In reply to Riku Key (msg # 1017):

"Then we should make haste." Diana said with a smile.
"Take a tight grip." She warned.
A minute later, she spurred the horse on to a full gallop.
An hour and a half later they arrived at the ferry.
Diana paid to have her horse rubbed down, fed and watered.
Then she moved to where whoever was in charge was.
She relayed the message, giving minimum details about the freed slaves.

The fellow in charcge of the Inn ( and the Ferry outpost). Listens to Diana, his eyes light up when he says   the Arrows  will pay the Bill for the comfort of the ex-slaves....we'll start heating water now!...I'll send the ferry over to the  other side, to see if they have some extra  clothing as well...

There are a few 'new' people , since last the left..a couple travelers with thier bags sitting outside the Inn, looking like they are waiting for something.

Diana went to make casual conversation with the newbies.  She was curious, about them, and what they were up to.
So, she causally made conversation.

Riku fluttered off the horse from the long ride, heard the response of the one that greeted them with a nodded response.  She crossed her arms and with a strong tone.

Very well, she said.  These people have seen and been through things that most normal folk shouldn't ever go through.  They deserve at the least the very good that you can provide them, if not the best.

The  New folks at the Ferry where a Mixed bag..Humans  and half-elves that were either on thier  way to  Tou, or the Black Timber...or..looking for work..at least half  of them signed up to stay at the Ferry, since they lost a few folks during the attack... those who were going to continue on. where relaxing , waiting for a ship that might be going to Tou, or a caravan that was ehaded that way, or perhaps, to the BlackTimber.

...The  people and  The Arrows were within sight of the Ferry now, some troops of the Ferry Opened the GAtes and Fanned out, watching over thier  approach.

As they get close to the ferry, a loud neigh breaks the air as Navarre comes galloping up to Laithia. He nuzzles the elf who smiles and kisses his muzzle. "Navarre..Foril...Foril...Navarre," she says introducing the two. Navarre nuzzles Foril, sniffing his hair before following along behind the two.
"I will probably hear something about him breaking out of his stall. I am sure I will have to pay for it," she says ruefully to Foril.
"So have you ever had any pets or companions?" she asks as they walk up and see the people gathered and waiting for the ferry.

Luthien WISHES he had his mount, but the Commander advised him not to bring it, and Paladins are good about following orders. Still, if they're in town, perhaps he can discuss some things with the Commander, as the inn counts as 'safe ground' and debriefings on actions taken and why are acceptable now.

Foril dealt well with being sniffed, "Aquamarine was as close as I got.  An ugly little fish that was as orange as the giants are tall.  My mom ate him alive when she was on a high in front of about a quarter of the city, there were fireworks and a great deal of nudity involved.  I doubt more than one or two noticed anything she did.  No less than half of the city was staring at some sort of hallucinations any given time of the day.  I was mortified though.  It actually got me to stop my work."  Something troubled him about that memory... but there was also resolve in his eyes and arms.

"You two been together long?"

Re: The Cat Hunt

Justin Goes to the Small Temple. It is a One Room Builing, with a smaller Room in the back for the Cleric that is in charge of the  Temple. There are small statues of all the Goodly Gods on the Right hand side of the room..In the sneter, are statutes of the Neutral gods..on the left sie of the room are three pews facing the right side..however..in one corner..is a statue of Neta.

The Cleric came out...his wounds from the battle alot better, he sees Justin's eyes study the  statues and shakes his head  as he looks at Neta,..That Damnable Elf out there, insisted i put one up for her....never knew some one to give praise to darker gods...at least..not our goodly folks.... he goes on to expalin, that once a week he empties the little jars for each god into a bag, marked for them. About once a month, A High Priest or Captain of  the Paladins, from Ironmond will sweep through the smaller places, gathering   those bags  and take them to Ironmound to be delivered to thier Houses there.

..........................................

Kree, Ivy and Osgar ( the leader of the Ferry Garrison)..take a walk around the defenses  and Kree points out places thaat shsould be made stronger, or higher, Osgar takes a Tablet and charcoal stick frome his beltpouch and  makes note.

When they are  Finsihed, the Note the  People are coming from the BArn..alot cleaner and well dressed in goodly clothing...there is a fire outside the barn where two of the serving ghirls are throwing the rags in.

Kree notes that the Little elf-maid, still carries her  Cat sword.

They enter the   Inn, there are three tables put together in the  middle for the people, Kree and his Unit have two tables off to the  right, by the windows..other tables are pushed to the Left and Back for the people of the Ferry to go eat.

As they sit down and begin to eat Kree, Once more says to them,...Come the Morn, you will have 4 chocies....1st? is to try to return to your Villages...if they still stand....the second? is to sign on as part of the Garriosn, or find work at this ferry...the  3rd, perhaps make your way to Tou, or even Bowshot or Ironmound...and lastly, If you have no home, and no idea..I suggest Razorhawk Village....you will be welcome there..and those of you who wish, can Join the Hunters...those whodon't , will find plenty of work and a home you can call your own....Now? Good Osgar has gien you the toip floor this night, eat well...sleep well...anbd for those  heading to  the Black Timber, and My village?..I need you to carry a dispatch for me to the Sages there...Enjoy the night...

He holds his  Glass of  Elven Gold up and Downs it, Giving the folks a rare smile as he  moves to his own table....once he is a few feet away the people begin to talk and chatter excitedly, as they banter  about where they will go.

Justin nods appreciatively the Clerics discourse is most informative. One be Justin Haveslane Devout of Eta he respectfully introduces pausing to allow the Priest to make comment then continues Aye One hath found Captain Kree hast many idiosyncrasy anst a some flaws. Hopefully these canst be worked out of his system with extensive association with goodly folk. How fareth Thee Devout anst Thy charges, he politely enquires.
After offering Thanks and supplication to Eta
After which he heads to the Inn Justin joining the Arrows as Kree advises the refugees, and toasts their health. As they gather to discuss their next step

Re: The Cat Hunt

"Navarre go back to your stall and we will be out later," she says kissing the horse again. He nods his head and turns to nuzzle Foril before heading back to the stable.
At Foril's story, Laithia looks shocked. She takes Foril's hand and holds it as they walk inside the Inn and head to the tables set aside for the Arrows. She gives his hand a squeeze as she tries to wrap her mind around this. "I am so sorry Foril! I cannot believe your mother would do that! I guess when you are messed up, you will do anything. That was not very nice of her," she says giving his hand a squeeze.
"I am lucky to have Navarre! He was a young horse and they could not break him. He was out of control. No one could touch him! I walked right up to him and laid my hand on his muzzle and we connected. He has been a faithful companion and has kept me from being lonely. I spend a lot of time alone so it is nice to have him around," she says with a smile.
Thinking a moment, she takes a breath and gives Foril a smile. "It has been about 5 years since I found him and took him. He is with me always. He hates when I sleep inside like this. I am sure he was a handful while I was gone. Still I could not ask for a better friend. Well I could ask for another.." she says biting her lips as she looks at Foril through her lashes.

Luthien heads for the temple...the debreifing can wait for a while. He wishes there was more then one, but he was certainly glad there was any temple at all! He found his brother Knight Justin within, of course, and the old cleric.

"Greetings from myself, as well."

He heads to Tra's statue, of course, for his own prayers.

Foril smiled, "It isn't so messed up.  I have no qualms with eating fish.  Eating them live is a bit eccentric... Ammy wasn't an animal I loved anyway.  The real problem is that I have some responsibility in what happened not just to my mother but our people at large.  Most of us who felt a strong drive were intelligent children who were looking to get into the academy of magic.  Alchemy, distitlation, healing, herbalism, no one of us could see the effects of what we created until it was done and documented. If we'd done it intentionally we'd have made a cure."

He returned the hand squeeze, "It would take five years to see if I'm nearly as good a friend.  I hope I can measure up to that kind of dedication, my sense of smell isn't so good and I am trying to learn more to help my homeland.  I appreciate your understanding and friendship in this strange land."

"I appologize in advance if this is considered forward among your people... my people consider it merely the first real token of friendship," that said he moved quickly to get past the awkwardness of what he'd just said, to hug her tightly and kiss softly each of her cheeks before returning to merely holding hands and check her response.

Diana needed a bath.  She waited till the women and children had gotten done with their baths before taking one herself.  She lowered herself into the bath, and just relaxed.  It was cerainly relaxing.
When she was done, she dressed and went back to the inn.

Riku had flittered around the town even about 10 yards out from the sturdied fencing just for her her own sanity.  When everyone had bathed and settled into the Inn for a meal, she meandered around the ferry town and took stock of everything that was there.  She eventually  made her way in and took a look over the capturers to confirm their contentment before she found herself a nook to sit in and rest as the rest of the Arrows group ate.

Laithia listens to Foril's words. When he hugs her, she returns the hug. Her arms wrap around him and give him a squeeze back. When he breaks away, he can tell she would have stayed like that longer. His kiss on her cheeks makes her smile and blush just a bit though it is not from the forwardness. Her eyes hold a fire as he awakens her desires yet she takes a deep breath getting her heart rate back under control. When he takes her hand, she gives it a squeeze and pulls him towards two seats before she can do something he may not want.
Once seated, she takes a deep breath and closing her eyes momentarily, she tries to calm her lustful thoughts. With a shake of her head, she gives him a little laugh. It is a light sound like the tinkling of bells as her hand holds his tightly. "You are not being too forward at all. I am happy to call you friend and look forward to getting to know you better," the last part is said in a friendly tone but her eyes hold that fire and an invitation that seems a bit more than just friendly.
She pulls her eyes from his as she watches the others take seats and waits for the meal to be brought out. "So you are some fellow students help to bring this drug about? If that is true I can see why you want to go back and make things right. I will say, it is not like this was intentional and it is still their fault for letting something take control of them. I mean we all have choices and they made poor ones. I do still sort of feel like eating your pet fish live was a bit harsh though," she says her smile light as she leans her head against his shoulder her thumb lightly caressing the back of his hand.

Re: The Cat Hunt

Foril smiled softly to her and while his eyes said he too wanted a more intimate relationship, he was also burdened by a good deal... even of baggage he hadn't spoken to her about yet.  He had a lot of insecurities and varriables that would make much more than good friends an impossibility for him right now.  Not that he didn't want more, but that he was too intellectual for his own, or in this case even others' pleasure.

"She wasn't doing it as any kind of punishment... she just mistook him in her delusions for a candy, and there is someone to blame other than themselves.  Testing on sumilacra and volunteers... for what we produced, was well within the projected, healthy, responses.  Someone tampered with the formula, blamed us, and made veritable slaves to some extent or another, of most of the population.  Only they couldn't control them and it made a mess of things because all he could do was stand ranting on the parapets while the hallucinating population more or less went about their days.  The city's magic will sustain it and the people... more or less... but some will probably have died from lack of nutrition even though there is plenty enough to eat, they will have refused in order to take more Feydra."  He was calculating something as his fingers ran over an imaginary abacus, "The city may be reduced by as much as 40% population by their enslavement... and their captor does have a name.  A name I plan to remove from all records and existence to protect future generations.  I am not quite strong enough to face that foe however.  At least, not to contain their damage in a conflict."

After a little eating he offered, "I will need to speak magic with Kash but perhaps we can pool resources and both come off the stronger for our purposes because of it... Please excuse me for a little while."

That said he approached the other arcane caster, "I know we've just met, but I think we are on the same side, I was considering that we each might know some spells that the other is unfamiliar with... if you have not reached the limit of your understanding yet, perhaps we might share our knowledge resources."

Laithia sees the hesitation in his eyes and realizes there is so much more that he is not telling her. She wonders about his story as he elaborates a bit more on his people and their social issues. She still feels bad for him and wishes there was something more she can do when he mentions going to talk to the moody Kash.
When he moves away, Laithia gets up and moves to sit next to Ivy. Pulling her chair close to his, she leans against him resting her head on his shoulder a sad expression on her face as she takes his hand and holds it tightly in hers. Her other hand slowly caresses the back of the hand she is holding as she draws her legs and leans more into him. "Sometimes I do not understand why there is so much sadness and pain in the world. I just wish it would all go away and I could truly sleep through a night without waking to nightmares of my parents dying or others dying. I just wish the world could be happy," she sighs sadly her face the face of a little girl trying to make sense of the world around her.
