Call of Cthulhu: Hunting Hour - High RP, Low Rolling Horror
Hunting Hour is looking for 3 investigators willing to face the horrors of Tauric Castle and learn its long-buried secrets!
One hot summer night in 2022, three young women disappeared after several days of unsettling, half-formed dreams; leaving no evidence of abduction behind. The only clue detectives and families could gather was all three had felt watched the week before, though they could never point to any specific threat.
Perhaps an intelligent detective could connect the three girls' cases--but that is a different story. Instead, Hunting Hour tells the stories of the three captives, beginning with their awakening in a dark tower, farther from home than they could possibly imagine, captives of an unrelenting and inexplicable creature...
Hunting Hour is an exploration-themed investigation taking place in a single, elaborate castle and its grounds. The investigators must remain constantly ahead of a seemingly-unstoppable pursuer, using speed, stealth, and ingenuity to avoid (or reverse) his traps while they seek out why they have been taken and how to escape. With careful teamwork, they might return to their normal lives...with even better teamwork, they might become something far greater!
Though originally written as a 7th-Edition adventure, Hunting Hour uses a major variation to the sanity system, allowing for an adrenaline-fueled investigation that takes place over the course of one very long night. Thematically, it has more in common with thriller/slasher movies than traditional CoC, though it is emphatically NOT a Pulp game and ultimately is very much in the mold of a classic CoC investigation.
No previous Call of Cthulhu experience is required; the game is generally low-rolling and low-combat. (No need to worry about gun initiative in Tauric castle!) The heavy emphasis will be on storytelling, puzzle-solving, and investigation.
