Re: The Cat Hunt

Kree and Rolf  take thier  Prisoners   to the North... once they reach a Mile or so away,  Kree Tells  Rolf to  throw the  chained one down, so it  cannot get up..

Motioning with his arm for  Rolf to roll the  chained lion over, so he could  see what Kree was about to do.

a Flash of a spin kick took the legs out  from the tied up Liuon and it hit the  ground on its  Back.

Oddly enough Kree Pulled one of his razor sharp Throwing dagger from his left sleeve as he gently laid his bow and quiver off to the side.

Looking at the two Lions, he speaks to the chained one, though his hand  is on the chest of the tied one,..Now...I know you know common...i know enough Cat words to get by...but not  for what i need right now....You see..my friend and I, have deep hate for slavers...Cat folk, just adds  wood to the fire....So?..Here  is what is going to happen in the next few hours...I am going to ask a question....I expect a truthful answer...should i not like the answer given..I will peel a square of flesh off you Comrade here...You know all this though? I learned it from Cat folk...only they use thier claws..aye?

The Lion who was  laying there  with  Kree's knee in his chest  tried to roar, But  Kree hit it quickly in the throat, it choked and gasped a bit,..i do not have the time for games...no time for your roars..perhaps..calling for help?..here is what the ends are....You will either die, By a Quick  slash of your throat...or  by the bleedign and pain caused  by the loss of block  as i peel off  squares of  flesh to give to some halfling, to  make a quilt....You..the Chgained one..will be  taken to the river...where  my firned  and I will toss you in as a gift to the  Serpants, and  sacrifice to the river gods.....however..shoudl you answer my questions  quickly...truthfully?...we will kill you both quickly here and now.....so...lets see.....

he looked to the   Lion underhis knife,..where were you taking the  slaves?

Re: The Cat Hunt

Foril nodded, "Well, home is the Senalli Forest, Foliss City specifically.  The city is woven from living trees and magic that has been forgotten because no one has needed to upkeep it in more than ten thousand years.  We've had eight thousand years of peace, preceeded by two thousand years of the Bloodwars.  Our books are sketchy about what happened during the Bloodwars, but it seems not too unlike what you all have here.  No offense."

Foril went back a bit in his story, "Laughter fills the several miles of city, only a few ancient trees allow foot access to the ground in the form of towers of living wood.  The only real problem we know is the abundance of Feydra... a recreational drug refined from faerie dragon's breath.  Our food grows from the city itself, our needs are always met and we are more or less a simple folk, a few are determined to push the envelope of a craft, but entertainment is the defacto ruler.  I know an aspiring craftsfolk who spent ten years weeping collectively for the loss of knowledge from before the war.  The dwarves of the Ironspine, who we trade with being that Senalli goes in places nearly to their mountain peak doors... they once shared their halls with firegiants... before the giants went mad.  We think that was part of the Bloodwar.  They are now mostly a sprawling military society that occasionally can spare enough hands to call to us for our limited structural magics to restore another passage or another feasthall if they are lucky."

Foril sighed softly, "There's so much to say in the smells and sounds, the troubles that were and how no one thinks something bad could happen again.  History has shown it can happen.  They chase the dragon smoke and dance with fey... they drink with dwarves and game with humans.  They are so happy it makes them seem stupid almost."  After talking so much he decided to wait for any responce from her as he walked with her.

Re: The Cat Hunt

Laithia walks next to Foril listening to him talk about his home. She may appear lost in his words but she is still alert as they walk taking in everything around them. She imagines what his home is like and can almost see the ancient trees and the beauty it holds.

"It sounds absolutely magical! I would love to see such a place. My home is very plain. Nothing quite so grand!" she says thinking on the small house she lived in with her parents. After that, it was still a small place with Kree and Ivy. They were simple homes for simple folk.

"The worst part is that bad things should not happen to your home! It is horrid that we cannot find peace with each other. Why do we torment each other? Why must things like this happen? Why do we feel the need to be so unkind?" she says softly.

Laithia waits to see if he has any thoughts on her purely rhetorical questions. She was very interested in letting him talk more. She always enjoyed listening to people talk about their happy homes, she in a sense lived through them. It helped her to know that for her pain and loss their was someone else who happy and loved by a mother and father. "So did you leave parents back there? Brothers? Sisters? A lover?" she asks with a small smile as they continue to walk and talk quietly.

Re: The Cat Hunt

Foril blushed for just a moment, "Ah... I'm an only child.  I personally think freyda may have a sterilizing effect on my people.  No one would notice though... with elves living so long individually.  Not many funerals, not many births, it could just be how we even out in the great peace.  I think it's the drugs.  Most report seeing amaizing and wonderful things... but some few report terrors that kill their minds and cause them to seek more freyda for other psychotropic barriers to hide behind... either way... most people there do the drug.  It looks nice on the surface but I fear it is rotting in the core.  There are some few of us who took to adventuring.  We promised to make our home greater upon our return and sincerely doubt anyone will notice our leaving... assuming we return.  We couldn't bear to leave children behind there... with addicts and idiots to raise them while we were away.  While I loved each of my friends dearly, my parents were among the deluded and the adict.  They were always around but never there.  I suppose their neglect prompted me to stand on my own."

He sighed again, "Your land has evils that are plain and open, not given any quarter.  My land glistens with ignorance and sparkles with apathy.  Its dirtier here, but easier for me to live in than any mattress of my parents' home.  No... I left no one behind.  We sought different things though.  This... savage land should give me strength.  If we all return... then we will use the law and apathy of others to overthrow that great city and rebuild it to a propper place."

"Peace is one thing... but there will always be dark hearts out there... those who seek power merely to have more than others.  Those who neglect others simply because they do not want to bother.  That's why I want power... to shield those who don't.  This is a good place for me.  Your land is my wonder just as it seems mine is to you," he said finishing with a smile.

Re: The Cat Hunt

Laithia listens to Foril's words and cannot help but feel sad. It seemed no place was paradise! There was something wrong no matter where you were! She admires his words and strength for getting out of such a place. It would have been easy for him to stay there, to fall victim to this drug like so many others had. He did not though and she admired him for that. When she smiled at him, he could see the admiration in her gaze as her hand reached out to give his hand a squeeze. Though a part of her wanted to hang onto him longer, she released him a bit reluctantly as she returned her sight to the woods around them.

"You are a very strong person! There are not many that could do what you have done. I am sure you will one day return and make things right with your people. I would be honored to help you when that time comes!" her voice is strong and clear and he can tell by the tone she is a woman of her word.

"Ever since my parents were murdered before my eyes....I always hoped there was a paradise out there. Somewhere that pain did not exist and people could live happily. It seems it does not exist but if we work hard...we can attempt to make it happen! That is what keeps me going everyday. If I can save one child from the pain I underwent or an adult from losing their child or spouse then I have done good! I just feel like doing this I can put my demons to rest!" she says with passion as her green eyes harden a bit.

Ivy gets  up as he closes up  all his odds and end, replacing them in pockets  of his pack. He  ruffles the gilrs  head  and winks at the woman, who smiles  at him as she bites her bottom lip a bit.

Ivy  carries his bow in his left hand  and steps into the trees, He too seems relaxed...he begins to whislte a bit of a tune...it is not long , before the  Young Elfmaid with the CAt sword begins to sing some of the words softly...the  man  joins in as well, as well as the 'leader' woman with him...some of the others  join in as well, until the song has been sung three times through...

In reply to Justin (msg # 947):

"So, what land are you from?" Diana asked.
She gave him a smile.

"I'm a refugee from world" Diana said.

"I was born a pricness.  The last of the line.  My father's government was overthrown by a traitorous general.  He executed all of my faimily, except for a few.  Those few of us were magially exiled to different reallms.  I wound up here.  That was five years ago."
She said, with a somewhat sad smile.

Even after all these years, she found this adopted land of hers fasicating.  While she hadn't found anyone like her people, she had found adventure, to say the least!
She had struggled learning the language, taking three weeks to really get a handle on it, and then another three more weeks getting it down.  And that was just common.
She had learned Elf, Goblin and Orc.  She had travelled with a mercenary band for two years, learning all she could about the land.

It was with them that she had learned her search was, in part futile.  They had come across a very powerful wizard, and after doing him a favor, she had requested information on how to get home.  When he had told her there was nothing he could do, she was shocked, angery, frustrated, to say the least.

Now, five years later, although, she still longed to return home, this land had become more home then she realized.

Rolf pushes the chained cat to the ground.  Noting one foot at an odd angle, Rolf quickly stmops, looking to brake some bones by way of ensuring the cat stays down.  "Best to keep down or you'll make him angry."

Watching the elf put the other cat down, Rolf flips the chained cat over, none too gently.  Grabbing up the cat's hair, or mane, or whatever, he ensures the cat can watch what's going on, though maybe not as comfortably as it might wish.

"perhaps, she does." Diana said witha nod.
"The biggest irony is I've gracked down three extremely powerful mages, thinking they had to be able to sent me home, only to be told "sorry, we can't do that."
"For five years I've been looking.  And, yet, the answer seems to be just that.  That I'm stuck.  The Mage who snet me here said there was no way back, but of course, I didn't believe him.  After all, who would?" Diana said.
"The ironic thing is, the more I"ve searched, the more this world has become home." She said, with a smile, and a wink.

Re: The Cat Hunt

What wind was Blowing, was blowing  south and east...into thier camp, from the Storm River.

There was A Roar..off in the distance....a few moments  later...the roar of defiance, was replaced  by a Roar of pain.....Then...a roar..if it could be called that...of..terror....

Ivy came out of the trees, a smile on his face,...well?..seems like the Lions are learning  how it feels to be a captive...and what happens..when you Cross  ,The Arrows...

.........................................................

Kree wiped the Blade off, on the dead Lion's Fur. he repalced the throwing  dagger into his sleeve, and smiled at the second Lion...the Lion took no comfort in the smile. The Elf replaced his pack and Quiver. Picked up his  bow and Nodded to Rolf.

We will drag this  bastard to the Storm....we should be able to run most of the  way back in an hour or so..depending...

Kree will grab a lenght of Chain, and when Rolf  does the  same, they Drag the  thing  for some 3 hours...they approach the  banks of the strom, Kree signs to Rolf to be ware of  other  foes, or animals that may seek them as  food..

Once they get to the bank , he hauls the second Lion  up, and says,...You have  captured humans and elves....you killed  the very young, and the very old...the helpless...and..you fed  on...and put  fear into..those you took as slaves......Your Leader  paid for this with his life...and, as painful an end, as i could give him....we must now, balence the  circle of life.....you fed on Humans  and Elves...The  River creatures, will feed on you...

The Lion struhggled against the chains, it Growled in terror.....you said...you would give us  a Quick Death....My Leader..Suffered more then any we took captive, before his  spirit broke from his body.....Do not  feed me...alive to the Serpants!...you gave your word!

Kree Looked down on the fear in the  big CAt's face...he seemed to relish the ssight......well...Cat? One must realize this....Elves do not keep thier  words, that are given to Slavers....and to people , who have eaten..my people...so...I suppose you could say...I lied....But Eta and Neta will forgive  me for that, I am most certain...May Mina take your soul as a payment  for your sins...and may the serpants feast on your body...

The Cat  struggled harder..It screamed in  broken common,NO!......NO!....

Kree Motions  for Rolf to  het the  thing's  shoudler while he grabbed both feet,..On three..we  swing him out...not to deep mind you, i want the smaller ones to tear bits off him...too deep?..and a Big one will get him...  he nodded......one....twooooooo...Three!  the Cat swung out into the  Air, and hit the water about  10 yards out, The CAt's head  was Just above the  water, the chains  holding him at his waist and feet..

Kree crouched as he watched,..Unless you are in a hurry, Good Rolf?...I would like to see  how long this takes.....

Thankfully, Luthien completely missed what was happening to the Lion...though he did hear roaring, he didn't know catfolk well enough to tell the difference between angry, pain, and terrified.

He did not miss, however, the girl who was trying very hard to clean her hand...and offered her the soap he uses for grooming.

"See if this  helps."

Kashtheil kept his watch, on the area ahead of him. He tried to block out the sounds and concentrated on his watched area. This is not the library. Life is hard, but one must have compassion as well or they are no better than the beasts they fight. Kree has lost some of that compassion.

Kashtheil heard Riku. "Yes my dear, how may I help you?"

Laithia listens to Foril and watches as he offers his bedroll to the now freed slaves. She had not thought to bring hers figuring they would be back before she would need to sleep. Now she wished she had thought a bit more about the people they were rescuing.

"Those are very grand plans! As mentioned, I wouldl love to help but it will be quite the task. I am sure none of them see anything wrong with what they are doing. They are happy and content and cannot look beyond that to what is really going on," she says thinking about how people never want to admit they have a problem.

"How long have you been away from home?" she asks him turning to meet his gaze.

With a soft smile he noted the others dragging off the Lion, "About four years mostly traveling boring roads, occasionally finding some tidbit that causes me to change the way I understand the entirety of the universe... or world we live in.  They are grand plans though, and I expect that only elves would have the lifetime to see it through... humans are interesting with their short lifespan they have such a fierce grasp on the inpermenance of the world... they see things fading away, or themselves, and struggle to work all the harder to make things last or to make their difference on the world.  There is no one in my home city, the whole kingdom in that great wood... that has not spent almost a whole week in one spot, but always been free to move.  I have never known a human who was able to stand still for more than the time it took them to sleep, and usually not even then," he finished with a light chuckle.

The just over six hours they would be gone for, was a long time for those still in the campgrounds.  "I saw you eye my bedroll, I never go anywhere without all of my belongings because I never know when I'll be back to a place to pick things up again.  Not that I am particularly thoughtful of others.  How long have you been away from home?"
