Pathfinder Spheres

Are any of the Pathfinder 1 GMs experienced with the Spheres of Power? It's quite popular amongst the Pathfinder communities and weirdly I haven't seen any games here that use them (could also me not paying well enough attention).

I'm running one of those currently. I could probably run a second, but it'd likely depend on what sort of game one was looking for; while forming groups for pathfinder games is easy, player retention is not high.

Amen to that, I feel like part of the problem on rpol is that you can't see players past behavior, so you can't vet them that thoroughly as you can on giantitp and mythweavers. I am relatively well experienced with spheres rules, and have been in some spheres games at lower levels. I'd like to see if we can get some experience with a higher level game, like lvl15 starting lvl. But it's possible you're completely uncomfortable with that.

A couple of game ideas:
  • A Fate/Grand Order type game with about 4 players. Each controlling a Champion or a Master, with perhaps 2 aligned (maybe even siblings) Masters, so we don't have to deal with PvP too much.
  • A Goddess organizes a contest to give her Divine Spark away, and a band of adventurer friends sign up for the challenge, perhaps driven by a greater cause (restoring their homeland, reviving a dear comrade after an epic adventure resulting in a tragic death, that kind of thing).
  • Dragon Wars: like Star Wars but then with ... dragons :p

If you feel like these ideas are dumb, let's continue the brainstorm. Perhaps others have better ideas.

I'm more experienced with low-level games, but that's just the nature of running games on a level system - high level play is inherently less frequent. Shouldn't be that much of a problem, especially since Spheres of Power inherently brings the power level down some.

I think I would like the "Goddess context" idea; I don't really know the Fate series well enough to run a game in that setting, and Star Wars is pretty much inherently a low level setting, but a team context for a godly prize seems like it would be a perfect fit for a high-level game. I feel like that's something I would like to run.

Sounds cool, honestly that one interests me the most as well. I think it creates an interesting dynamic of having an epic adventure, combined with the group having to figure out who would be most fitted to get the Divine Spark were they to win.

How do we proceed? I take it you need some time to think about the details of the game?

We can probably discuss this via rmail - you give me a list of things you'd like to see in a game, I give you a description of how I'd handle things as well as explaining my requirement, then back-and-forth until we have something that satisfies us both enough for me to make a post in the "player wanted" thread and start the game.
