When I wake up, I get the pleasure of wading through a few messages.  It is just after 6am and I am already busy. LOL  Retirement is taxing.

I retired in 2013 at 56.  Living in Brisbane, but took a trip around the world in the past year, 75 days, returning just before the world went nuts... well, the current nuts. There are lots of things to experience, but dog sledding in Finland, helicopter ride in the Grand Canyon, those are things to have on your bucket list.

::chuckles::  After  my wife passed   with her  second bout of cancer..i was  ready to retire  at 55.. and  found out i couldn't get  my supplement if i did.... then? I got attacked  by 2  Pit  bulls  when  the bastards  changed up my route, 7 months before  retirement (  i will run over any Pit bull i see on the road!)

anyway..i had it, Postoffice  didn't give a damn..even tries to write ne up for  'going on the porch , knowing there were dogs in the house???"

i have   some big wheels on my side who respected me, and knew what i went through the last 10 years of my career.. and i was going  quict on newyears...but..the supplement thing again..so i had to suffer until may of the next year`

I am not destitute   , but i won['t be seeing anything on my 'bucket list' unless i het the lottery!..so..my players  are stuck we me.

nice.
I was injured ithe job Dec of 2017, just had surgery for it this LAST January- 2020. they are not too sure if they rally fixed anything other than prolonging the actual need for a total knee replacement. As it stands I had to leave my employment due to DRs saying I would never return to that type of job (Wind Turbine Technician here), left the job OCT 2019. I am getting ready to start my fourth session of physical Therapy in a couple of weeks. Anyway..... I closed out my 401k last year, (year i turned 55), so no penalty- paid off our debt and in the same time frame inherited a house that is paid off and we love, sold our house, have a little cash in the bank, and have a disability check from the VA every month. so basically, small income every month and no bills, no mortgage. read as ---retired.
I too am up before 6 am and busy . lol
I would like to travel back to Scotland, went in 2014, went to Tokyo in 2018, would love to go back, working on getting to Iceland so far as am trying to learn the language. you know???? retired.

I was a government employee, but had socked away a bit in stocks and planned for the last 14 years of my work.  My wife has some stock in her company and when they got bought out, some of the buyout came in stock and most in cash.  We used that cash to travel.  Even sat in business class.  What a difference.

I used to get a supplement, but that stopped at 62.  I will file SS at 65, so 2 years more of living on edge.  But, can't travel right now anyway.  My stock (government TSP) was intended to last 20 years and is still on track, even after losing a bit early this year.  It doesn't hurt that the Aussie dollar costs less than cents right now.

Quite a company of retired mercs!
I worked for the Dutch Board for the Hospitality Industry, a semi-governmental organisation, which was closed 31 december 2014 because of rightwing political pressure. Because of the reason for closure all personel with a lot of experience (I worked 31 years for the Board) got a very good offer you can't refuse. in my case: 38 months full salary + the obligation to look for a new job (which you can forget in the Netherlands when you're 55+) and thereafter 70% of my last salary till my retirement (in about 2,5 year), but no more obligation to look for a new job. It was (and is) a golden offer.

a girl  that had no kids  and no family( her  family was the abrs she  drank at).. she has  more  retiremenbt then some of the supervisors.. i can't complain.. 4 kids  and  my wife hit  twice in 10 years with cancer?..i need more  'real money' at home..so?.. we didn't  sudffer much then.. and i only  have to wince  now and then.

very neat Krwyn..towards the end? i was hoping for an early out  to  get me out of there with out losing anyhting?..they had them..for clerks and supervisors..but  us  ground troops   had to keep walking.

I will mention to those who came her  looking  for a 2e  game..i saw he is sorta doing what i started here.. he had lists of  2e 3.0 ect ect..so you might be able to  use your own  fav system? I dunno?

I am sort Jaded, a game had to have    rules and  a frame  work, but.. allow your charcter  to grow  with out  worrying about  " I need to kill that Hill Giant so i can get those  XPs! "

And?  If i can find  a Game   Like my Space game.. i'd  join it in a minute..but it take   GM time and players..without either..well...

I honestly really like your system...if I ever run a game (which probably wouldn't happen because I hate GMing haha!), I'd love to use it.

there are some players who left the game that  used  a sysetm like it..adding thier own tweaks...set up threads like i did  for areas of the ship ect ect..

one game died, because..i think the DM did?..he left my game because of a stroke.. then started  his (::chuckles:: his was called, Beyond Infinity..Shadow  is an Aussie there) anyway..its been dead , closing in on 2 years  now.

anothe r guy  tries to run some   Survival type games.. but there was no GM input.. I like free form and all..but  free form with out   GM frame work?  that's god moding!

he keeps  changing up his  games and leaving dead  games in his wake.

bottom line?   you need players who buy into the story and the game.i've been damn lucky there.... that's the reason is switched here...  D&D was great..gave me  a start in gaming..but now? it stole thignsfrom other games that were better ( In the Labyrinth, by Steve JAckson..great, simple system, in the advance form..and? its tactical too, with use of a hexboard)

I love D&D...don't get me wrong and I still play a lot of it...but I really like your system, especially in regards to a freeform based game. It is simple while still allowing customization.

I play many games,  every day.  I don't want to spend the time  to learn another system.  Yours requires less system and more imagination. That allows for faster play and less mechanics by the player.
