Luthien stood guard outside the door. Maybe it was being around the princess, but he felt stronger now...as if he's grown closer to his goddess and her ways.

Re: River

Res, without neutralising the control of her wind spellponding quickly to Kree's instruction Myranda rose from the barrel she was perched on. Adjusting her position slightly to get a view of the skip. Taking care not to neutralise her control of her wind spell, she made a slight gesture; three shafts of light flew from her finger straight into the closest eye of the large serpent, that threatened the Crimson Arrow in the skip.

In reply to Kree Quickshadow (msg # 73):

Lucy had been standing by the rail, watching the shoreline go by, half lost in thought and half paying attention.

Lucy nodded to Kree when he issued the order to go below and guard the ladies.
She was about to reply, when something broke the surface of the water.  A Serpent.

She drew her own bow, and fired from where she had been standing by the rail.  She took careful aim at the damned thing, letting loose two arrows.

In reply to Kree Quickshadow (msg # 73):

Diana had been midship outside, watching the shoreline stream by.  While she was no big fan of travel by water, it was nice to be able to relax and not worry about bandits or being pursued by a rogue patrol.

Then the serpent broke the water.  She remembered why she wasn't a fan of river travel.

She drew her bow, and took careful aim, letting loose two arrows at the body of the serpent.  She drew two more arrows preparing to fire again.

Re: River

Arrows  Flew into the  Beast. It was  as thick as the Skiff the Dwarf  was   struggling to keep afloat.

Meanwhile arrows kept hitting the Dwarf's sails, and the side of the ship. A Dozen orcs could be seen, getting braver , moving out to the water. Two or Them Where throwing  Chunks of  Bear into the  water, right at the Dwarf's boat.

Smaller Serpents  roiled in the water, the Dwarf was close to Panic.

The larger Serpent  rose out of the water a Bit, a smaller serpent in its mouth..a painful roar sounded as  arrow after arrow  Plunged into the Creature...

The Dwarf suddenly sprouted a pair of shafts in his Back,  falling into the river, and the serpents splashed about even More.

The Ships  Caorain remained  Calm, and ordered the ship away from the Skiff to the deeper water.

Kree grew even more anger, and Pointed to the Shore...Fire at the scavangers!... try to kill some!  he moved to the siderail, the ship was shifting....

Moving to the Sterncastle to get a better view of the situation, while ensuring she's careful to be able to continue controlling the wind in the sails, Myranda takes a few shots any orc's that are firing at them.

Kr'wyn, the new one on deck, fires at some orcs. His arrows become flaming arrows during their flight to the intended targets. He is focused on the critters he is aiming at, not realising who else is firing and at which targets.

The Ship  turns away slowly, the shafts   arc out In  vengeance  as Orcs Fall, a few Orcs were not hit at all, But   took off into the small trees that boarders the  bank.   the orcs that ran could be seen  in the high grass..running away... heading into the deep water  was the wounded serpent  tried to escape,  its body bristling with arrow.

Smaller serpents were finishing of the  hapless dwarf.  Kree Looked to the archers,..Send fire arrows into that Skiff...i do not want the  Orcs to keep a free boat out of it

Ivy and  the ships archers   dip arrows  into some pitch on of the ship's boys light the  arrows  from a lantern  and the arrows arch  out over the water, 8 are fired, 5 hit..By the time the Ship reaches the Mouth of the river, the Skiff is a Blaze.

I am amazed anyone travels this river with stuff like this seemingly so common lurking around, Lafisual comments distantly to no one in particular.  Upon hearing Kree's warning to the Captain he maintains his vigilance looking out for anything that needs some holes put in it, slavers or not.

Re: River

Ivy   smiles his half smile at Lafisual,..The Serpents  are as much a part of these lands   us us.  In iron Mound itself, fisher man fish the  river in hopes  of  catching   'big' one. It is not  uncommon. for a boar to catch a 6 or 8  foot creature and have  another  boat help them land it.... words will travel through the city. Major Domos, Head Cooks,  and even nobles themselves will come right down to the shore to bid on them. a 6 foot serpent, could   be the wages of  a 'long boat fisherman', for  3 or 4 months!...smaller one s bring coin as well..  he shrugs,..they say?  the  bigger they are, the better they taste...

Those Massive Gates at Ironmound,  go  as deep as they can, they keep up the very large ones, but smaller ones  can  slip trough.

The Captain   was walking over   and he adds,...there travel in schools, until they get big enough to   stake out thier own territory...between   killing each other,  and being   hunted  by any humanoid  with a mouth?  they  tend  to keep away..but  blood?... Blood   calls them all in....

Pointing  up the river to the  Ferry,..at ferry?....  Bowshot  ferry..any Ferry, is safe enough, unless there is blood in the water....then yo best get across... people swimm and bath in the  rivers? But its a risky thing, there are more then Serpents that will eat you.

Seeing the Orcs and Serpents killed and fleeing Myranda gives her kinsfolk a smile at their archery skill. Moving to the side of the ship she gives a silent prayer to the Sisters of Fate for the fallen Crimson Arrow then moves back towards the barrel to resume directing the wall Good shooting there Cousins she comments in passing to Diana, Ivy, Lafisual, Lucy, Kree and Krwyn.

Lafisual contemplates Ivy and the Captain's words for a moment.  Too bad we can't harvest that one then, he says pointing to the big one.  Sounds like it might either pay for a few dinners or supply them.  Smirking he adds, Assuming we're not dinner first.

He smiles in acknowledgement at Miranda's passing comments and adds, You do us credit as well cousin.

There is the  impish grin on Ivy's  face,..Me?.... I do not expect trouble... but  we know  who does, aye?

Kree doesn't  even look  back as  he   studies the water from the railings.....and that,  Cousin, is why  we are still alive....

With a shrug he   gives Krwyn a pat on the shoulder,..going  full sail  and  no attacks?... we may  reach Bow shot Sundown tomorrow.....

straightening , Kree begins to walk to the bow,.... None should  have known we had the LAdy..... The   hand maiden traitor   tipped off some, and that is a fact. But they did not waste much time   tracking us  down the   River banks... as  of this moment...any ship that comes  near us, should be treated as an enemy.

Stopping for a Moment , turning to look at the Arrows on deck..This is not over, Until we  are standing in the palace, with the lady in tow.
