, not a moral one.

For example, it is legal to smoke cigarettes.  Does that mean smoking cigarettes is right?  I can't imagine anyone saying it is the "right" thing to do.  They may have a habit, and they may say the personal enjoyment outweighs the wrongs, but we all agree that cigarettes are harmful to your health.  They are a fairly objective "wrong," even though you have the right to smoke them.

You said "no one" frowns on woman homosexuality.  Yes, actually, over half the country does by a wide margin.  That's demonstrably false.

Your last paragraph doesn't make sense to me.  It's off topic.  We are not discussing traits of femininity, but about the practice of homosexuality.  Many people can be of a homosexual sexual orientation and never engage in homosexual activity.  I can't imagine anyone arguing they have done anything morally wrong.  It's about those who engage in the behaviors who become the target of moral imperatives.

Even though I disagree with some people and agree with others and even disagree and agree with different parts of what one person said...

So they started making you take your shoes off at the airport after the shoe bomber incident a number of years ago; I'm just glad they didn't go that far after the underwear bomber incident.  That would make airport security lines very...interesting.

Actually the new TSA pat-down procedures can be very thorough.  I've had several friends say they felt violated by the procedure, and others have spoken out about it as a form of sexual violation and harassment.  Jesse Ventura has a law suit against it, saying he's a veteran & former Governor (w/a metal hip or soemthing) and shouldn't be subject to it b/c he's proved his loyalty.

The footage of the little kids having to open their pants for the security guards to feel inside is quite revolting, IMO.  Very hard to say "Glad we live in a free country" as we are getting probed and losing our former right to freedom from unnecessary searches...

So here's a question -- no one went to jail when thousands of finance professionals made a mistake & bankrupted the US banking system (& then got bailed out w/o public vote) & then banks posted record profits & exec's got bonuses ... and none have been charged, and none went to jail.  (I had to say it again.)

But when hundreds of thousands of people turn out to protest in the Occupy Wall Street, we have thousands of arrests -- for excercising the right to assembly and freedom of speech.
