Story Title: | The Tale of a Long Journey | |
---|---|---|
Main Character: | Luque da Catunya, a minor lord and swordsman | |
Setting: | Gritty Low fantasy | |
Concept: | After the City of Calerro succumbed to the forces from Vareno, the nobles were put to the sword. Few managed to escape the slaughter, fewer still the mopping up patrols who scoured the surrounding lands. The whole peninsula had been descending into chaos over the last few seasons as armed troops marched across it. Citadels fell and fell again. Temples were forced to give up their gold and silver, and no one could tell the difference between city troops, mercenaries and bandits anymore. No one was safe from the depradations of war and chaos. Unrest ruled, not the laws of men or gods and the fall of Calerro was just the latest in a series of unspeakable acts of war. Luque and his companion survived the Rape of Calerro, and together they must decide how to make the trip to safety. | |
Partner: | I'm looking for a partner willing to play the part of Luque's companion. She is intelligent, educated, possibly a healer (think Rebecca of York), scribe or a minor magician of some sort, but not a fighter. Probably in her late 20s or early 30s. A calm and thoughtful character. Quietly funny doesn't hurt. | |
Other Relevant Info: | The setting is a peninsula of small nations and city states, descending into chaos. It is gritty low fantasy, very little magic and very lightly inspired by Italy in the 12th or 13th century and the Iberian Peninsula during the Reconquista. Other sources of inspiration include Guy Gavriel Kay's The Lions of al-Rassan and Barbara Hambly's series about Sun Wolf and Starhawk. But this would be its own thing. The story is less about the turmoil and wars, that forms the background, but about the relationship and development of the two protagonists as they try to travel and stay alive. I assume a friendship will develop, perhaps even a romance as they get to know each other and discuss everything from what to do next, to the nature of the gods. We'll liven up the philosophy discussions a bit with the occasional murderous gang of cutthroats. | |
Status: | I'm not sure if it's even possible to tell a story like this, but I think it could be a very fun experiment. Status: Looking for a partner |
Story Title: | The Tale of Just Another Day In Paradise | |
---|---|---|
Main Character: | Thomas Elliot – Senior Vice President for Client Relations, Mount Olympus | |
Setting: | Mount Olympus is the most recent addition to the Las Vegas strip, but it is unparalleled in the extravagance of its trappings and its clientele. | |
Concept: | Thomas is the key troubleshooter for the world-famous hotel-casino, responsible for managing the needs, desires, and indiscretions of its elite customers: Hollywood icons, foreign royalty, titans of industry, and many more. To the public, Thomas and his team of professionals are the ones who arrange for the fulfillment of the heart’s desire. Behind the iron walls of secrecy demanded by Mount Olympus, they are also the ones who gather intelligence on their customers and make the bodies disappear. | |
Partner: | A female writing partner to play a staffer on the Client Relations team with Thomas. We would take turns inventing Episodes of issues for the other to star in, running NPC’s and the like. The Episodes can be as dramatic, comedic, or even supernatural as the writing partners want to create. | |
Other Relevant Info: | Desired frequency of posting is an average of 3x/week. | |

Story Title: | The Tale of the Whispering Dunes | |
---|---|---|
Main Character: | Hafiz | |
Setting: | As colonialism begins to rear its uglier side and foreign treasure hunters the world over begin to plunder ancient treasures, a grizzled and elite warrior tasked with protecting those treasures makes the decision to move one of the Arabian Peninsula's most prized antiquities to a safer location. | |
Concept: | The antiquity? The original inspiration for the frenchman's tale of Aladdin; a fabled Jinn eternally locked in a lamp. Hafiz unknowingly releases her; and unfortunately for him, she doesn't want to return anytime soon. All he wants is to move the treasure to a safer location, not find himself at the whimsy of a milennia-old woman who's been bored for centuries... | |
Partner: | Mostly looking for a humorous tale of a powerful jinn woman dragging the serious and focused Hafiz around mostly against his will. Send me a PM and we'll talk about it. :P | |

Story Title: | Tale of These Mortal Coils | |
---|---|---|
Main Character: | Dakarai, an Immortal imprisoned on Earth with the power to see and manipulate a being's Essence. | |
Setting: | Modern Fantasy. Ridgefield, Connecticut | |
Concept: | The Immortals are using Earth as a penal colony. When an Immortal breaks one of the divine mandates they are imprisoned in a mortal form to live, die and reincarnate until their sentence is served. Normally an Immortal has no powers while in their mortal form, does not remember that they are an Immortal and cannot take on their true form, but something has happened. Dakarai awakens while on Earth. The Immortals have already set up safeguards for just such an occurrence though. They have Immortals called The Keepers of the Mortal Realm deployed on Earth as jailers, basically. If a Keeper sees an Awakened Immortal they become aware of their true self and can act as they see fit to keep the "inmates" in line or catch them for reassignment. You are one of the Keepers and you're Awakened when you see Dakarai and are now trying to figure out what went wrong and get Dakarai back under control, especially since bodies start cropping up without souls. Isn't that something Dakarai could do? | |
Partner: | I'm looking for a partner to play the Keeper who's in pursuit of Dakarai. I would prefer a female writer as eventually they will have to work together to figure out what's going on and there would be the possibility of romance. | |
Other Relevant Info: | This will be kind of a mystery as the system has worked for quite some time without any issues and now Dakarai and the Keeper must figure out what's going on. | |

Story Title: | The Tale of Dark Hearts, and Good Intentions | |
---|---|---|
Main Character: | Andie Summers - A snarky, rebellious young woman who discovers she is a witch, and one of the very few gifted in Expression. Setting: The Big Easy (and surrounding areas) | |
Setting: | Andie Summers could not have predicted that finding her birth-mother and inheriting a very old portrait would flip her whole world upside down, and drag her into a feud that started nearly eighty years ago. Andie isn't as normal as she once assumed, touching that weird painting unlocked a old secret, breaking a spell that had kept a powerful witch, and supernatural hunter locked away all this time. The unbinding had a nice little side effect neither wanted or expected. Andie's magic linked them together, using parts of the original energy to keep her mysterious stranger bound in one way or another. Now they are stuck together, dealing with the betrayal from his past, and all the dangers that the future presents, to them both. In New Orleans, unseen by the locals and tourists, is a world apart, yet not. A coven of witches controls The Big Easy with an iron fist. Talking about keeping things in order for the good of all witches and other supernaturals, and to protect the precious mortals that wander through life blissfully ignorant of the true horrors. Witches who use 'Expression' or 'Wild Magic' are considered dangerous, unpredictable villains and must be dealt with for the greater good (In secret, the Big Three have been waging a war on any family to show signs of this magic, wiping them out). Normal witches must follow strict rules, and answer to The Big Three's every summons or face dire consequences. But it isn't just other witches they aim to control or eliminate. Oh no, their power and hold on New Orleans, the supernatural hotspot. Has made them bold, ambitious and they seek to ensure that everything that goes bump in the night knows just how badass they can be. All in the name of keeping themselves, and their fellow witches protected of course. Andie is a young woman with a lot of natural talent in using Expression, a rare and apparently taboo kind of magic that relies on the person's willpower, the natural magic running in her veins rather than on talismans or rituals. Her portrait man is another user of Expression, and used to be one of the top dogs in the Hunter world, he also has weird ties to these Big Three, something Andie suspects ended pretty badly all those years ago. What Andie doesn't know, is that he isn't the only one with personal ties to the New Orlean's Coven, and those events eighty years ago. Together they will deal with it all, make allies and enemies, find love in all this chaos and either bring down the Coven for good, or end up in identical shallow graves. | |
Concept: | The Witch/Hunter who helped bring the coven into power eighty years ago, and who was betrayed by them. He'd still look young (early-mid twenties) His name, personal history etc are up to the person who wants to take him on. ( I would greatly appreciate it if the person could find a 'picture' of him. I love visuals.) | |
Partner: | I want a story that has romance and love between the two main characters, but it doesn't have to be insta-mance, in fact I think it would be fun if the main two had sparks flying between them, if they challenged each other. I see this story having plenty of darker elements with a healthy dose of humor, drama/tragedy and action all packed into it. Also, I would enjoy having a partner who is willing to brainstorm with me all through the story, contribute ideas, and take charge in writing the story itself. Don't always let me do all the leading. I have some ideas for the plot and various other elements, but I want my partner to help make this tale their own as well. | |
Other Relevant Info: | I need someone willing to handle someone who has RL obligations, and therefore has a semi-chaotic posting schedule. I can get in at least 2-3 posts a week on average, sometimes more, sometimes less. Long absences, I will of course make sure my partner knows. | |

Story Title: | The Tale of London's Dragons | |
---|---|---|
Main Character: | Coralie Spencer, 'the Bloodhound,' a high society lady with the ability to sense, track and hunt down anything. | |
Setting: | A (more-than-somewhat) fictionalized version of Victorian England, with influences from Black Butler and Neverwhere, among others. Imagine, if you will, Victorian London as the framework, with supernatural entities and underground hidden societies rife and rampant underneath. | |
Concept: | A somewhat serialized story of various supernatural tales, a blend of these two partners' hunts, their personal travails in their private lives and society, a romantic subplot hamstrung by prickly personalities, and slowly, the overarching shadow of a very deadly plot that even these two will find themselves at the end of their wits to defeat. | |
Partner: | Simon deWinter, 'the Poisonous Prince' - a nobleman with unparalleled mastery of poisons and drugs. | |
Other Relevant Info: | I post once or twice a day on average. I intend to adopt a long, lush prose here so it might be slightly slower as I work on making sure posts are right. | |

Story Title: | The Tale of The Burning Moon | |
---|---|---|
Main Character: | Alexandros Eli | |
Setting: | Setting Info | |
Concept: | Lycanthrope and Mage learn to work together and fall in love (awww...) Longer version: When the world was young, magic flowed freely as the First Peoples shepherded the younger race of humans in its use. But as the eons passed, those First Peoples interests slowly moved to things beyond even human understanding, exploring other versions of reality and even creating new worlds as they wished. Legends of them still survive outside the true history, where we call them "Fae" and "Angels" and "Demons". Even those designations are somewhat specious, like trying to simplify rocketry down to the level of archery. But the impact of their changing interests allowed mankind to begin probing magic in ways that the First People had prevented. Some sought to lengthen their lives. Others sought balance, keeping with the First People's traditions. Still others desired sheer power. By the end of that age, clear lines were forming in the First People's absence. In the next, full war would be declared. When that dust finally settled, a new order had arisen, but scars still remained. Reality was weakened, its fabric torn in places, letting other realms flow into it. Those who sought balance were tasked with repairing and protecting this realm. The other two factions were defeated and forced into the shadows, biding their time until they could attempt to overthrow this new order. But even those victorious eventually fought between themselves. Some immersed themselves in the flow of magic, becoming what we call lycanthropes today. Others were studious, learning the various paths of magic, what we call mages today. Those other beasts of the night - vampires, demons (although not truly demons) and other nightmares - are the remnants of those who lost this terrible war. Yet there is something rising. Late at night, when the barriers are thinest, in the quiet you can almost hear something, just barely. The greatest of their kinds seek to learn what it is, but many fear that it might be even more than what those who guard the world can handle. | |
Partner: | Imaginative female partner with the ability to think of fairly creative ways to use magic that is outside the stereotypical "I throw a fireball". Magic in this setting is usually discrete; overt displays of power like a fireball would draw far, far more attention than anyone wants. I imagine the female character to be erudite, probably a lawyer or something else that has a lot of book smarts, but still street smarts. After all, she's adept at living in two different worlds. Alternatively, if my partner wanted to be the lycanthrope, we can discuss that. | |
Other Relevant Info: | I'm borrowing heavily from the World of Darkness settings, primarily werewolf and mage. Knowledge of these settings is not required | |
