Re: May  Minicamp Day 2

Mik saw the Back coming in for Jo and took a sideways step to close off the angle, he set himself and waited for the guy to come close before using his lightning acceleration to deliver a hit the sent the back on the floor. Mik jumped back up and took a look around for any other danger coming close to Jo - he was determined to give her the proper time on this play.

Re: May  Minicamp Day 2

Mik  Hit the Linebacker who Hit  the ground, the  fellow was trying to get up As  the ball hissed Towards Gerhart again...Tibbs  and the outside  Linebacker  charging the  wide  out  as the ball came in helmet high..they all met 11 yards down field, where Gerhart  was knocked out of bounds.

First down at the D's 46....3 plays  left.

Jo ran up to the Line Her hand  whirling over her head to egt the Offense  to Lineup without  an Huddle.

The Defense scrambled to keep up, the backs  settling into thier  spots, the Line men on both sides of the  ball huffing  anf  puffing  as they ran to thier Positions.

Sims   and the extra wideouts and backs  followed the players up the Field and stood well back of the QB.  Lewis  was on the sidelines  with  his clipboard  as he made notes next to player's names, Letting  Payne  and Worth settle the team in.

Jo read Zone, as did the  recievers...Bronk saying  something to La Roi who just just nodded his head rapidly.

At the  snap of the ball, La Roi went to take off deep again, The  Rookie Corner  hit him in the  chest with both hands, the arm shiver  standing him Up  as he looked overly surprised.... Bronk Cut a skinny Post and Hooked up In the  space between Payne   and well Under Clark.

Stalls, seeing that Payne  and  The Outside Linebacker on his side were Dropping,  Ran an out  at about 5

Mik Flowed to the Flat, as there was no pressure...Gerhart had a Choice Between Curling  Behind  Stalls  and floating to the Middle...or Trying to  Push Tibbs  back  and Hook up......

The two giants stood next to each other, watching the warriors battle it out on the field.  Kane knew that if Diesel was half the player he seemed to be, he would be dying to get out there, just like Kane was.  Kane understood the D coach wanting to exert a little authority, but it didn't make sense to keep the two best defensive linemen he had sitting on the sidelines as spectators.

At the man's offer, Kane nodded, his eyes not leaving the field.

"Yeah, yeah, a training partner would be nice.  The only thing that seems to keep me off the field seems to be injuries.  Maybe you can show me a few exercises."

Lewis was saying  something  into his headset, to the coaches who were filming the players. tests or no tests..he wasn't  really happy.

Taking off the headset, he looked at the two big fellows,We got  trainers...Straight  from Japan. After the Scrimmage report to them, if they can't  fix you, better to know  now....

The little  QB  snapped the Ball as  Lewis's  eye returned to the field, watching the drops of the D-backs  and Linebackers. He said over his shoulder to the  two latecomers,..you guys are used to one  style of play...I know, I was used to coaching that  as well...Sims? He coached over there the last 5 years...they do things  differant..team first...and you earn your way...

Lots of sense in that...if  we can't play like that, we will keep weeding until we can...there isn't  any room for ego's here, But  we will make room for heart..."

Re: May  Minicamp Day 2

James clapped Clark lightly on the shoulder as he got up, feeling much better.  One for one, and decent yardage.  Not gonna get benched any time soon.  He nodded but said nothing to Bronk as his pads were slapped.  Little bastard thinks he's captain, may as well let him for now.

He was surprised to see a second pass come to him, leaning for the lines as he was hit to go out of bounds.  Getting up, he offered a tired smile to Alexia, nodding to Jo as he lined back up.  She's really going for the TD, but she's behind on yards.  She's not going for La Roi again, too risky.  Ivan won't get enough yards, and she's not going to me three times in a row.  Either Mik or Adam.

At the hut he took off, ready to move downfield, but Tibbs was quickly on him, and James knew not to let him get between him and the QB.  He's ready for a pick.  Knowing he wasn't far enough downfield, he curled anyways, moving for the emptier field up the middle.

Re: May  Minicamp Day 2

The  BAll  came  HArd  at Adam...the rightside  backer #56 williams..grinned  and turned, then frowned at the speed on the ball..He thought he had her, but the ball came out with authority, Williams forgot  about  the Ball  and tried to send  Bronk into the cheap seats. However, Highlight  hits don't  matter if the target doesn't  care.

Bronk's Hands  were on the ball and Pulled in , to the Inside, The BAcker  whacked him sending him side ways a few yards, before he managed  to get his  feet under him  and turn  Up Field...Seeing Gerhart and Stalls, he ran towards  Stalls, figuring that was his best bet for a Block, Stalls Cut  Payne at the Ankles  and Bronk  Met Tibbs at the 25, Both players  fells  at the 23...Adam grinned  at Tibbs and hopped up  heading towards the Huddle. Sims  was there  as he called them all in to Huddle.

D's 23 2 plays  left

Right...we have  two plays  left..I want you to treat this as if it is before the half....La Roi will run a post, Adam, You out  and Up on his side...Stalls, Stay home  unless Jo tells you to go...Mik...to stay in for a count, the wheel  the same  sideline Adam takes...Gerhart, You'll have to read...you'll be doing alot of this if you make the team...You either get an out...or float the Middle...

Sims  turns to Jo, Frankly..I do not  care who you throw to, as long  as its complete...La Roi  and Adam should have that side  Clear for  Mik...if they flood it with backers, Gerhart's gonna find a Hole..no matter what shakes out? Kats' coming on to Kick the next play.

Jo Nodded  and they went up to the Line, at the  Snap, La Roi took off as if he was going deep, then cut to the Post about 10 yards into his pattern, Adam  Went  down 5 yards, the squared out, Put up his hands  as if to catch  a ball, then Turned  hard up the sideline, ground up tire bits  flying up as his  spikes churned the field turf.

Stalls  stayed home  to  help with the  outside backer on his side, for the Moment...Jo..well..had a moment.

Mik set up as if to  Block, the flowed out to  the Flat that Adam and  La Roi had  Cleared...#56 and Payne  were hustling over, but  would not get there before the ball would....Gerhart Looked up filed, Tibbs  was guarding the sideline, as Worth came over top....but  Gerhart's backer  was picked up on a blits, and Payne was heading towards Mik..he had the choice  of 8 yards either way.

Mik kept his weight on the balls of his feet as he moved down-field. He could see that Payne was coming for him and that he had a choice to make - sidelines or centre... In a split-second he saw where Bronk had gone and followed the path cut through the flats to give hime the space. He saw Payne coming and angled his run to the inside where he could use his pace and agility more - don't need to score but if I can then it's all gravy, he thought as he got ready to kick into top gear when he got the ball.

Defense is hosed.  Seeing the field around him empty of defenders, his first thought was to flare out for a few extra yards, but seeing Mik about as far up as he, James instead went after Payne, looking to pick up that first block once Mik had the ball.

Gritting her teeth she flicked the  pass on a rope to Mik...56 and Payne closing on him as the ball hit his  hands at the 20...Gerhart was coming in from Behind Payne..La Roi stopped in the Endzone to watch, Adam Flattened the rookie  DB......

Mik took this in as he snagged the ball............

Re: May  Minicamp Day 2

Mik felt the ball hit his hands and he made sure of the catch before glancing to see where Payne was - and he was glad to see Gerhart coming in to block the Back and give him an extra yard of space. He took a sidestep to put Gerhart between him and PAyne and then kicked into high gear with the ball protected and his head down.

He was sure that pace for pace there were few in the NFL that could match him over 20-yards, and he didn't think any of the backs on the Dragons would get to him now - he was going for the endzone.

Re: May  Minicamp Day 2

A tall, young Mexican walked in through the gate to the stadium, dressed in jeans, cowboy boots, a white t-shirt, brown leather jacket and a cowboy hat. He watched as the snap was taken and noted the runs the blockers, HB and defense were making before nodding to himself - everyone looks fairly good out there, makings of a good team if it all gells.

Carlos took in the sights, smells and views of the stadium for a moment and grinned - this was where he should be, playing NFL and helping make history. He'd heard all about the work that was going into this team, the two female players, and he'd thought that it was about time the league was shaken up a little.

He was carrying his kitbag round the track towards where the coaches were standing, and he put it down and removed his hat before speaking, "Coach Sims? I'm Carlos Salcido sir, rookie LOLB reporting for camp." Then he waited for the coach to respond. There was no way Carlos would further intrude upon his concentration in the middle of a play, so he turned his head to watch as the ball sailed into Mik's hands and he took off. the QB seemed to throw quick but he thought that there should have been more pressure on her anyway to give the corners a chance at picking off a stray throw - he'd try and see if she had the nerves if he got onto the field today.

Sims took a Quick Glance at Carlos,well..welcome then,,we don't  have  Much scrimmage left..the 2nd  teams  will be going in shortly..

His  eyes  went  back to the Field as Mik Kicked it In, Clark was the Olny fellow who had a chance to reach Him, Payne  was slowled by a chip on his  side from a diving Gerhart...marginally close to a clip, but the Refs didn't  say anything. The Two met  at the one, the clack of  pads louder then one  would think for a normal team's  scrimmage. Mik  landed with a bounce a yard deep in the endzone.

KAT! yelled the coach, get your  people out here for the pat!

Turning to Carlos , he points to a Tall fellow  with a  clipboard  and a headset, that is now in his  hand, waving  it at  the Defense while shouting unflattering words.See that man? He's Coach Lewis, the DC and Linebackers  Coach..make certain to  tell him you were just signed...

Meanwhile, Adam  Helped Mik off the Ground, the Dragons  were roaring again  and  fire shot out thier mouths, making its own noise.

somehwere on the  scoreboard   was a player with a Maple Leaf on his helmet..it  showed the  cartoon player  score and  a bit of "oh Canada" played.

The stadium erupted once again as Mik crossed the white line and scored the second touchdown of the scrimmage.  The cheerleaders had been standing relatively still and motionless for the last couple of plays, watching the action on the field.  Once the touchdown was scored and music erupted from the speakers, Alexia led the girls in a routine touchdown celebration.  The squad on both side of the field twisted and kicked in close rthymn, though Alexia saw some of the rookies struggling to keep up with the freshly memorized moves.  Flames erupted from the end-zone dragons and Alexia could feel the heat even at this distance.  Pom-poms flashing in the sun, the squad ended the cheer, several calling out encouragement to the players on the field, while others cheered specifically for Mik.  Several long and tanned athletic legs kicked into the air as the PAT team ran onto the field.

Adam  walked over to Sims  with the rest of  the wide-outs, backs  and Qbs, Aright  Adam...take a break..Unless Lewis  needs you..you'er  done  for the  day..good job.

Sims watched the Pat team  come  off the sideline,La Roi..You and Herhart stay out..we'll feed in some of the others as well as the  Tightends..Jo? You'll take  the  first plays of the  2nd  team scrimmage...Steele..You'er  done for the day as well...

Bronk frowned  as he pushed  up the 2 bar facemask that had one  bar coming  down the  middle. He wanted to argue, but he knew  better, Mackins  and Simmons   approached him and began to ask him  about  the route tree, Adam began to explain with the use of  both hands  how the routes branched and  when to use  what  for Zone  or man...combination was Adam's favorite..if you caught them in a combination, you could pick your  holes.

The  two grinned as they snapped thier chin straps, ready to take the field

Fillings  began to warm up, he  would take the last 10 plays of  today's  scrimmage. He was none too happy as he was assured he was to be  a "mentor"  and the two rookies , along  with Bronk  would handle whatever Quarterbacking  was to be had...looking at the  smallish wideout  he chuckles," ...The Wild Hamster..." Lewis called the few goal line plays Bronk  might be called on to run...still..it  did  feel good to throw again.

Mik grinned as he was helped up and saluted Jo, James Adam and even La Roi - after all they'd been instrumental in making that play turn into a score. He stayed on the field to take the snap for the PAT for Kat and make sure that nobody got near her this time. He saw some huge folks on the touchline, defense players more than likely and thought that they looked like just what was ordered. He grinned at Ivan who seemed in a good mood but put the thought out of his mind quickly as he just focused on setting the ball when the time came.

Carlos looked at the player who had spoken to him, "Ah yeah I get you partner, thanks. Be bad to get on the coach's bad side before I even get out there. Name is Carlos Salcido, be out in a minute." he grinned and tipped his hat at the guy and went in the indicated direction to get changed into his pads.

He came out dressed in his gear a few minutes later, his nervous energy turned his dressing into a speed-fest. He jogged out to where Coach Lewis was standing and introduced himself, "Coach Lewis sir? My name is Carlos Salcido and I just got in from Texas, actually the Texans just passed their option on me so I was invited to come to camp here. Coach Sims told me to let you know that I been signed to play defense for you sir. Normally play as a blitzing LOLB and just love stopping the outside runs too" he hesitated for a moment "Just glad to be here, eager to burn off some of this energy sir." he said with a slightly embarrassed grin on his face.

His parents had reminded him to not let his mouth wander and try to absorb instructions rather than letting his nerves come out as babbling, he'd already made a bad start on that front he thought. He'd make a more determined effort now though. As he waited for the coach to let him know what he wanted from him, he glanced sideways at the big fellow standing close by that had warned him earlier and the others on the sidelines - they were a match for anything the Texans had, this team had slipped under many radars and were a bit of a joke to most Texas folk but he was sure they'd prove their doubters wrong.

Kane grunted as the speedy running back dove over the goal line.  The defense had been pretty much pushed around out there and here he was observing it on the sideline.  If he was making good money, he could have consoled himself with that fact as he played the part of an observer.  But his contract had been rewritten, as had most of the others, to be very incentive heavy and each moment he stood on the sideline was another opportunity lost to get playing time and make money.  He wasn’t sure what the D coach was ranting about.  He and Diesel had just been discussing training programs and the old man had jumped all over their case, reminding them they needed to play in order to make any money.  As if that fact wasn’t painfully obvious.

Kane shifted his weight slightly from foot to foot, his grasp on his helmet tightening slightly.  Maybe the old man would put him in for the next series.

Carlos nodded and took to the field lining up ready to stop anyone coming through or round his end of the line. As he made his way he spoke to Kane and Diesel, "I'm a run-stopper and I am used to lining up sacks. Press called me 'Crunch' back in Texas when I played for the Longhorns. What's your guys specialities?"

As he talked he eyed the runningbacks and the QB with an interest, searching for strengths and weaknesses already that would dictate his plan of attacks. Of course, if it looked like a passing play then he would just mow down the QB and try to get a fumble. He was a little late to the camp and just hoped that did not harm his chances of getting a starting slot when the NFL season opened.
