Re: Trader's Rest

After some time of vigilance along the trail of the newcomer, Krwyn came back into the camp. Hearing the new woman, he thought she called herself soemthing like Air Ane, he would have to ask her for the proper spelling of her name, recall that she saw the glow of the campfire, he leaves the camp once more. He walks around to be sure there is no light spilling to give their campsite away. Satisfied he enters again, nowto look for his sleeping spot again.

Seeing Krwyn make his way back to the camp. Lysander motions to Farora to go back into the camp and follows her.  He takes a place near the entrance as a resting place.

Re: Trader's Rest

Alyna likewise returned, in the wake of Krwyn, glad that the potential confrontation could now be labeled as only that.    Unstringing her bow, she was just in time to hear the newcomer's tale.

She had some practice in discerning half-truths, and outright lies, and reckoned the new one's words for neither of those.

Once there was an opening, she approached Aeraynne, and said "My name's Alyna. Just joined up today, myself.  Hope you enjoy the stew; it's my auntie's recipe. Mostly."

Re: Trader's Rest

With a spoonful of goodness still in her mouth, Aeraynne managed a tight smile, leaning forward to shake Alyna's hand. Though Alyna looked human at first, the delicate chin and cheeks drew Araynne's eyes to her ears to confirm that the cloaked woman shared some ancestry with elves.

"Mh! Thank you." Aeraynne swallowed quickly so as not to be rude. "It's wonderful. I'm Aeraynne, and I'm at your service. I appreciate all the hospitality, but I have not joined. I am but seeking refuge from those who murdered my comrades. I feel I should mourn more, but I had just met them and they made no effort to befriend me. Still, they did not deserve that fate."

Re: Trader's Rest

"Aye, of course; I was hasty in presuming 'joined up.'  You can discuss that with the captain, if and when it suits you."       Alyna paused briefly.

In her own assessment, Aeraynne didn't look like a commoner. Not at all. And the name only seemed to support it.   She had the refined sort of beauty that would've been in place on a lordling's daughter.  Of course, it was true of Elandra too, and not counting the elves, who tended toward that, as often as not.

It would be rude to probe about background, so early, and thus she didn't.   But said, regarding the lost comrades:

"That's a pity.  Sorry to hear 'bout that.   I think someone said that it might be Ironwooders?   Entirely possible it was random malice, if so.   Or, was there reason to believe it was something more than that?"

As Krwyn listens in on the conversation between the two newest companions, he asks from out of his sleeping spot: "Was the caravan you were scouting for a large and good guarded one? and was there a reason it was guarded with even a scouting party? Could be they are all in trouble now."

Alyna had thus far proven to be quite good at asking questions when Aeraynne's mouth was full. She held up a finger to signal a pause so she didn't choke. She would have just stopped eating for the moment but her hunger was unusually ravenous.

"Not that I know of. We were scouting in advance of a merchant caravan. It's possible the killers intended to attack and wanted to maintain the element of surprise. Which, if true, they would have succeeded in by now. I don't know if that caravan was carrying anything special. To me, it looked like the usual wares." She hastened another spoonful in anticipation of another questions.

"So please, tell me of this troop. What is it's purpose and mission, if you are free to speak of it?"

Alyna felt a little bad about disrupting her meal, however, had her troop's attackers had any strong reason to pursue her, that was something that must be known now, and not after supper.

Alyna was reasonably satisfied it wasn't so, and nodded at the reply.  She left Krwyn, or one of the others, to answer the latter question, not feeling it was her place, new as she was.   And made her way back to her bedroll, where she began briefly looking through her pack.

Kree   Leanded   back , Putting his cloak over his  knees to facre the fire to dry it  faster.

As   it was Noted, We  are the Crimson Arrows, well...one  unit of them. I am  blessed by the Sisters to lead this group..

a Throat was  Cleared , Ivy with Tyri  and secured the   Northern  entrance ,My Cousin  Ivyian, you have  met, as well as  my other  Cousin, Miranda.. I shall let others  introduce them selves   as they wish.

As  i told  Alyana, we  are on a  mission for the crown.. to  see  what the HArgenites  are  up to in the Pass above Yad... there  are many rumors of them  building something   closer to thier side of the  River  gourge, then to our side.. we must determine  what, If they  could control that pass? they would have a  uncontested  way into the  Realms, Yad  would be the furst to fall, but it would not be the Last

we eliminated  a  group for  'bandits"  earlier  today...  we ambushed them as they thought to ambush those  who 'walked bait'... some  Ironwood  elves  and   humans we take for hargenites.

Kree    moves the cloak round  to dry  wet areas,we also take time for  dport, by killing    Slavers, Bandits, Catfolk and   Sand folk  and  any other  enemy of ours   we may come across.

Re: Trader's Rest

Moltke awoke from his slight trance in slight confusions for there were more voices outside than there were before. He exits from the safety of the Sanctuary and finds a newcomer sitting near the fire talking with the captain. Instinctively, he began to reach in his mind for a spell but relaxed once his more refined thoughts dictated his action. Before walking over to introduce himself, he cursed himself gently for allowing such excitement to unfold during his watch.
Hello newcomer, I see that you are getting acquainted with the Arrowhead. I am Moltke. he nods in acknowledgment under his gray cloak.

Re: Trader's Rest

Aeraynne took in what Kree said with a series of nods as she finished her stew. The captain of the Crimson Arrows explained who they were, but he ended with no further questions for her. She understood enough, but she had no reason to press for more information. They were on a mission and she was a guest of their kindness.

"I want to thank you, Kree, for your protection and hospitality. If I can be of service, I would most certainly like to repay your kindness. I am a trained scout. I know it doesn't seem like it with me getting ambushed, but I assure you I am quite good at what I do."

As they spoke, another member of their party appeared to introduce himself.

"Hello, Moltke," Aeraynne paused to regard him. "I am Aeraynne Torryn, it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance."

"This truly a large contingent. Whatever your mission, it must be important and dangerous."

Lysander knew it was important for Kree to ensure the newcomers knew what they were in for, but he wanted a bit of quiet, as he would be up really early to check the area.  He would introduce himself later, when everyone was up and alert.

If you want to earn Coin, you  might consider  Joining....if you do not join, we cannot take you with us...  If you take  'the Arrow'  you will be entered on our charter. either way, you have   safe and somewhat warm lodging this night.

Ivy  is  leaning against  the  wall near  the  entrance he secure   His  clock  on the ide  facing that  tarp. we are not the kindly heroes  one hears  tell in the   inns  and  taverns, we are a vicious   and savage   to those of the dark, as those of the dark  are to those of the light...

Likewise. If you'll excuse me, it is time for my watch to begin.
Moltke, having greeted the newcomer, now takes his turn for the night's watch. He wanders a few paces from the camp, reminding himself of his earlier negligence. He focuses his eyes and ears with renewed vigilance.

Elanda had already done her full evening prayers but she wanted to add more because she had used divine magic in between. She returned to the group and smiled.

She looked at Aeraynne and said," Not all of us are vicious killers, as the Captain said we all have holes to fill. We help restore the Peace of the land and others, and we punish those who have taken and stolen others Peace. Amot watches over us, she has a plan for this group, I might not agree with ALL of the Captain's methods but I will not stand in his way either and he respects that."

Riven looked to the newcomers. "Riven." There would have been a slight smile upon her lips...had her mask been down but it wasn't and she wasn't going to fix that either. Instead, with a slight nod of her head, Riven went back to her position, fingers lightly playing with the black Arrows pin that she wore.

"That's...a good way to put it..." Tyri murmured softly, still curious on her own role to play. Most of the time, it seemed to her like she was just in the way...or there to be a distraction for Ivyain...but then again, she had helped out in battle and would fiercely protect any here...much like she would have with her troupe. And like Elandra, she might not always agree with everything that Kree did, she wouldn't abandon the bigger goal. The conflicting emotion was exhausting to say the least and with a sigh, she moved to where Ivy was, leaning against him slightly.

Re: Trader's Rest

Aeraynne considered the offer from Kree, as well as the declarations from both Elandra and Ivy. She understood in principle. The Crimson Arrows enforced the peace by waging war on the wicked. War is a pitch black thing that consumes the light of humanity in all that it touches. Volunteering for such risks more than bodily injury. But few have the luxury of choosing war. For most, it is thrust upon them, just as it was upon Aeraynne scarcely an hour before. Her options were few. Choose to embrace it full, and help others if she is able, or continues to dance around its edges and hope it doesn't strike her in the back. She had already done the latter and narrowly escaped death.

"Thank you Ivy, Thank you Elandra. Your counsel is appreciated."

"I will join you, Kree." She said simply. "I have no other commitments and I have skills and abilities that could be of use. I would speak to you of them in private and you may share as you see fit."

Aeraynne picked up the bag and duped the contents on the ground in front of her. She spread them out to look at the options, finally choosing a beautiful  pin to wear on her cloak. She pinned it on immediately, holding out the fabric to get an idea how it looked. After she was satisfied, she carefully placed the other choices back in the bag and handed it back to Kree.

"Thank you, Kree." She stood up to hand the bag back to him. "I'll wear it with pride. Would you like to have that conversation now?"

Following Kree's lead, Aeraynne pulled her hood up over her head. "As I already said, I am a trained scout. But while I have ability to long range reconnaissance, I am best suited as an infiltrator. I have a special ability passed to me from my grandmother to my mother to me. I can alter my physical form to appear as someone else. To imitate a specific person takes time and skill, but if I do not have to take on any particular appearance, I easily be an anonymous maid, or guard. or whatever else. The more radical the change, the longer it takes to change. I do ave limits however. I can only assume humanoid characteristics, and my appearance is purely cosmetic. I cannot get stronger or heavier. Still, if I had to disappear, in a crowd, or infiltrate as someone none would question, I can get very close to a target, steal an object, or listen to a conversation."
