Re: The Cat Hunt

Rolf grumbles, having been in a sour mood since the expected assault on cat folk had slipped through their fingers.

"If the don't attack us, I'd be willing to take the fight to them." he mutters.

Re: The Cat Hunt

Giving  a slight shake of his head, The elf speaks slowly, as if talking to an addled child,...we  let them attack the caravan first....once thier bloodlust is up, they will not see us  coming until it is too late... These are not  the run of the mill,  Cats uyou might have fought in village  skirmishes..these are warriors, stealers of lives, as well as goods....I want to wipe them out...and shoudl any escape..try to follow thier  trail....If it works, as it normally does...we may get to send two flights of arrows into them, while those of us who do not use bows  charge....Once the Battle is  joined, with us adding to the chaos...then we start to stack up fur covered bodies....

Re: The Cat Hunt

Justin checks his equipment ensuring the fixtures housing a series of darts on the inside of his shield allow their quick removal, for ease of throwing. Once satisfied he offered a quiet prayer to Eta which included a side note to her sister. Adjusted his position sipped some water and waited for the forthcomming skirmish.

The group  waits, Ivy still in the tree with his bow  ready. The  sounds  of wagons  and horse were getting closer..Ivy hissed  from in the  tree, and pointed to the  south...small lines in the high grass, slowly getting closer to the fork in the road..........

Re: The Cat Hunt

Drasius halted her horse letting the wagons go forward a bit before resuming the walk beside them. She was dressed differently then before, from her usual dark half plate to a full plate of black leather. She wore a cloak over her head leaving her right shoulder exposed, revealing the red Arrow of the clan with a crescent moon behind it, telling Kree and Ivy that it was Drasius. She turns her head to where the group would be hiding and they would notice that she also wore a clothe mask covering her whole face. She even carried a larger bow it would seem.

The Wagons  Rolled, two of them, LArge  Canvas  covered, each drawn by  4 horses.  One out rider had  gone towards the small wood, where Kree and his team are hidden, two more riders  are on the  flanks, one  on each side...there is another , Hooded Rider as rear guard.

In the back of the  2nd  wagon is either  a YOung  Boy, or teenage  girl...

Re: The Cat Hunt

The wagons  turned to follow the lead scout  towards the  small wood that the Arrows  hid..  when suddenly small arrows  few from the Grasses, stiking the lead horses of  each wagon,  5 Lynx, cat folk with small...halfling sized bows, stepped out and were nocking again..Behing the  roses a Lion-like Catfolk, his armornot covering  much, save his  chest and head, He  waved a  long sword  and snarled out orders..4 Panthers  and 3 Tigers charged the wagons, shortswords  and a dagger  as they all roared...

Kree watched  as the lead  horses went down, he calmy waited  for the  catfolk to close  with in mere feet of the wagons, as he said,Fire..two volly's  while our Melle  folk charge..then one  more ,a nd the rest of  as attack...

So saying < he launched his  first shaft at one of the Lynx close to the  fork.

In reply to donsr (msg #77):

Durzak shoots at a different Lynx then Kree is shoot at with his light crossbow. Shooting all 3 bolts at the same Lynx, after the last bolt is shot he is going to pick up his warhammer +1 in one hand while the other hand has his shield in it. He has his battle axe slung across his back and a plain warhammer on his hip. Then he is going to start crossing the distance to the catfolks.

Attack roll 19/14/7
Damage roll 4/2/4

Re: The Cat Hunt

While Rolf is no stranger to the bow, his hatred for the catfolk is great and not to be answered in a feathered shaft sent from concealment.  No, he would charge forward with his naked blade in hand and bring death to the catfolk.

Re: The Cat Hunt

The  sudden fire  from the  treeline is not  seen until two Lynx closest to the trees  fall..arrows  and  darts embedded in thier  bodies...a crossbow bolt  misses  one of the lynx that fell...but finishes its  flight in the thigh of a PAnther, who howls  with pain and anger as it looks over the  wagons to see where the  bolt  came from...

One of the Lynx turns and points its  bow at the charging figure s of  Rolf Durzak,Duran, and Justin..just as  two more  arrows  hiss over thier  heads, both striking  another Panther  who falls on the  Ground writhing.

The lead  wagon's guard  shoots his crossbow  , but misses, followed by the second  wagon's guard, who sticks his bolt into the wounded  pather and it falls to the Ground.

The Lion  shouts  order  and the Tigers and pathers  turn to face the new threat, not worried that the wagons  are going anywhere with dead lead horses. One Pather closest to the rear of the last wagon is still going for the  wagon...The  3 remaining Lynx turn their  bows on the charging heroes...

Re: The Cat Hunt

Rolf focuses on covering ground more so than trying to dodge enemy fire and so far, it seems to be paying off well for the ranger.

Catching Justin's signal, Rolf waves for the priest to fall in behind him.  He was glad for the support, but he didn't want any friendlies getting in the way of his blade when he drew close enough to put it to use.

Re: The Cat Hunt

The Cat folk, are not noted  for thier Military precison, the  Lynx fire arrows at the charging Arrows...only one hits  Justin, but  it is turned  by his armor.

The  Rider who was  at rear Guard, turns the Horse to move  out towards the Tigers  and Panters  who are turning to the  Charging men...One Panther  is  ready to sneak into the back of the 2nd  wagon.

The Lion takes a look at the Horseman, but  turns back towards the charging men..The tigers  are set to meet them.

.....................................

Duran and Durzak close on the Lynx and the tigers..thier weapons ready...

another flight of  arrows hiss over thier  Head, The Closest Lynx Falls  with a arrow of Ivy's markings on... The  First Tiger  is hit By Kree's black arrow ..in the shoulder..in drops back a step... Ivy and Kree step our of the trees, nocking one more arrow...

The  Crossbow men  almosy have thier  crossbows loaded.

Re: The Cat Hunt

As the catfolks turn to the charging men, there is a reaction on the last wagon ; although well hidden, someone is there, ready to strike.

When the Panther risks an eye inside the wagon, a flurry of knives fly from the wagon aimed at the feline's chest.

Whoever is responsible for this seems to have angered the gods of good fortune, as the three blades are lost way over the attacker's silhouette...

A feminine voice is heard : "Damn !"

Re: The Cat Hunt

Paralleling Rolf, Justin manoeuvres his long sword so its point forward whilst being slightly lowered. A ploy aimed at lulling any target into thinking he is either injured, or unskilled with the weapon whereas it actually assists the execution of an circling downward stroke achieved by using the swords weight to assist with a vertical swing past his leg and over his head.

Re: The Cat Hunt

Drasius growls as she gallops toward her targets, holding her long bow out at her side and notches the shaft to it string. She quickly pulls back and releases the long arrow at the Lion that had turned tail after the group before re notching another two Arrows at once, pulling back and releasing them at the lynx and panthers.
