The team worked hard through  July. As  always, between Sims  and the Older Amota..it seemed the  Dragons had  three teams...One team coming, one team practicing and another Team coming in.

  Most folks didn't last long, they were looking  for BAllplayers who where tough,but were not headcases...and your contract didn't matter. Agents   hated the Dragons, as each contract was a fistfight..and the players always came out on the short end...the long and short of it , was this..You got paid a flat rate for your position..a bit  more for  where you were drafted...and a bit more for each year you were on the dragons...after that..the contracts were loaded with incentives, taylored  to your position...you wanted more money? you best go out  and  do something..no free rides on the dragons...there was also a'charcter clause'..you did something illegal..you were cut...Contract voided...there were more then a few 'death sentence' clauses in there...which the player had to sign, to get the contract. Some of the worsecase players refused...none are on the team now...

  The Bus arrived  with 7 players in it...Ben, Lucas, and 5 others, some where recent cuts from other  teams, others  were undrafted freeagents that the scouts dug up...

 Practice  was over for the Day. Players were heading to the showers, and the to eat.

  While the players  broke practice, The cheerleaders  did as well, Alexia  seemed distracted  as two men in suits  called her over, she was taking with them...perhaps  a bit extra  flirty..but all three were smiling.  Lu-ti, the Cheerleader that Bet Adam in the DAnce  contest the   other  week, came up to Celeste,..looks  like your getting closer and closer to captain...everyday...

   Adam stood near the  endzone  where the Bus  had left the new players off. Though he was sweated up, he was still running   pattens, from the Goal line  out, to the  20..Fillings the 2nd  team quaterback was dropping  back and snapping off throws.

 A  small boy with a big grin was catching the ball from Adam, then snapping it to Fillings.

 Bronk held up for a momnet Pushing the Helmet back as he watched the New folks enter the GAte..7 Guys  and a Tall woman. Bronk said to Fillings,..that don't look like  any kicker..and she's sure not a cheerleader...

 Fillings looked over his shoulder and grinned,..better hope she's not a wideout..she has a foot on you!

 Bronk pulled his helmet down  and nodded, out and Ups..if yuou have it in you....

 Fillings  shook his  head,..Just run little man..see if you can catch it...

 A assisstant Greeted the new folks  with a clip board and began calling out nameswhen i hit your name...tell me  your position ...then we'll get you in the locker room and issue your stuff... and be becan to call out thier names.

Bethany came off the bus last, dressed in a black tank top and a pair of jeans.  It wasn't anything fancy.  She had a plain blue dufflebag with all her stuff in it, though that would inevitably get transferred to her locker and some moved to whatever the team issued.  She wouldn't stick out at all except for her size, being six and a half feet tall.  There was also the bit about being a woman on a football field, but she was used to that.

When the man called "Paulson, Bethany," she stepped forward and spoke in a clear voice.  "Here sir.  Wide Receiver and Cornerback," the woman said, which would mean she'd need to get a running back's number in order to be legal for both positions, but that really didn't matter all that much.  Her voice wasn't intentionally loud, but it did carry well outdoors, so it would be easily overheard if someone was paying attention.  She did glance over at where Adam was practicing to see how the wide receivers were doing.

  The Caoch Looked up at Bethany,..Well now..won't be hard to palce you..we have another woman on the  Team, Kat Dawlish..our  Kicker... The Dorms  are across the Lot..townhouses  really..But  the Amota's aren't  afaid to spend money..so there you have it..as we head into the Locker rooms, I'll show you where they ladies dress..and I write up your uniform issue...

  A slender  Japanese man  had  just run down the steps of the bleatchers from teh Offices at the top of the stadium...he stopped at Mid filed to watch the small reicver  haul in a rather good pass from the Quarter back..he shouted to the wide out who turned  and grinned  as they Both Jogged  back towards the endzone, the  fellow wearing 19 snapped  a pass to the Kid  who caught it with a grin..The reciver  said...same thing..this  side...

 Fillings  laughed and shook his head, called  hut  and dropped back to   fake  a pump on the out,  and the re;loaded to let the ball go down filed again..

  The  Young Japaneses man greeted the group,Welocme to the Dragons...after you get your lockers and room assignments..you will come see me..we will  get you to side your  contracts, so you can practice...if you are lucky..You'll get your Decal on your helmet..if not...you'll be on the next bus out...

 He looked  at the clip board   and nodded to  the players, a longer look at Ben and Lucas..then he loked at Beth,ahhh..big ten..Lady wide out.....

  Looking over his shoulder at the smaller  reicver who hand hauled int he pass again, he grinned and turned back to her,Maybe   yo can give him some competion..the  tall fellow we have now..drops too many passes!

"Sounds good sir," Bethany responded to the coach easily.  "That does make things a bit easier then, I do imagine".  She then fell quiet until the Japanese man spoke to her.  She turned to face the man politely as he spoke about signing the contracts.  That was always a necessary bit, she imagined.

"Hello sir, and I hope I can give everyone a bit of competition.  And you've got it right.  Badgers wide receiver and cornerback.  I hope I can give our quarterback a nice big target and give the other team's quarterback an unintentional target a few times while I'm at it," she said to the man.  "But I'll do whatever it is you need me to do for the team".

Celeste stopped for a moment from the practice as the head cheerleader walked off and began making her rounds with a couple of guys who had came in their workout area.

She looked at Lu-ti for a moment at her comment and then back at the head.

Maybe, she commented.   How many times have we actually heard that she was going to leave but never have?

With a shrug she walked back to her spot and began stretching and letting the positions run through her head.

 The  Japanses  man bowed slightly,Please..excuse  my manners..all of you. I am Yuto Amota. I played football at Mellon state..with him.. he points over his shoulder to Adam.The Head Coach of the dragons..Coached us both  for the Japanese National team, where  we won  the Championship two years ago....When Father bought the  Team. he brought the Head  Coach with him..Bart Sims...he is tought..make you work..some player..they don't like that...those  are the ones who leave on the next bus...WEinning is first  and  foremost..but not without Honor..not  without class

 ...come now..we  see to your needs..You are all invited to the Rising Son tonight for dinner..just show your card at the door..Many player  go there... they walked down the sideline as Bronk curled up on the  25 and caught a slightly high pass  and turned uip filed to run a few more yards..as he turned back towards the  QB again Yuto called out,ADAM!  SHE COMES TO TAKE YOUR JOB! NOT ONLT TALLER...BUT WAY BETTER LOOKING!

 Bronk stopped and  loked at the group,they could hear the QB say, HA HA! TOLD YA!

 Adam shook his head  and grinned  waving to the group, but his eyes were on the newest wideout...

Bethany walked down the sideline listening to the owner speak.  She didn't respond to the speech, as it certainly seemed like the type that owners would make to new players.  She did listen though, but it didn't seem appropriate to speak.

When Yuto Amota singled her out as a threat to Adam's job, she turned to meet Adam's gaze.  The comments about being taller and better looking weren't actually responded to.  That sort of stuff wasn't unknown to her, given her profession of choice.  Instead, she focused her attention on Adam for the moment.  Her eyes didn't show any hint of hyper-competitiveness that tended to plague wide receivers.  After all, the position had a tendency to create diva complexes among the players.  "Nice grab," she said to Adam in that same calm, confident voice.  "Show me some of the routes later when I get my stuff issued and things have calmed down?" she asked Adam.

Lucas stepped off the bus with a couple of satchel drapped on each shoulder.  He didn't bring much not knowing how long he'd stay or what exact accomodations he would have access to.  So enough to stay a couple of weeks without doing laundry is all he thought of bringing.

Ahead of him was the tall WR/CB, this was going to be an interesting season.  The only time he'd worked with the girls on the field was chasing them off the field when halftime was done.  He'd have to watch her.

  Bronk stopped when he hear what she  said, A Zipped  athe pass back to the  Kid  who  yelped  as it hit his chest.

 He  pushed the helmet back on his head  again, a slow  halfsmile came to his lips  as he jogged over to the Group. that stopped when Yuto stopped. He put out his hand to her, his eye black already smeared from the sweat from practice,Well well...A wideout that's not afraid to work off the clock... when they shook he said, Adam ..Adam Bronk...Nice to meet yhou...meet you all...if Yuto asked you..I might see you folks at the  club for  dsupper..you need anything..questions..you feel you can't  ask a coach..ask me...

 Pulling down his lemet he grins  a bit  as he takes  a couple  backpeddle steps towards the QB again,..be out here, when you'er  ready..the poor guy things he  can overthrow me....

  Gonna have  another one coming  out Fillings...think that rag at the end of your shoulder can hold up?

  Screw you Bronk..I can throw   as  long  as you want to run! The QB  chuckled  as he answered, but there was determination in his eyes...

 Yuto Looked at the others... Quarterbakc is Duke  Filliings...was the  number three..But Lady QB Just was waived Injured..too bad..she had good arm...Duke...has the hunger....

  when they reached the Locker  room entrance  the Coach pointed to the tunnel, that diverted,there was   the signs  for LAdies  and men Men to the bleft, ladies to the right.

  Alright  Paulson..Follw the  trainer  down to yourn laocker area... your equiptment should be there shortly..If Kat's not there, I am sure yuou will meet her, no later then tomorrow at practice.

  Going  down the  ahlls to the Men's  locker rooms  trainers  were busy  ripping ntape  of of the lockers that players had been cut, and putting up adheshive tape  with  thier names  and numbers scrawled on.

  As Young Mr. Amota  said...Yo have to earn your way on the team...you know yuou made it when your  helmet has the dragon decal on...and your tape is replaxced with a brass name plate...good  luck folks....

  the coach went into the coaches room, there were a few others  there and  the fellow that lead them in was going over the clip board with them

"Bethany Paulson," the woman said by way of introduction when Adam offered his hand.  The woman took the offered hand and shook it.  She had a pretty firm grip, but that wasn't uncommon among football players. "I'll keep all that in mind, Adam," she said in response to his statement about being there for questions.

She noticed Lucas behind her when she'd turn to speak with Adam, and there was a hint of recognition in her eye.  She thought she recognized him from watching tapes of a few games, but couldn't place the name off the top of her head.  Instead of pondering it, she turned to listen to the owner speak about Duke, but didn't speak.  The man made it sound like Duke might be the number one quarterback on the team, but she wasn't going to vocalize that.

Once they reached the locker room, she went to the ladies' locker room and found her locker, where she was currently issued the number 47, which suited her just fine.  The ladies locker room was, of course, less crowded than the men's she would imagine.   She set her bag in her locker and started checking out the locker room as a whole while waiting for her equipment to arrive and to find out if she'd be allowed to go out and practice at all today, or if it was going to be purely introductory.

  the  room was , indded  smaller. it was also the locker room used  by the Ladies Soccer Team in New Jacksonville ( also owned  by Amota).

  The  Woman came in with  three helmets, and a  box  full of  face masks, three pairs of shoes, and another woman  came in with a cart that had various  sizes  and widths of shoulder pads, and three jerseys..On  mesh, white  with her number..One Forest Green with her name and Number on, On white  with her name and number on..they weren't  game day jerseys but they were nice.

 The older of the  women said to her, Names  Betty...I run the trainers  for the LAdies here...you need something, I try to wrangle it for you.  Caoch said you might be hitting the filed with  Bronk out there...that;s good..Guy's the energizer Bunny...if you can keep up with him, you'll do well.. Now..what you want in the way of face masks?

"Hi Betty," Bethany responded to the woman.  "If you've got a closed cage SK mask, that'd work for me," the woman said.  The SK was for a skill position player, to help a bit with peripheral vision.  She also provided her sizes for the various other portions of the uniform.  Most of her sizes tended, unsurprisingly, towards the larger sizes of the equipment.  "Which of the jerseys is the one I should wear for practice?" she asked.  It was a new player question, but it was necessary.

  Betty  pointed to the   mask and  the yonger  woamn used the  battery screwdriver to start screwing it in..wear the nameless white mesh..that's  what you'll wear  most practices unless it announced for a scrimmage...You want Molded  spikes, or screwins? Most Guys like the moulded..but some of the backs  like the screwins?

"I'll take screw-ins," Bethany responded to Betty.  "Lets me adjust a bit to the field conditions a little bit better".  She would prefer the option to change things up if it was necessary.  You couldn't do that with the molded spikes.  While she spoke, Bethany started going through her bag and changed into a plain green shirt and started getting into the parts of the uniform that didn't have to be put together like the shoes and helmet.

  once they got the  shoes she liked, the  trainwer  screwed in 1/4 in spikes  for the turf filed they had.

 Betty looked her over   and made her put on the helmet, she changed the shinstrpa three times  until she got one that she thought looked right...use the  small blatter pump to inflate the  airpads on the inside...  alright..get going..I'll be out in a bit, to see if you need  air changes in the  helmet. or if you want longer spikes...best get out there before that QBs  arm falls off...

Bethany finished putting on all of her gear before she nodded.  "Thanks Betty," the woman said politely to the other woman.  With that she took off at a light jog back out to field to see if she could find Adam.

Once she got out on the field, she started going through a few stretches to loosen up a bit.  It wouldn't take her long to get warmed up.  In the meantime, she glanced around to see if she could see the man around still.

  at the  far end of  the stadium Fillings  was still  standing there and the kid was  catching another pass from Bronk, this  time Bronk threw the pass as if he was rolling out.

 Fillings  pointed  down filed  to Beth, and Adam turned  and smiled, then jogged  back to the endzone to line up once more.

Bethany finished stretching on the far end of the field.  She did keep an eye on what was happening down at the far end of the field while she did so.  Once she felt properly loosened up, she jogged down towards the other two.  "Alright.  Hope I didn't take too long to get everything sorted out," Bethany told Adam and Fillings as she arrived.

  He grinned, naw, we  got another hour  yet....

  Fillings   snorted,we have a half  hour Little MAn...after that, you can practice throwing...

  Adam looked  Beth over  and nodded, she would note his  face mask had  two bars, the lower  one dropped dwon like  a smile, and he had  one bar  comeing down the middle og the helmet, splitting the facemask in half. He wore   molded spikes.

  Alright Beth?  We  are using   the spread, most times...everynow  and then they will throw in the wildcat..but i rather not talk about that...anyway..we run off a passing tree..when the QB calls  'READS' in the huddle, we will run our  routes as dictated by the D...the tree goes stright up from where you line up..Hook. square out  ,Square in,..slants...Posts..and Fly..when they want routes runt, they will feed it to use in the huddle...Get loose and save Filling's  arm By starting out  with a  5 yard hook, then a 8 yard  squar out, then an 8 yard square in..then we'll go from there..."

 Fillings shook his head,..save my arm , he says...alright Beth.. Hook on hut...if i do it right, it should be halfway  to you as you turn around, so get that head around....  he called Hut..3 step drop and the ball sanpped off his  hand..Bronk stood there with  helmet slid back, watching her feet, eyes and hands...

"Got it," Bethany said as she listened to the man's explanation.  It seemed simple enough.  Just a quick little hook.  Nothing too long.  As Fillings called hut, Bethany took off, moving quickly down the field.  She was pretty quick for her size.  Right around the five yard mark, she smoothly but quickly turned inward only to see the ball coming towards her.  She let the ball come right into her hands, tucking it under her arm as she turned and sprinted a few yards downfield before stopping herself.  It was always good to move as if you were continuing the play instead of just stopping with the reception.

The woman tossed the ball back at Fillings as she jogged back to the line.  "Eight yard square out, then square in, right?" she confirmed as she got back to the line.

  Fillings  nodded...Out  first, then In...the ball will be on its was as you cut..

  Adam added, drive out of your cuts...yuou'll get a least another  2 feet seperation that way..that could be the diffewrance, in this league, between a knockdown and a reception...

  Once more  Fillings  said  hut. three steps and fired the ball..there was no mercy in his throws, the ball was  coming ..game-day-speed..he wanted to see  what she could do as well.

  Ben andLucas  were approached  by Yuto, Please sign this...it  is simple contract to allow you to practice...the base  pay for Camp..Your agents  and I will work on the  Contract you will play under , durning the season...should  we come to an impasse, then..you will not be here anylong...but this  contract gives you pay for yhour time in came..and will not effect the real contract.

Bethany gave Adam a nod at his suggestion.  She was happy to get any suggestions she could get.  The NFL was a lot harsher than college ball.  She lined up, and on hut, she shot downfield.  As she hit the eight yard mark, she cut out quickly, bursting sharply at the appointed location.  She looked back and saw the ball coming her way.  She was in position to receive the ball, and she caught it, though it took her an extra motion to tuck it in neatly.  There wasn't a lot of question that the woman was fast.  You had to be in order to play in the NFL.  She cut quickly back upfield for a few yards before she slowed and turned around, tossing it back towards Filling.

"Was the drive better that time?" she asked as she got ready for the next pass mentally, standing near where she'd been lining up.  The square in was next, which was a whole different animal.

  Fillings  Looked at Bronk  who shrugged,Don't look at me  , Rag Arm. You'er the one that's throwing...

  Fillings  gave Adam a sneer,  Tha  was fine..but you need to get your head around as you drive....Bronk?   One out?

 The  small WR pulled his  Helmet down and gave Fillings  a dark look. But Lined up on the  same side as  as Beth, Out at 8....

  Fillings  said  hut, three steps  and the  wall whistled pass Beth and the boy Just as  Adam's  foot  hit the turf sending  a spray of  ground up tires into the air, when the lead foot hit the ground his hands  were up by his ehad, which had  already turned..the ball hit  him  Numbers  high, and much like beth the ball was tucked...and he came jogging back after throwing the ball back to the kid...

 ..Lets try an out  at 8...

 Bronk nodded and ran the Out, the ball sailed 5 feet over his head landing near the Bleachers..What the hell Duke?  and he Jogged  after the Ball, Fillings  took a few  quick steps up to Beth,..real Quick...the guys  a workaholic...he eats drinks and sleeps  football..so take what you can use..file the rest..but?  if you want to leanr? well..he's on this team for a reason, and its not his size...

  Bronk was frowning, Cripes! You looked  like Jamarcus Russel that time..what the hell?

  Ball slipped....guess i am getting tired...Ok Beth...try slanting  in at 8...Look for it off the line...in  the game..if the LBs  are playing off, we'll just fire it in...alright?  On Hut...

 Once more the ball snapped off his  hand , tageted for  about 8 1/2 yards.

Bethany watched the play from her location, keeping an eye on Bronk and how he moved and when his head turned.  Meanwhile she was mentally playing it against how she had done the same play.  To the casual observer, it probably didn't look that much different, but Bronk's head did turn quicker.  She'd have to work on that.

"Got it," Bethany responded to Fillings as she lined up for the slant.  On hut, she shot forward in the slant pattern, head coming around quickly and hands up ready to receive.  She caught the ball and turned her head upfield just as quickly, continuing the route and escaping from the imaginary defense.

 The QB  laughed  as he jogged to   the locker room, a Tall black player built slender, with long  arms  was walking to the gate, and shook his head,..Hey Chic? Don't  let that Midget work ya to death..he still thinks that's all there is in this world is football...

 Bronks galred at the  fellow and said, that's  right Givens, keep shooting your mouth off...you'll be able to see me work every game  , while you'er at home watching it on TV...

 The  Black man whipped him the finger  as he walked out the gate.

  Bronk looked at  Beth,..Ok..High school i was the  #3 QB..finished out  my  Jr  and SR years as QB, cause everyone else got hurt...recieving numbers went down, and my height? well..no DI schools look for that...College..same thing...we won the DIII title  my JR year..i hit Yuto with a pass in the enzone in OT..but?  Numbers  down...size..didn't matter how fast i am...so? Now here i am, In Japan, Sims let me be a wideout...Cananda? i was a slot guy..loved it...now?  i come back here..some genius thinks its  agood idea  for  me to be the running QB...I keep hoping they pull another QB off the street since  Jo was  hurt...they waived her  injured...don't know if she'll be back next year or not...

 He sighed, So? If  I gonna  throw to you. Lets  try from the 10 yard line going in, I roll and throw  like  i would if  we run the cat from there...that way you'll be used to seeing the ball from my level coming out....one thing? Don't give up on me...just because  you can't see me, doesn't mean i don;t know where you are supposed to be...right now, we'll try a fade to the Left corner..once  we get that down, we'll do the right corner...then we'll see how many more youwant to run...

  acting  as if he was taking a shotgun snap He  dropped back  and   set the ball an an arc towards the back corner of the endzone.. it camedwon, nose down...

Bethany listened to Bronks talk about how he finally got to the NFL and nodded.  "Well, not being the same as all the other players is something I know a bit about.  I had to spend twice as long in the gym to hold my own against the guys the whole way through, and figure out most positions just in case someone decided girls couldn't play.  I know where you're coming from," she said.

She lined up and ran the fade.  This route was one of her favorites, if only because she could usually reach over someone if she had to.  Of course, without an actual defender, it was much easier for her to catch the ball.  She kept her eye on the ball and caught it over her outside shoulder, watching it the whole way.

The woman jogged back and tossed the guy the football.  "Right corner then, and I'm not particularly tired yet.  I play both sides of the ball, so endurance is something I've trained for". She lined up for the next play.

  Bronk Grinned,alright then...watch your footwork..i mean don't  watch it..feel your  footwork..you were in that time,, but make it a points, to drag the toes, even when youo know you are in...the spray of the  rubber bits, looks  real good on the rerply camaras, refs can't screw  us when they see that spray...


  Just as they were  ready to run the next fade. a Tall good looking  guy dress in a sports  jacket, big watch on his wrist, some rings, he grinned at Adam and pointed at beth with a smile, and headed out the  gate,..That's  Steele..right now? he's the Number one QB....great arm..no legs..tough, can take a pounding..but..he has a problem..if he don't  fix it..Fillings  will be number one by the  5th game....

  Adam-son!...You are not practicing  with Miss Paulson  before she signs the practice  contract?..that would be very , very bad.... Yuto  spoke to Adam  and never looked at Beth,..so.....he  waved the clipboartd behind his back for beth to come up and sign,..I guess she must still be in the locker room?...or maybe..she isn looking for me..how foolish of me..i should have stayed   in the hall way

 Adam Grinned,  I agree Yuto..it  would  be very bad for her not to sign ..THE STANDARD PRACTICE CONTRACT SO SHE CAN PRACTICE UNTIL HER AGENT  WORKS OUT HER DEAL....  he said  those words very loud, so Beth would undestand   the paper was not her Game  contract.

Bethany didn't say anything quite yet, and instead came around the side and signed the contract (after glancing it over, of course, and reading the top parts quickly).  However, she didn't continue speaking, and instead made her way off to the side to let Yuto continue on speaking.  Stupid paperwork.

  Yuto  brought the clipboard  around the front again..and he began to laugh,Oh!  How  silly of  me...she must have signed it when we where going in..never mind  Adam...forgive  me for interupting your  workout...I must return to my office, if i am going to make dinner at the club...

  he grinned  and  took off at a jog, giving Beth a wink as he  ran by.

 ..so?  want to try  some double Moves?  Steele can get the  ball about 55 yards  down field..Fillings  a good  60..I am  have  around Steele's range..but..I am a reciver  so that gives me an edge...know where to throw it a bit better then he does...so? whatca thing..a few deep ones?

Kat stood quietly on the far end of the field. Yet again, here she was, staring up at the goal posts. Throughout her playing career, be it high school or college. Friendly field or foe's, she would take the time to stare at the goal posts. She viewed it as both studying, and locking wills. The yellow giant structure was her best friend and her worst enemy.

Kat had a football in her hands, and she was absent-mindedly turning it over as she stood there, in a practice jersey, and black yoga pants. She had her cleats on, but hadn't bothered with pads. She wasn't scheduled for heavy duty work today, unless the coach decided to make her do anything else...

Still, the lithe kicker was oblivious to the world around her right now. She was engaged in contemplation.

"I'm Ben Hope, tight end," Ben introduced himself. He soon found his space in the locker room, and changed into practice clothing, eager to get moving after far too long sitting still and travelling.

He grinned at the tape on the locker. As usual, some well-meaning but ill-informed soul had written 'Benjamin' rather than 'Benedict' - he'd better say something before they reached the brass plate stage.

Dressed in plain grey, and with an unmarked helmet in his hand, Ben headed out to see who was around and who'd toss a ball with him.

"The deep ball is good.  A double move like that will take me six or so seconds to get to the outer edge of your passing range then," Bethany responded, to give Adam an idea of her open field speed.  "Just tell me where you want me to end up and if there's a specific way you want me to juke".  She did notice the other woman on the field while she talked the play over with Adam, as well as the man who'd just arrived on the practice field.

"Hi, I'm Ben Hope, TE. Want to throw a few?" said Ben to Bethany and Adam.

"Hello Ben.  I remember seeing you on the bus.  Got all your paperwork filled out I take it?" Bethany responded to the man with a smile, referring to the practice contract.  "I'm Bethany Paulson.  Wide Receiver and Cornerback," she said added by way of introduction.  She was dressed in pads, but she had wanted to see how the full padded uniform felt when she was playing.  "We were just going to throw a few deep, though I'm sure we could alternate and I could switch between covering you and receiving," she suggested.  "That is, if Adam doesn't mind having a couple targets to throw to," she added.

"Sounds good to me," said Ben, looking over at the other man. "Adam? You OK with that?"

He stretched and jogged on the spot, getting warmed up ready to run.

Bethany stretched out a little bit and took stock of the newcomer.  He was tall, almost as tall as she was, though maybe he weighed a little bit more.  That wasn't out of the ordinary though, so the woman figured they were pretty evenly matched from a pure physical standpoint.  "So, I don't know exactly how they do the weight room here, but if either of you need a lifting partner either during the required time or off-hours, let me know.  Wouldn't mind a fellow ball catcher to work with," she said, lumping the tight end into the general receiving group.

"It would be appreciated. I like to run and swim as well, if you care for either. Wonder if there's a pool anywhere around here."

He looked round for a football.

"I'm good with either of those.  I'll admit I haven't met a lot of football players who actually like running or swimming.  Most I've worked with were way more into the idea that you got all the cardio you needed on the field and that you just needed the weight room and maybe a treadmill to warm up on," Bethany said to the man as they talked.  The talk was also giving her a chance to catch her breath, and while she wasn't tired, a break every few throws wasn't a bad thing, either.  "I would be surprised if there wasn't a pool somewhere around here, to be honest.  The facility seems to be pretty well equipped".

  Adam said something to the Kid that was handling footballs for them and  he ran down towards  the far end, where the other  woman stood.....

  Adam chuckles as Ben and Beth talked,well..I'll throw   as much as you folks  want to run..i had extra  reps  before the Bus came in, so i guess its my turn to throw,  Lets Try that Out  and Up, Beth... FAke the out at 9...I'll pump. as soon as i reload. I'll let it go to  your  Inside...if we do it in a game...I'll resd the saftey..but i like to keep it on your inside  so you face the field...

 By this  time the Kid   had reached  Kat and looked up at her with a grin,..Miss Dawlish? Adam  said you might  want to come down and meet the  two new players? Especially the  other girl...

  He grinned , and  ran back to  the far end to get back to his  job of  feeding footballs toi the thrower.

  Adam said "HUT"  and rolled a few steps to his  right, as she took a step to the outside  his arm flashed  foreard, but  held the ball, at the same  time  his feet dug into the turf  and he L:et the Ball Go down the right sideline, a high arc, with a very tight spiral that seemed as if it  wouild meet with Beth, around thier  45.

  As he wathed the throw, he said to Ben, welcome to the Dragons, Ben...Hope you are a passcatching Tight end. the others  seem to be  the blocking type...be a damn good thing if you were good at both...

 He watched the ball coiming down his eyes  going from Beth to the ball to see how close he would make it.

Bethany lined up for the route and took off when Adam called hut.  She ran to the nine yard line and cut sharply out for a single step, selling the move with a look in that direction with her head.  As quickly as she cut out, however, she juked up the field and to the inside to sell the route, as she was effectively on the same course as she was initially, just with the fake out to get rid of her imaginary defender.

After the juke, she arrived at the forty-five yard line just as the ball was getting there.  She had to slow just a tad as she turned her head to look the ball into her arms, and the woman continued running a few more yards before turning back around.  She gripped the football and threw a spiral back in the direction of the kid who was feeding footballs to the thrower.  She then continued her jog back to the line.

 He smiled  as she caught  it, he shook his head as he said to Ben,she bhad to wait on that one..not good..have to let it go a bit earlier...

   Alright Ben, Let me send her  down the other sideline, and we'll get you loose....

 When Beth  came  BAck he nooded,..good grab...now the other sideline...I'm gonna let it go sooner, so you don't have to slow  down...i hope...  he grinned.

 On "hut"..he rolled to  his  Left, Squared his shoulders and Fired the Ball after  a smaller  fake pump , taking a bit of the arc off the Ball the spiral  was ;looking like it might come down on the  other 49

Bethany nodded.  "Alright, the other side then," she said as she lined up.  She took off on the word hut and dashed down the field.  She juked again at the nine yard line, taking a hard cut out and looking that way with her head, just as if she was going to run that out pattern.  However, she cut just as quickly back as she did before and dashed forward.  Deep balls were something she was pretty good at.  She liked getting into these one-on-one matchups, as she tended to try and use her height and size to her advantage.

She looked up and back to look the ball in around the forty-nine yard line.  She didn't have to slow down on this one, and she continued down the field for those last few yards before again turning around.  She knew Adam wasn't the primary quarterback, and she knew he wasn't going to throw a deep, so while she hadn't adjusted her speed, she had expected the ball to land about there based on him releasing it sooner.

She ran back, throwing the ball to the kid in the process.  "Better that time," she said as she came closer.  "Didn't have to slow down that time".

 Adusting his helmet he nodded,well..if  i ever have to throw  that deep? Its gonna be , because  someone screwed up the coverage. I rather be catching those, then throwing them.

  Alright Ben...lets line you up on the right HAsh..start with a  Curl, then well do an out..then you guys  can alternate...how's that sound?

  Once Ben Is Lined Up, he says HUT.. the take a few steps to his right and  Fires the Ball, aiming  for the  breastplate on his chest.

"I'm the catching sort of TE, but I can tackle when the opportunity presents itself," Ben grinned, as he watched Bethany catch a couple of passes from Adam.

Then he took position, and ran the first pattern flat out at Adam's 'Hut' - curling in just at the right moment and gathering the ball in, gripping it eagle claw style and sprinting a few more yards before slowing and throwing it in a lazy spiral to the nearest ballboy.

"Nice throw, Adam - couldn't have missed it had I tried!" he called, jogging back down the field, breathing easily.

Bethany watched the play quietly, observing both it and the way that Adam set himself before he threw.  It was important information for her to gather from both an offensive and defensive standpoint.  "Nice catch there," she said to the man as he caught the ball.  "Just wait until I'm covering you though.  I promise it won't be so easy with someone tryng to steal the ball away," she commented with a small grin behind her mask.

 Adam's  eyes looked to Beth, a smile at the friendly Challenge she put out there..Aright Ben..Lets see the Out..Line up on the right Hash...make certain you drive out of that cut...and get your head around...I like to lead  folks coming out of the cuts? But sometimes the D-back is sitting on it, so it has to come into the Body..now?  I'm throwing this on your Cut...if yuour not Looking,  You'll feel it!

 At Hut  Adam took a straight Drop back..Three steps  and  Let go..the Ball on a line Just a step infront of  where Ben would be coming out of the break, Pad ( throat) high....

Ben took position, his sheer delight at just playing the game showing clearly. He ran the pattern on Adam's 'Hut' ending with a leap as the ball arrived, gathering it into his chest on the way back down.

"Not a bad veritical," Bethany said.  She walked forward a few steps and turned to face Adam.  "Alright, I'll go cornerback here and try to defend him," the woman suggested.  "Minimal contact though, and no tackling," she suggested.  They weren't doing a full contact drill, as fun as that could be.  She'd mostly be going for swatting the ball away or catching the ball, one of the two, though she'd settle for disrupting Ben's routes, too.  There were a bunch of different things she could do to disrupt the offensive player she was covering, after all.

  Adam  nods, Push him around,  just a whack on the back after the catch is good...Sims  will kill me  if i get two of his new players hurt in a extra credit  practice....

  He  and Ben stood there  and Adam  gave him a route. Ben would line up on the right Hash.


 As Beth Lined up shewatched the TE, waiting  for the 'hut'

"Right... let's dance, Bethany. Minimal contact - this time!"

Ben took post and waited for Adam's call. As it came he shot off towards the sideline then breaking back postwards, his eyes swivelling as he watched Adam, hands ready for the ball...

Bethany played some initial close coverage, keeping up up with Ben as he ran his route.  She kept to the inside of Ben, and showed that she was quick.  She watched the way he shifted his body for the break, and kept alongside the man with her speed.  As she broke, she brought her own hands up near her face and attempted to cut across Ben's body with the intent of either intercepting the ball or with knocking it away, whichever opportunity presented itself.  Being a wide receiver herself, she had better catching skills than most cornerbacks, so she liked to put herself in that position to cut across and steal the ball.

One notable piece of her blocking attempt was that she continued her movement downfield, in the event that she didn't block the ball, so that she'd still be able to tackle (or, in this case, touch) Ben so she didn't completely blow the coverage.

Ben reached out, half lunging as the ball burned in, not quite grabbing it but dropping a shoulder to keep Bethany away... then laughing aloud as she smacked him on the back.

"Nice love tap," he said. "I'm sure you could take me down if we were playing full contact... but I don't let go of the ball that easily..."

He grinned and tossed it to her.

"... except when you are on the same team!"

 Adam's  drop stopped at three steps, hsi release  was hard, harder then  either of them felt in the  reps they had been doing..the Ball was a good two steps to the Inside of  ben amd  a bit over Helmet high...

 Which...was a good thing..the tall women Moved on the Ball, her  fingers  just get a nick on it, as did Ben's...the Ball bounced  harmlessly  down field  , the boy running like  a madman to get it..after tossing one of the others to Adam.

  Adam grabbed his face mask and Tugged it  down, mixed emotions on his face  as  he  gave his head a shake, Good Play on the  ball..dammit...Sorry Ben... bit too much inside...

 not that it mattered much,  Fillings  might have thried tpo throw it low...and Beth would have been going the other way..Steele would have layed the ball out there..and  it  still would have been  incomplete....

Let's  try another....

 Adam  motioned  for Ben to move to theLeft HAsh..once they were ready, he said  HUT.........

Having took a good look around the campus and then making his way towards the locker room, he found his name taped up on the locker door.  Having found a safe place to put his bags, he took the practice gear on without padding, gripped one of the helmets he found and made his way out to the field.

Being as pumped and excited as he was, he took a look at the ones already on the field and any other officials he may have overlooked.  He grinned pleasantly at the representative who brought over a practice contract to sign.  At least something was semi-official, which pleased him.

Being the "shadow" that he was known for, Lucas took a few steps towards the edge of the field and stood watching as things simply happened.  His helmet dangling from his crooked finger.

Bethany caught the ball and threw it over to the boy feeding the balls to Adam.  "Well, we'll see if we can't get you to give the rock up a little bit more freely to me today.  Though really, a tackle means I didn't do my primary job on defense, so I'll keep with trying to prevent you from sniffing the ball," she offered to the man with a competitive grin as she jogged back to the starting position.  "I'll hang around on defense for awhile, actually.  Keeps us both doing things," she suggested.

This time, she had a better idea of how Ben would run as a receiver, at least from a defensive point of view, so she was hoping to have a better chance at a deflection or an interception.  Lucas was noticed, and got a casual wave before she got ready for the next play.

"Great stuff..."

Ben got set for the next pattern, now wise to just how determined and skilled Bethany was. He ran hard, cutting in and trying to anticipate the ball...

Bethany backpedaled a bit to keep further downfield of Ben as he ran downfield.  Once he cut, she immediately cut in the same direction, exploding the same way.  She actually put on an extra burst of speed to try to get further along before she cut back and tried to come back in from the right, effectively trying to cut Ben off and steal the ball that way.

Again, if Ben got the ball before she got there, she'd be coming at him and would likely be able to give him another love tap in place of the tackle.  Her goal was always to maintain coverage and prevent yards after the catch in the event she couldn't steal or defend the actual ball.

 THis Time. Ben Hooked  up, Adam's  Pump ws hard, holding onto the ball  then Reloading  and Letting the Ball arc down the  seam as  Ben turned up field...she bit  a bit on the  inside, but her  speed and height  could come into play...

  He watched the pair move down field after the ball. his eyes  going fromthe ball , to the two players...from where he stood, he  couldn't  tell if it  was  gpoing to be incomplete or not.

 While he  watched, the boy tugged at  the front of his jeresy,..Mr  Bronk? There's  another new guy there....

  One of the  other players  was walkingout towards the gate, he stopped behind Lucas, the fellow  had  an inch or so on him, but was maybe  only 213-215. He watched  the ball go down field and said to Lucas, Welocme to the Dragons...name's  Duke Fillings..right now? the  #2  QB...think real hard, before you go out on the field with the little guy ..he's like a tarbaby..once he sucks you into the extra  pactice..its  damn hard to get away

  He grins  a bit as his eyes  fall the spiral coming down to the two players ...

Lucas nodded at Bethany as he got a slight nod/wave from her.  He was basically seeing what his team was made of by simply watching during scrimmage.  He was seeing whose weak spot was where.

He heard the steps coming up behind him, he gave Fillngs a look over and nodded.

Eh, nothing that I can't handle, he said his pecks slightly twitching from a mixture of excitement and nerves.

  the  other man grinned  as he headed towards  the Gate,well..I'm going to my room, and then to Dinner  at the club..maybe  we'll see you folks there...if you can sneak away from the workaholic!

  As the Ball came  down, Adam Looked over to Lucas  and waved him over.

  Alexia waved to Celeste  to get the  rest of the girls into the   locker room, and cover  what they will do tomorrow...she walked out the gate with the 2 suits.

  Lu-ti stood near her  and shook her head,The  Japanese girl said to Celeste,..if i were you..i would start acting like the Captain. Mr and Mrs Amota does not like disloyality...if Alexis is goingnto jump ship for those  cosmetic guys...they aren't keeping her here...

  As they turned to  walk to the homecheerleaders  locker room, Lu-ti smiled and said, Going to the club tonight?..I wonder if  we can get the  dance contest going  again...I would like to see Adam lose  again...maybe...we  can think of  a differant bet!

Bethany wasn't able to deflect this ball herself.  She could be in the general area, but she couldn't actually touch this one.  She had bit just a tad too much.  Regardless of if Ben caught the ball or not, she gave him a nod.  "Nice move," she said as she made her way back towards the line.  "I should probably start getting ready for that whole dinner thing they're talking about," she commented to Adam.  "Thanks for tossing the ball around".

Ben leaped, extending himself... just getting his fingertips to the ball... juggling clumsily, he managed to end up in a heap, curled around the ball.

He got up.

"Sorry... not quite close enough to make a clean catch."

He looked over at Bethany.

"Thank you, that was a fun way to begin."

He trotted down the field towards Adam, still holding the ball.

 Adam  smiled  as Ben pulled the ball in.  Yuto was walking  across the  Field once more, wearing his  suit  and  had his attache with him. Adam...go now...these people just go here...plently of time to practice... eh grinned. He watched  as Adam gave the Boy one of the Balls. They were Stamped  with the Dragon's logo.

 The Boy smiled  as Adam screibbled his name and number on the ball, There ya go kid. Thanks  for the help. the Boy took back his  marker  and the Ball his eyes  wide  as he scampered towards the gate.

  Yuto?  I misplaced one of the practice balls...not sure where it might be...

 Yuto nodded, we lose things  everyday Adam...I will keep that in might when the equpiment man calls  me. Turning to the others  as he walked away, Hope to see you all tonight!

    Adam Motioned  towards the locker  rooms,I'm going in, get washed up. Have to take some things  back to my room, then wil head off to the Rising Son...My address  is 1919 Dragon LAne...littler  joke of Yuto's i suppose...don't  know where you folks are, but it will be in one of the Townhouses on Dargon Lane for certain..YHOu can check witht he Dragon's office to get my Cell if any of you need a Ride. But the Club  isn't that far away...he  had it built near the complex  to catch all the fans  for the  teams  that use the  stadium and the fields...

  He picke dup the other 2 footballs and began to walk towards  the locker rooms

"It sounded like I was sharing with Kat," Bethany offered.  Which would be a surprise to just about nobody, seeing as they were the females on the team.  "That's what the coach who talked to me off the bus said at least.  I'll see you at dinner," the woman offered.

With that she turned and started off towards the locker rooms in order to get changed.  So far, the day had seemed fairly good, with only one real mishap that she'd had.  She'd just have to be careful not to make that sort of mistake in the future.

   Adam  Nodded, We had  dorms  before the big cuts  came...there  are soccer teams that use the dorms  so we are moved to the Townhouses..two players  per House...3 rooms up stairs and  downs stairs, not  counting the kitchen..not a bad  place really...once the season ebgins, you can find another place..but as long  as you stay at the townhouses, the rent is like 25% ...since the Amtoa's own..well..just about everything, in New Jacksonville.

"Nobody's told me where I am to stay... or at least, if they did I missed it," said Ben.

"Do you have a house-mate yet? Anyway, if I get changed now, I'd appreciate a ride if you don't mind. I sold my vehicle in Oklahoma... guess I'll have to sort out some wheels if they say they are keeping me."

Ben headed off towards the locker-room with thoughts of a quick shower in mind.

Lucas stayed behind a moment to catch up with Adam as the Owner made his announcement to Adam to let the newbies have a moment to breathe.

So the club is the only thing planned for this evening? he asked Adam and the others from coming off the field.  I'm not certain who or where I'm staying at either Ben, guess we'll have to find out, eh?

Lucas walked to the locker room with the group if nothing else to gather his satchels and move towards the place he'd be staying.

I've assumed that watching how quickly some of the players come in and out of the squad, she said to Lu-ti.  I have passed a few ideas along to her, but it seems as if it doesn't matter.  Guess I'll propose those ideas to the other girls instead.  Maybe an early morning meeting when we know that Alexis is still tending to her beauty sleep.

She gave a shrug and headed to the cheerleaders lockerroom to clean up and get ready for the evening.

Maybe, I'll tag along tonight, she commented.  Unless one of the other guys decides to snag me away for the night.  I've got several who've called me wanting a date.

She rolled her eyes at the notion, even though she's made it pretty clear that she didn't date co-workers, including players.

  Adam    lookls at  Ben  and Lucas  as they head  towards the Lockerroom  Yuto should have had  someone give you a  envolupe  with yhou address and Keys...we'll check  when we get in the  locker room..if there isn't anything waiting, then I call him on the cell...

  In each  of the new players'  lockers, was   a manila envolope with the  Dragon's  Logo  and the players name and Number on... Ben was assigned to Adam's  townhouse..Yuto's smiley face on the note.

 Adam chuckled,must have  figured  we were working out , so he tossed yhou in with me..hope you like  watching films...

 Lucas  was in Townhouse 1924...thus  far ..by himself.

 As  Adam readied  for  a quick shower  he said the the new folks in the locker room ( the other bus folks  got thier  stuff and  spilt), The Culb is a Big  deal to Yuto. When we played at Mellon state there was a club down the street we went to..catered to jocks...When i played in Japan with him, Sims  was our coach..there were two such clubs...for my part. when I played  for BC in  Canada..we had a couple down the road..seems like it helped the team jell a bit, to get together off the cloack..course..you always have your Jerks...but..with this team..there won't be any of those hanging around...When we play Dallas..you can ask the WR Gearhart about that...wasn't much a team player..and didn't buy into the whole 'win as a team thing'..course, most of the old Jags didn't thing  that way..anyway..he's gon  and next year we have a draftpick coming from the Cowboys  for him..everyone is happy.

  He took his shower  and threw on his jeans  and Dragon's tee shirt, gatrhered his bag,anyone  want a ride over to the townhouses...comealong...

  when she  entered the locker  room, she  saw her envolope as well, the Key was to townhouse  1902...with a note that said, Kat Dawlish was the other  roomer.

  If she wwanted to  she could catch a ride with Adam, or  walk over, or have the golfcart guys drive her over.

Bethany saw the envelope when she arrived at her townhouse, which wasn't really much of a surprise.  She spent a bit of time getting out of her pads and changing back into her jeans and black tank top.  Only once she'd finished changing did she reach down to actually open the envelope and confirm what she'd already figured out about her roomer.  It wasn't like it was going to be anybody else, unless they would have decided to stick her by herself, and that wouldn't have made any sense.

  walking out  the locker  and  and Coming out onto the field. The  wideout walks down the track, is Duffle on  o9ne shoulder  as he looks at the field. He felt good..the practice  wasn't bad, and the extra  reps with fillings felt  good. he frowned a little as he thought  about   the lost of Jo to being waived injured...he hoped a new QB  would be picked up..he didn't  want to be the  #3...wildcat was bad enough...

  He nodded to the Guard and went out to his  neon,  waiting to see if  any of the others  wanted  a ride over.

"Looks like we are together, Adam. I like films, but I like watching and analysing football plays too..."

He showered and dressed in a pair of dark slacks and a check shirt (not having any Dragons gear yet!), got his stuff and followed Adam out, happy to accept a ride.

Bethany came out of the locker room with her things and made her way over to the parking lot.  "Mind giving me a lift?" Bethany asked. "I don't quite know my way around yet, though I'm told it isn't all that far away," she added to the man.  Ben got a nod from the woman.  "Where you staying now, Ben?" she asked.  "I'm with Kat, which isn't really surprising".

"I have been billeted with Adam," replied Ben. "If we get along as well off the field as on, we ought to do fine."

  He opens the  trunbk to ther Neon, see that  row  of  town houses there? that's the players  Billets. Our addresses  are right on the front of the doors...its  about a mile from hear across the  parking lot...so..I take the car...had the gofcart guys  take me a few times, but..well..i rather not bother them. The Club is  a few miles down the road from here..they put it  right by the Off ramp so they have plenty of traffic on game day, no matter who is playing..can't wait to see what happens when we play our first preseason game.

 Getting in and puts on his mirrors, a grin on his  face,..any of you folks need a ride to the Club,  let me know..I'll be leaving  about 8:15..it starts  at 8..but i hate  beenign the first one there..let the  reporters  and such  jump on the early folks....

 starting up the car, he says to Beth, Kat's  got a car down here..damn nice one..draft choice's car...this is..well..a freeagent's car...If she's not  arounbd, you can ride with us, if you don't leave  when i do, they have couresty cars  and  cabs  all over the place...

With his bags in hand, Lucas nodded that he'd take advantage of the ride with Adam and the two others as long as there was room.  He'd watch where they went so it'd be easier for him to find on foot later.

So what's the DC for this place, he asked Adam since it seemed obvious to him that he knew about this place rather well.

I brought the basics with me, I don't think I packed a suit and tie in here, he said semi-joking.

Hearing his comment about Kat, he gave a brief smirk.  Sounds like Kat, he thought aloud.

  Once  all were in, He pulled out  from  the fence  by the Player's parking, and wheeled down the   main LAne of the Parking  lot. It was not hard to see the Townhouses, that were for the Players..the Houses  stood next to eachother like a  SanFranciso postcard...only level. and a  10 foottall stone wall surrounded the entrance into the communtiy.

  The Gatekeepr Looked at Adam and Nodded to him, making sure to  note the other players, Adam turned down to the left.. the Houses  started  with 1900 each pair was seperated by a small yard. He stopped at 1902-1903...There's your's Beth. Oh? Dress code is either really nice..or pretty nice..no shorts  and flip-flops, stuff likem that. They'll turn you away, no matter who you are..I normally have a colllared shirt and jeans or dockers or  something like that..

 Once  Beth is out, He wheels the   car  about , stopping  at  Lucas's place.we're  just up the  street..they are set in a square..big central Lot in the middle for team parties  and such... Just ring up the townhouse if you want a ride to the  Club...

 When Lucas is out, Adam mtakes his Neon  up  and pulls into the slot  in front of the 1919 townhouse.alright...we're here..I already have the  downstairs, leaves the  upstairs  for you...normall i watch  the  flims  until 12:00 or soemthing, depends  when we get in...so you'll be able to sleep if you don't want to  study.

"Sounds good to me. Do you like cooking or do you prefer to eat out? I'm not much of a one for nightlife, but I'll come with you tonight if I may, see what the club's like and meet people," said Ben, getting his stuff and climbing out of Adam's vehicle.

  Adam opens  the trunk and  gets  his bag out, slinging it over his shoulder,..Good Idea to  show up at the club, once  in a while..Amota's  like the family thing..I'm thinking that's  why i am here..They Hired Sims....we  and Yuto beat his  team in the DIII divison semi finals..he remebered that..so i got the call to go to Japan...then? when i was in CFL...Sims  called my agent..after the Amota's signed him to coach...Nothing happens  by accident  with them...Like  Kat? Who knows  why they signed a woman Kicker..But you can bet she is good..Amota  doesn't  do stuff just to grabbed the headlines...now...mind you...if he has  something good..he'll make sure  it grabs the headlines..

 He chuckles  and Unlocks the Door,Spartan furnishing...You have  two beds up stairs...a couch  and chair  like these.. TV.. with   the Super Cable bundle...we share the Kitchen,  and its  down  here...the stairs  leading Up to  your  apartment, is  right by the entrance to the kitchen...Its  stocked..sorta.. there is hotdogs,  soda,  and  some beer, though i got that for folks who want it..i try to stay away from it...there's Milk,. i have  stuff for salads, lots of frozen  dinners for  quick stuff, and the cupbards have  alot of stuff...so? Help yourself.

Kat hadn't bothered to stick around the practice field much beyond the kid coming over and pointing out what Adam had said. However, with the team in transition as much as it was, Kat was on the fence about getting tight with people. She'd won the kicking job, but there were so many who'd left.

She stretched as she closed her locker, having changed into fitting blue jeans and a stylized ladies' Dragons' jersey. She'd let her hair down and applied some makeup, figuring it would be best to put forth a good public face.

She wheeled her car towards the gated community, seeing the other group make their way towards the townhouses and unlocked her own, throwing her practice bag down. She took a deep breath and smiled, reminding herself that it might benefit her a bit to be friendly. She'd earned the moniker of "Ice Queen" for being cold on the field...not off of it. She sighed and made her way outside to her front steps. Sitting there for a bit, waiting to see what everyone else was planning to do.

"Great," said Ben, having a look around and dumping his gear upstairs.

"Do you want to eat before we go out? I can do some burgers and salad if you like. Or would you prefer some pasta?"

Ben enjoyed cooking. Nothing fancy, just healthy fresh stuff, but he liked fending for himself.

Bethany was dropped off near her place, and she gave Adam a nod.  "If you don't hear from me in half an hour, assume I found my way over there in some other way," Bethany said to the man.  "Thanks for the lift".  Her bags in tow, she made her way over to her new place, at least for the time being.  She spotted Kat out on the front steps.  She made a casual wave to Kat and spoke as she approached.

"Hi there.  I'm Bethany.  They said I'd be sharing the space with you," she said to Kat.  She assumed that was Kat, but that wasn't really hard to guess.  There weren't a lot of women on the team.  She offered Kat a free hand.

Kat looked up as Bethany approached and greeted her. She gave the newcomer a small smile and firmly took the woman's hand. She had a strong grip. Kat approved.

"Pleasure to meet you, and that sounds about right. There's only a few of us who are players."

She chuckled and looked out into the community.

"You're in for the long haul, right?"

"That's the plan," Bethany responded to Kat, releasing the woman's hand.  "Though we haven't had full day of practice yet.  It took awhile to get used to the difference between high school and college ball, so it'll probably take a couple practices to get used to this jump," the woman added.  "But, I've got no intent on going anywhere if I can avoid it".

The woman shifted her bag over to her left shoulder.  "You said only a few.  There others on the team currently who are women?" she asked.  She hadn't heard of any currently playing, but she could be wrong.

Once Lucas had been dropped off at his place, he made a quick walk through and decided that the upper level suited his needs versus the lower level.  Being one who kept to himself for the most part, he'd build an entertainment unit so that way whoever lived on the first floor could have the living room for themselves.

He took a quick shower, dressed in a black dress shirt and matching soft cotton slacks.  His simple dress shoes he slipped into rather easily as he made his way out the front door to get a walk around and feel for the place.  One thing he already noticed...not too many shabby looking females for him to look at either.  With the warmer weather...also came a lot of scantily clad bodies.  His trip here seemed as if it would be better than working at the factory in town.

  Adam shook his head, Nope, Gonna  eat at the club, we'll be eating more dinners  and such here then we care to think about in the future, might  as well  get someone else to cook.

  Changing to  a differant Pull over  collared  shit, this one Dragon Green, and a pair  of  jeans  with white sneakers. He looked at the clock, Got a few hours....

  He Opened   a folded  and looked over the  Dics, popping one In, he pulled a set of Notbooks ( most look well worn) from the  cabnet and click the Video as he watched, ..This  guy is Gearhart...old Jag...didn't seem tom likie the  way the Dragons were going...he and I had a few run-ins..see here?  He is slow  coming out of his cuts.... and there?..any ball over his ehad, he reaches for..but he is peeking for the saftey...Cost Steele two pics, because  balls went through his hand  and the saftey was waiting on it.... Sims  Traded him to the Cowboys  for a 4th round choice...I wouldn't have given any more the a 6th....

 The Dics  Adam had  was  all the Old  Jag Recievers..he made nots  on which team ...if any...they were playing on now...This Guy?  The Tall Black guy?  La Roi Givens...2nd  round pick 2 years ago...bad  hands...doesn't like to go over the Middle...and  Blocks  like  a school girl...the only reson he's  still on the team...at least, that i can figure..is  he is  6'5"..he is starting to come along..but...I dunno...we get another tall reciever  who can catch?  he's gone....

"All right, then."

Ben settled to watch Adam's films, listening in fascination to his commentary.

"You know a lot about the people... me, I've studied techniques, the game, but not so much individual players."

  Adam Nods, read a book when i was a  Kid..Jhonny Sampole of the New York Jets..confessions of a Dirt Ballplayer....he made a log  of every wide reciever he played against....I take it one step further...I added WRs  to  my DBs... In case i get to play the other side of the ball , like I did for BC...besides...You can't hide anything in the films...if you try, you'er not  playing your best...You see the Things  guys  like Gearhart and Givens  do wrong...you see  some of the better players, what they do right..and you try to add that to your game..I have disc with the  good ones on...Rice, LArgent, Alwoth, Maynard...can learn alot just by watching...like..something as simple  as Dropping your inside shoulder whne you slant in, tso the DB  cvan't  get his hands into your chest..that can get you another  foot or so speration..and a foot in The NFL is  like  a mile...well...if your  QB  can sling  it in there....

Ben nodded.

"Well, I'm always eager to learn more..."

  He pops  out that Vid, and  selects the  One entilted #1s...he hits  the search and the scenes  go by very quickly,  but  Adam stops at one..backs  up a few  frames  and  runs it in slow,Ben Sees  a  tall reciever witha Powerblue Jeresy on, the number 19. The Man  Glides through the Middle, Leaping High to pull balls  down, taking  hits , yet just Goes back to the Huddle, no matter how  good the hit, no matter how great the catch,..Lance Alworth.. If the Jets  could  have had him with Namath?  TGhey would have   won more then one Superbowl.... His concentration is off the charts....I can do that...I can jump  as High as I can. but his height and reach is out of  my league...and? I can't keep my mouth shut..'course...it helps that i do it all the time....its when you change  what you do..that the defense  picks up, that they are getting into your head...

 He searches   some More. an Number  80 ina seahawk's  Uniform was catching the ball...this Guy? ran the routes to the inch!..But the main thing...he was a blocker as well as a Reciever..and he had a Long Memory..see this PLay...Atwater knocks him out of the  game with a late hit..celebtated..the whole thing..now..watch this clip...this is a few weeks later, when they played Denver again...  Atwater intercepted a Seahawks' pass then tried to wind his  way through the Offense  for a return...as he neared the sideline..a Jersey with the Number 80 Flashed across the street, delivering a Vicious  hit, that sent  Atwater  into the  players and Tables...Atwater missed the rest of the  game. Bronk Grinned,..had to do that in my first practice here...But its worth your weight in respect...if you can take a hjit  without  whining...and  can Give a hit  without dancing? They know you'er for real...

 Looking up at the clock, he says,well?  about that time...no one else  has called  yet, we'll wait  another 5 mimutes and then go,

"Fascinating..." It's clear Ben is not being polite. Next best thing to playing 'ball is studying it... :)

"I'll just get ready then," said Ben. He went upstairs and found a plain dark blue dress shirt and a pair of dark blue jeans. Black shoes, and a linen jacket. He checked he'd got his wallet, then came back down.

"Ready when you are."

Kat smiled at the woman's answer.

"Good, we're going to need all the help we can get. And it won't hurt to have another lady to share the experience with."

Kat stretched lithely as Bethany asked about any other female players. Kat shrugged.

"We had a QB show up to try-outs in the spring. Feisty girl by the name of Joanna Black. She was alright, but her golden arm wasn't NFL caliber. She didn't make the cut. Which is why I asked if you intended to be around longer. No offense meant."

Kat shrugged, she was done walking a tight rope when it came to people.

"So what's the plan for tonight then?"

"None taken.  Takes more than that to offend me," Bethany responded to the woman's question.  "Suppose that's up to me and how the coaches view me though, so we'll see what the preseason brings," she added casually.  A nod was given with regards to the quarterback.  Someone who was here, but gone now.

"Plan is for this club.  Rising Son I think was the name of it.  I've got to get changed for the place, from what I understand.  I don't suppose I can get a ride from you if you're planning on going tonight?" the woman questioned.  "I'm still trying to figure out where everything is around here".

  Adam relucantly, shuts  down the TV  and  carefully puts the dics and  notebooks away...Off we go then, If  any one calls my cell, I'll come back for them...

 They leave the   Townhouse  and hop in the Neon, Driving down  and out the   Stadium parking lot, a mile or  so down the road. The  Club  wasn't hard to see. a Lareg  red Building with  half of a yellow sun on the roof.curving around the sun was the word  'rising'...and in the Sun was the word 'son'.

 On front of the Building , was the stlized Dragon, like the one on the Helmets of the players.

Celeste took a jog from the stadium to the place she would be calling home from this point forward.  It was better than some of the more costlier condo's in town, plus, you could decorate it in your own style in a sophisticated manner that is.

As she made her way around she seen Adam and Ben make their way to his car and even a couple more of the players hanging out on the front porch.  She gave them a friendly nod as she approached her own stoop.

  Adam stoped at he dar door, Going to the club tonight?  I don't think Alexia  is gonna be there..saw her  drive off in a limo not long after  we started thorwing around...

Having showered and changed, he took one last look around the crib taking in a few more mental notes.  He walked out the door and looked up and down the street seeing who was here and who'd already left.  He seen the two he'd rode in with and nodded when they past.  Looking up the street, he noticed the female from earlier and another.

Two females on the squad, he thought to himself.  Interesting.

Deciding it was a good evening to walk, he made his way in the direction to pass the females chatting on the steps and then onward to the restaurant.

"I wasn't planning on going anywhere special, but if you want to go, I'll gladly accompany...and drive."

Kat looked down at her rather spiffed out attire, and then whirled her car keys in her hand. Truth was, she had been planning on getting out and about in the city, but now she had some place specific to go.

Could be fun? She smiled at Bethany.

"I'll wait here while you get ready. It's a very nice evening."

"Thanks.  I won't take too long.  Give me twenty minutes," Bethany said.  She then went inside and set her bag down in whichever bedroom wasn't occupied before she went through it.  She found herself a pair of nice khaki pants and a black sleeveless turtleneck.  She set the clothing out and proceeded to take a quick shower before she got dressed and applied some light makeup.

Once she finished, she returned with a small black purse slung over her shoulder.  She'd also let her hair down a little bit more, though her hair wasn't that long, all things considered.  "Ready when you are," she said to Katelyn.

Kat grinned as Bethany re-emerged from the house. She gave a yank to the front door, making sure it was locked before unlocking her Mustang with a chirp. She winked at Bethany before hopping into the driver's seat, and blasting music as she pulled out of the driveway.

They were on their way to the Rising Son!

Having opened up the door, made herself at home and showered to get dressed for the evening, Celeste left her house and made her way in a nice satin blue dress and heels to the club.  She wasn't trying to impress any one or sway eyes, but this was the only nice not uniformish outfit that she didn't have.  She'd have to thank her mother for packing her suitcase later.

Lucas had made a good trek around the campus and began to head down the street towards the restaurant that Adam spoke of.  Lucas recalled seeing it on his way here.

He was anxious as to who he would be seeing once he arrived.
