Re: The Cat Hunt

Kree lowers his head, and gives it a shake. The raises it as he looks out over the grasslands  once more,Good Justin. There are many types of slights in this  world. The worst slight, is the slight you see, but is not there.....

Indeed Goodfellow Kree tis ast was one hath hoped; yet yon Outlander hath not sought to correct ones conclusion. Rather dismissing ones comments, as such One is obliged to conclude such be a slight.

Re: The Cat Hunt

Durzak is going to stay out of this arguement for the time being, and find a place that would give some semblence of cover and a view of the road and pay attention to the job at hand, the job of kill the cats.

Re: The Cat Hunt

Rolf glances at the gauntlet, but keeps the largest part of his attention on Justin.  With this twist of events, the fellow was perhaps still priest and companion, but he now also was a threat.

"I'm here to hunt the bastard cat folk.  If you need a thrashing first, then let's be quick about it."

Threat the fellow may be, but there was no call for blood between them, at least in Rolf's view.  Given that, he takes a few steps back and starts setting aside his lesser weapons and equipment, retaining the sword until he caught the direction the wind was blowing....

Kree does not even look back as he  says coldly,..if your foolishness costs us  our chance  at these raiders?  I will kill you both myself.....All we need is for  one of you to bleed  and allow them to catch your scent...

Ivy clucks his tongue from in the tree, his bow in his left  hand as he splits  his attaention between the  Arrows  and the Grasslands...Best if you boys  listen to him....

Re: The Cat Hunt

about  10 yards  from the road  we came in, there are some rocks and a downed Tree. Set up there. Your armor  will belend in more with the rock....when  we see the Raiders  Attack, we will come out... any with bows  will move  and fire, While  melee folks  will charge..once we get close  enough, we will all go to blades...

Cousin? we are going to wait for them to hit the caravan before we attack?..why not hit them when we see them...it would cut down on the losses to the caravan?

Kree shakes his head, The Caravan's Losses are not  my main concern...stopping the raiders is...if we come out too soon, we may get some..maybe even half...but the rest will run away....once they hit the caravan, thier bloodlust will be up, they will not even see us coming....we were not hired by the caravan to protect them...right now, we are bounty hunting...and perhaps..getting a measure of revenge..we owe the merchnats...nothing.

As you say cousin, Be right nice to take them all....

Re: The Cat Hunt

Rolf rolls his eyes at Kree's threat.  "Then let's get to it."  Rolf, quite a skilled hunter, knows the benefit of patience once the hunt is on, but he's wasted several days in these lands and seems no closer to putting down the feral bastards than he was when he stepped off the boat.

Grumbling a bit to himself, he gears up again.

A hiss comes down from the Tree, Cousin? Three streams  moving through the high  grasses on he other side of the road....

Kree looked up, they must be the  Lynx...watch..be  quiet...not movements...if they go back to the others....we should have  a goodly chance...

Justin stops moving, quietly scanning the area and listening for sounds of the cats approach. He hopes the wind isnt blowing towards them. when the all clear is given he takes up position in the boulders as advised.

Durzak stays as motionless as he can and scans the area looking for anything, while waiting for the all clear to be given after which he will join the rest of the party at the boulders.

Re: The Cat Hunt

As the Group looks out over the Grasslands., they only see the  waving of the Grass as the winds below , toward the group. From the Southeast side of the road, near the fork. they suddenly notice furrows in the  grass.

a minute or so later , three Cat folk, step out on the road. They are between Goblin and halfling sized. All three have Blondish fur, save  for  some differnat black markings  around thier eyes  and ears, Two have small bows, the one in the Middle has a hand crossbow. all three carry wicked looking  curved blades  on thier belts...they bear no packs, thery were traveling light.

Stopping at the fork, the leader sends   one running down the  road to the east, the other  on scans the area while the leader takes a few steps up the fork that leads to where the party is hidden. The leader  does not come up the road very far, when the runner comes  back  shouting somehting in a strange snarliy language.... All three stop at the  crossroads  again and look down the orad towards the sea...The leader looks up at the  sun, which  is already on the decline, and he motions for them to  head back the way they came..very quickly, they sprint..those who have not seen Cat Folk are impressed  by thier  speed. The enter the grasslands in the exact path they exited from...about 3 minutes later  Ivy hisses down,,,They are gone...I only ccaught a few words...something about a camp....

Justin takes note of the speed of the creatures which he could use to determine a method of spoiling their ability. Caltrops or tripcords sprang to mind.
Perchance a campsite be yonder. Wouldst it be safe to determine such ast it may be the target yon creatures intend to attack. Captain Kree how longst would Thee anticipate we hath before yon return.

Kree shakes his head,..Unkown , Justin. we do not  know how far in advance they send merenary scouts...had they been Leopards..they would have been within  100 yards  of the main group..Lynx are used for stealth..but humans  and  can folk alike...The Camp, could be that of the Caravan...Cat folk do not  like to attack at night. they fear death at night, that the souls will not  fiund thier way to thier gods...

Re: The Cat Hunt

Kree looks at the Sky, then answers,Depending  how far away the main group is...they will either attack  as the Caravan begins to move, or when they reach the fork..from what the others have told us, they Cats  get away  before any survivors  can find help...There is  a sad lack of Female survivors. which means, they are focusing  on female slavers..maybe for breeding and such...either that  of the  Red Isle Halflings have a run on female slaves...

If  we see the scouts  again...that will mean the main party is following..until then..eat cold food, keep movement ot a minimum....we just  might get these bastards...

Re: The Cat Hunt

the  day goes  by slow. Kree tells  the group to take some time, 2 at a time to eat and drink, but a few yards away from the front of the tree lines.

Near dark, a rider comes up the road..it is a scout for the Caravan, by the  tunic he wears...his horse spins  around in the  fork in the road..he waits a good  15 Minutes, and  returns the way he came.

Kree says softly to the others...finish your  food..gear up....should only be a few hours  now....if they attack.

Re: The Cat Hunt

Kree looks up at the sky. Ivy does  so as  well and shrugs as Kree answers,...if the caravan is on the heels of the scout...they should be here ..at the fork...in an hour..Sun will set in 3 hours...That gives the Cats 2 hours to kill..loot  and run...

There is  a very dark grin on the elf's face as he adds,..of course...they do not know...we are here...
