Lindsey's eyes lit up at the choices of toppings. "Oh, that all sounds so yummy. So hard. Let's go with the... cherries!" She nodded for emphasis. "I don't understand. How can they deny your cheer squad access to the sideline? Even if the NFL didn't have something to say about that, it's so petty. I'll be sure to make a note about that in my reporting." She looked off for a second, then shook her head. "I can't even wrap my mind around that."

Setting her plate aside, she placed a napkin in front of her and set her fork and spoon on it neatly.

"You kind of set up some big expectations of this cheesecake. I'm excited to try it." She leaned forward, clasping her hands together on the table. "Did I hear right, that Yuto is your best friend? Tell me about that relationship. I mean, he's the general manager of the team. Friends usually have more between them than a single common interest. How else do you interact?" She stopped. Thought. Closed her eyes as she shook her head. "I know. It sounds like an interview question, but I'm truly curious."

    I hate graham crackers?.. so i get the crustless.. soooo smooth.. doesn't matter  what topping you put on it.

  I don't know how much  you have heard. But  at melon i needed to worth, study and practice... I mean?  I'm not  a  Genius . but  I'm not a dummy either. I did need help in
 math  though... because i was  coming and going and watching films, i had  trouble
 keeping roommates. Yuto had  guys  take  advantage , because  he was  rich?..and  some even Bullied him...I managed to beat a guy up prety god when i saw him shaking down Yuto in the
  Drom... Security came,  we told  out story, the  beat up guy told his story  when he woke up... The College    stick  poor Yuto in with me after that.

 It worked  well.. i taught him how to street fight..he helped me with  my Math..and  suddenly, he wanted to play football... Mr Amota  was as pleased as could be, at this turn of events..and  soon, he was  throwing money at thr program..Yuto did  well, he isn't as  mean as  I am, but he  learned  how to Block.. we spent  hours throwing the ball so he could catch it like he had been doing it  for years... That  Pic  out in the Hall?..That's Yuto's  favorite Memory..I kinda like it too... mellon U had  us come there to practice, when the Giants wouldn't let us on the field because they 'had to clear the snow'.. we practiced
 at Mellon and the Unveiled the  entrance to the new  sports Complex.. men on one side pf the Doors.  Yuto on the  other side..with the  ball flying in the Middle.... great Complex..mellon can host  College  swim meets now and  they added an indorr track team

 LU-TI  entered the picture as well. ended up in Gymastics  and cheerleader..  I got  some better  jobs  down town working in food places, Now i can go there to eat.

 I think Mr Amota  and Yuto think it was a 'big thing' how Yuto turned out, and they ;like the  pat me on the back.... but you know what?... there is  none of me, in Yuto, that can pull off being a GM...

"Sounds like Yuto has a lot of heart. And - at the risk of being accused of sucking up - I'll add noble to your list of positive attributes." She laughed. "I imagine you have a dark side somewhere under all that white armor. I'll see how convincing you are as a bad boy when I watch your head to head."

Lindsey paused when the cheesecake and coffee arrived, pulling her hands away so the waitress could set the dish in front of her. After waiting for the waitress to leave, she cut a small piece with the edge of her fork. "Drum roll please." She smiled. After placing the morsel on her tongue, her eyes fluttered as she pulled the fork through her lips. "Mm-mh. Heavenly." She shook with a jolt of excitement. "Well worth the wait." She cut off another piece, gathering more of the cherry this time and leaning in to get it into her mouth before it could drip.

"So," She stirred some creamer and two packs of Sweet N Low into her coffee before sipping it. "Cindy and Steele. How long has that been simmering?"

 pointing at the Back need of  his cheesecake,  Once you have eaten this with out that goofy crust, you'll never want to eat cheese  cake another way

 he   sipped his coffee.. 2 sugars  and enough milk to change color.

 yeah?  Don't  put  me in white armor.... when I hit  guys, i want to hurt them...i mean..not hospital hurt...  Imean ' 'Ouch!"..and   i want them to know that every time i have a chance to block some one... they are getting hit hard... None of the  'pullign up' because  you can't make the Play...and?  it  feeds on itself.. Guys start looking for me from their blindside... or they slow down a step when the  see  me locked in?... With the backs  we have? that one or two step difference  , helps them turn the corner.

 There's some guys  to talk to, Our backs. we pass  90 % of the time, so they are  either safety valves, or blocking...never complain, just do thier jobs, because they know they'll reap the  benefits  when the team bonuses  are handed out at the end of teh season...

 he got a  sort of Bummed out look,Steele's  a head case..maybe, the only one we have.. he and Ben  are the only guys  drafted besides White..Coach used  draft picks and Jags players  to trade for   some of the guys we have now...the rest, are all Free agents. a shrug as he  cut a bit of  cheesecake,he started out good in came..but all that press went to his head..he  has  issues with Ladies  though... Mr Amota had to call ,to take care of some stupid  stuff.... I don't know what  Cindy's Game is...but  Steele isn't  taking her to dinner to eat.....Steele does  something stupid, he won't be a  dragon....If  Cindy does  something stupid, well?...9i don't know  how   the   Company works.

Lindsey gave him a sidelong stare. "Cindy is not stupid and they definitely left together. I don't know what you mean by that, but whatever's going on between them, it's mutual." She shrugged. "I'll call her tomorrow and see what's up. But..." she pointed at him. "You shot him a little smirk. You know more than you're saying. Spill it."

  he shook his head,he shot me a smirk..i gave him a head shake..he all but laughed... He's a dog... Mik might take a different Dragonette out, but he's up front about it..Steele, believes his own Press clippings....

cutting  another bit, he says...I wasn't here for the draft..I was in Hamilton..but i read the magazines, watched the shows... Steele , the big dog out of   Michigan State...Sims drafted him  to learn from Duke... Giants   wanted to draft him, offered    Sims  3 picks for the first rounder.. I think coach drafted him, just to screw the Giants..anyway? they're
 big boy and Girl... I just don't like to see folks taking advantage of some one.

 sipping the coffee,it just might be  my  street level naivete , Don't  really know the DI rules for  chicks and guys,

Lindsey shrugged. "Okay. Like you said, they're adults. I know Cindy and I'm sure she knows what she's getting into. If she didn't, she wouldn't have asked me to find a ride. But, I don't think there are different rules for guys and girls in DI or DIII or anywhere else. We all operate under the same rules. And... You're going to have to explain street level naivete. That doesn't really sound like a thing." She laughed. "I might have to take that back. I think you operate under different rules.... or at least a totally different perspective."

Lindsey looked deep in though as she ate the rest of her cheesecake and drank her coffee. The moment seemed a bit surreal. She wasn't sure why. She was enjoying the conversation, the food was good, but somehow strange as well. In some ways Adam was very understandable. In others, he was very confusing. She was sure she'd figure him out over time, but right now he was a swirl of paradoxes. He probably liked it that way.

"So, Adam Bronk, what else can we talk about?"

"Of course, beloved. What would you like? And do you want a dessert?"

Ben ordered a beer for himself. If he wasn't driving he could let his hair down a little.

 Lu-Ti  asked  of a   small sundae , made with sherbet  and a  class of   wine to  go with it. It is  something that  they could  make easy  since they   made Shakes for certain players  how asked for them.

  Adam  gave a  shrug as he finished the last of his cheesecake.well?  covered   everything I know, I'm not a man of the world? so my subjects are  a bit  limited.

 what about  from your end?  what  would you like to take about.

Lindsey's head bounced as she thought about it. Football, and specifically Dragons football had dominated the conversation. It wasn't surprising , but she as on information overload on that topic. She thought maybe she could get to know Adam a bit better on a personal level. She tried earlier, but of course the topic shifted back to football. She would try again.

"So, about myself, I have lived in Jacksonville my whole life. My parents, my grandparents, and my great grandparents are here. I have older and younger brothers. We're all within like two years of each other. My father and older brother are both attorneys, my mother is a bank manager, and my younger brother is... he's still finding his way. My best friend, Sage, she just moved to Atlanta. She's going for the acting thing. She got a part playing a friend to the lead actress in a Hallmark movie. We're all so proud of her." She paused. "Feel free to stop me if this is not interesting to you." She waited for his response, but he was probably too polite to say anything even if didn't care. "My whole family, all three generations of us are huge football fans. Superbowl Sunday is doubles as a huge family get together. I'm hoping this Superbowl I'll be on the sidelines." She pointed at Adam with a mock serious expression and semi-serious sounding tone. "Don't let me down, Adam Bronk." Then she gave him a quirky half smirk as she wagged her finger. "When I'm not working or telling my life story to a football star over cheesecake, I play guitar and sing to myself, read crime novels, and lament that Game of Thrones had to end. You can find me running at 6:00 AM and in Planet Fitness 3 days a week. And since I broke up with my boyfriend, I've been wasting way too many hours swiping through dating apps." She covered her mouth, looking genuinely annoyed with herself. "Uh, please strike that last remark."

Lindsey paused, watching him with raised eyebrows and an expectant bite of her lip.

"What do you think? Can I sell my story to Lifetime Originals?"

 he chuckles,well...once you get in front of the Camera, you better lose those  dating apps.. you get all kinds of whack jobs  who fall in love  with the Hot chick on TV...

  You  had  a more  tight knit   upbringing... I was  an Only  child..probably a mistake?.. Dad went off  some where.. send a few dollars for about a year, then we never heard from him... Mom, was almost as bad, i had to work while in Highschool..Coaches made sure  those jobs were close to school so i could still practice and work..I slept  in the Locker  rom alot, to try to get the Homework done o the coach's  Computer...

 I used to Vigilante bullies  , picking on  little kids..Until the Caoches  had a long talk with me..., had to find other way to  make sure they  wouldn't  do it again.

 There has to be some uncles or aunts..maybe a stray cousin? No one  claimed me... Those guys  i told you , whose Mom has the   biner?.. they were as close  as family  as i had....

"Hm." Lindsey responded to Adam's comment about her being on dating apps. "Somehow I didn't think about that. Dating is such a pain." She rolled her eyes. "I'm going to have to get used to being in the public eye. I'm going to have to be a bit more discerning about who I encourage. I should ask Cindy how she deals with it. I mean aside from just hooking up with players."

"Sounds like you had everything against you, but you made it happen anyway. But all those theoretical other relatives, have any tried to contact you since you've been in the public eye? Bronk isn't exactly a common name. If they existed, you'd think at least one of them would want you to claim them. And if he's still alive, I'd think that your father might want to reconnect now. Unless of course, he has a conscience and thinks you wouldn't have anything to do with him. I'm sorry, I'm just pontificating."

"Yes, please." Lindsey nodded to another cup of coffee.

"So, are you planning on quitting football for acting? Realistically, your football career has just started. I think you have quite a few years before you have to start looking for other work. how old are you, Adam?"

 Adam chuckled   good  natured  for  about  3 minutes. The Waitress came over , looking at the two as she set  fresh coffee  cups down.. He   just waved her   off with a  smile and she  went away with her own  smile.

 Oh wow... That caught me by surprise... No?   They'll have to carry me out of the Game...if  i flame out here. I might just go back to the CFL.... I just meant the Acting thing would be a good side  bar?   

 taking a drink of his coffee.This acting thing..right now?... was a perfect  Storm  of Linda coming out... Lana getting caught, and someone knew  i Liked Sci Fi.... The Guy who plays Captain Lighting? was  shocked  when  we did that bit at Thanksgiving, when i threw out all the right words and  acting  in all the right  way, as a   Pilot would?  One of three things is gonna happen here... 1.... We keep rollign like this  and  I keep making plays..and  i become a hot  enough name, that  The league starts to  polish my star , rather then try and smother it.....2....We start to fall apart, and  people like me become the subjects  for the NFL  series 'Rebels and  Heroes"..or... I become a 'solid player'... and  have  outlived my usefulness here, and other teams  try to sign me...

"We're the same age, and it looks like we're pretty much in the same place career-wise. You're a little ahead of me on name recognition though."

"I wonder," Lindsey sipped her fresh coffee. "If I go get a bunch of those cards based on what you just told me, does it count as insider trading?" She laughed. "My younger brother probably already has them all anyway, but if I did get some, would you sign them? Sorry for being such a fan girl. We all hove our geek out moments. I promise to be back to my normal dignified self in no time."

"I actually did toy with the idea of going into the performing arts. I did have an opportunity to audition for a tele-novella that was filming in Miami. My Spanish is pretty good, but they were looking for someone to play an American. I decided against it. If I got the role, it would have derailed what I knew I really wanted to do, and if I didn't get the role I was afraid my competitive spirit would have kicked in and I would have tried again until I got one. I need to be successful here before I do anything else. Maybe Yuto will let me sing one night. What kind of music do you listen to? I'm a rocker chick at heart, but I can also sing ballads, pop and even Latin. I guess I can sing almost anything if I really wanted to but my heart is in rock and roll."

 I like a bit of everything, but i realy don't  like Country, or  most rap..Indie stuff is god..you'll hear  us singing some of it  at parties  and such..

"Victory songs. Do you have any ideas? It seems there haven't been any good ones written since the 80's." Lindsey set her coffee cup aside. "I can always sing We are the Champions. Like that's not been done ever." She laughed. "But I suppose it's required at all victory parties."

"Thank you." She smiled, appreciative of him agreeing to sign the cards. "So, do I fall under the category of wildly pumped up adult. I admit. I'm pretty excited about everything. I hope I'm not keeping you. You said you wanted to watch game films tonight. Instead you're here indulging my silly questions. What time is the practice tomorrow?"

 Tuesdays, is Mostly  meetings.. I get to show off  in the   meeting telling them what i saw..most times, the coaches  saw it all too.. sometimes i  find a 'tell' or a  exploit..the rest is just getting them to  try to beat me  up  while  we  keep the   scoreboard  spinning like a one arm bandit.

 Mondays are free days... players  come in to get checked if they need it... we go out on endorsements.. I go with the   Dragonettes to Amota Kids.. to had  out goodies and Visit....you want to feel Humble? You go in there  and see a wrung out  mom or dad, get
 tear-eyed, because some football smuck gives thier sick kid a  Hug and a stuffed  Jackie the Dragon..then You  see them flat out break down, when you hand.... them a T-shirt, and Give THEM a hug, you tell them..how special..THEY  are, for  being there  for thier Kid.... he's quiet for a  space, looking to an empty cup of coffee, as if  to seek an answer...

 Most of the Dragons do  stuff, because we're supposed to... and, yeah? it might  bring you a few  bucks in endorsements down the road....but, you see thse  kids..right?... and you  go back the next week, and some of them aren't there... and the Nurses  give you that look...

 Lissy Dragon came from there......Amotas  bring   some to the game  who are allowed   around crowds..they get to sit in the owner's box..bigest moment of their lives...

 he smiles a bit awkwardly....Mrs Simms  said, I like being a dragon..because   Jacksonvillie and I bothwere ignored  and laughed  at...if that's true, then  we're  both  rising up.. hittign back at Houstons, and Dallas, and Miami.... you?  right now?.... You're not  going to be covering a season... you are covering a  crusade...

 he shook his head  , how far he when down a side  road...anyway... meeting last till 11:00..we have   an hour lunch, in the Gragon's  den... we have  some  more  film  from 12:00 until 1:00... then we hit the field , loosen up,  , position skills,  Team skills, ..and whatever the Coach wants us  to do... practice ends  at 3:00 with us having to run a Mle before  we leave the field.

Lindsey took a mental note. She would definitely have to do a piece on the Children's Hospital.

"Okay, it sounds like I need to be there before one, which gives me the morning to prep and run some errands." She checked the time. "Your curfew is at 11:30. Not that I'm in a rush to leave. I'm having a wonderful time, but With dropping me at my car, are you going to make it? I'd hate to be the one to get you into trouble with the Coach."

Ben watched Lu-Ti relish her concoction as he sipped at his beer.

"I'll call Kaleem now, it might take him a few minutes to get here."

He placed a call to the taxi driver, asking if he'd be available to take them back to the town houses in about 15-20 minutes.

  Adam stands  a, the waitress hurried  over, he held His hand out for the Bill.

  Young Mr Amota  said,  you did not have to  Pay, Mr. Bronk. she smield a bit.

Adam frowned,first?   It's Adam, yiu should know  me by now..right?

 she giggled and nodded her head   quickly, pony tail bouncing around.

  Adam   nodded a bit, he     reached in his  pocked ,  pulling out  some  Bills, thumbing through it and HAnded her  5  20s.

Bronk reached over and  tucked it in her Apron...I used to work tables, You have been great... That's not paying  for the   meal, That's a Tip. You think its too much? share it with   the cook...

 he offered his HAnd   for Lindsey to stand... as the waitress  smiled and   began to clear the deserts.If there is one guy on this  team that could get away with  pushing the envelope  on curfew, its me.. I know that, everyone knows that..... BUT... for that very reason, I try  not to break rules, and  Put Coach in the position to have  to   implement punishment....

  they walked out  down the Hall.. he stopped and Pointed at Yuto in the picture, then the  Football that was  some 2 yards away. and the DB   on his  knees looking up. You dig up  file footage on this... Yuto  didn';t  just get 'left alone'..  he  ran  in, and faked a slant, when he  curled  to the outside, front corner?  The DB  slipped and fell..easiest, and maybe , most important throw i ever made... I have to believe that DB has  nightmares about that... the  catch that won the DIII  Title game.

They walked out of the  Club,  fans cheering  Adam waving..  people took pics of them. Adam  introduced her to a newspaper  Guy who was taking Pics..This  is  Sam...Tamp Bay Herald, for some reason they send up here all the time... Sam? This  Is Lindsey, she's  the New  Dragon Beat Reporter...

 The Older guy offered his  hand  a people     crowed around, behind the  satin  ropes  to wave to take pics.well, Lindsey?  I hope  you have  a good time... you have to watch out for this guy though... he'll give   the press a damn hard  time in post game pressers! Sam Grins

   Adam   smirks,only the  folks who ask dumbassed questions, Sam. We gotta go, Cindy left her with out a Ride, and Curfew is sneakign up on me...

  For  Ben, the call was answered  quickly,Yes, yes  , I   will be there in  10 minutes, I am near  the Mall right now.... I will  wait at the taxi  area  at the Club.

Lindsey took Adam's hand,sliding sideways from the booth and letting him help pull her up to stand. "Thank you, sir." She smiled at his chivalry. She wasn't expecting that, but she could have given her impression from their conversation.

Walking out of the club, she was not prepared for the wall of fans taking pictures. Her walking out next to him like that, they might as well have been holding hands. This wasn't how she thought her first time in front of the camera would go and there was a 100% chance the rumor mill would churn out speculation as to the nature of the relationship between Lindsey Garrett and Adam Bronk. She knew full well how it looked, but it was too late do anything but put on a bright smile and look natural.

Adam either had no idea how the two of them exiting together like that looked or he didn't care. He just walked up to a someone and introduced her.

"Hi, nice to meet you." She took his handshake, thankful for the distraction. "Thanks. So far this has been great, if a little unexpected. I'm hoping I can do as well as Cindy did." She looked at Adam as Sam issued his warning. "Yeah, that's what I've heard. But so far he's been pretty forthcoming. No doubt 'the Bomb' will more of a challenge though." She waved goodbye as Adam dragged her off.

If she would have tried to guess, she would have been right about Adam having a modest car. Of course it was green for the Dragons, but it was also her favorite color. She thanked him as he held the door for her, but she knew that there were still at least a couple cameras trained on them. When the car door closed, Lindsey was never so glad to be out of the view of camera lenses. When Adam got into the driver's seat she looked over at him.

"You do realize, don't you, how that looked? Half those pictures will be on the internet tomorrow declaring us as a couple."

  Adam    looked thoughtful , for a Moment, then Gave a shrug... I'll Text   Linda when i get home..I mean?  I have seen her  on ' Entertaiment today'  eating dinner  with some guy from  that  Spy Movie she's in, and of course , all the  Captain Lighting  folk. So I'm sure she'll understand? if not..well? I cannot  help that. as he pulled out of the Lot he gave a beep to  fans waving madly and turned onto the  free way, to 'fast track' to the studio.

  Seeing that you mentioned it, I hope  it is  not  something you regret...if
 it is something, you feel will hurt your career..you let me know  and I'll make certain to keep my distance  and  try  still try to be there  for  the 'big interview' when needed.

There was nothing  hidden going on, we didn't try and sneak out,there are  Players  , Like Ben  knew you needed  a Ride. and we talked to Sam? Sam..well..he would be one of the first to try to feed the Gossip Machine, I took that from him...will other Gossip  folks  take up the  gauntlet? You bet, the trick is..not to  give them  ammunition ...besides?  You'll meet Linda  at the GAme  Sunday, if she has issues, she'll pull you aside  and say something? I don't foresee that  though...For My part? This has   been one of the More relaxing  evenings  I have had as a dragon, when it comes to events like this. I enjoyed myself... can't ever remember saying that to a reporter before...

Adam handled that exactly the way she thought he would. Which was a relief in a way, but worrisome in others. He seemed confident the fallout was manageable, but his time in the spotlight wasn't much longer than Lindsey's. He actually did have a naivete about his attitude, especially when it came to life in the public eye, and probably where his own girlfriend was concerned. Linda was from Hollywood. Though she may not be like others in Hollywood, she was certainly immersed in a culture of infidelity and where people swap partners with their wardrobes. Lindsey wasn't going to bring that up. All it could possibly do is fuel concerns that may end up being unwarranted. Adam knew Linda better than she did and it was his to manage.

As they pulled through the parking lot, Lindsey followed Adam's lead, throwing occasional finger waves at the fans. They weren't there for her, but she wasn't going to throw fuel on the fire by acting like a co-ed being escorted through the boys dormitory. Smiling and waving might be almost as bad as covering her face or a bashful turn of head, but she would take whatever she could get.

"Nope." She answered curtly and without hesitation. "I don't regret it all. No one's career is going to be hurt by rumors, or even a relationship. It's just that I didn't want to be the cause of any trouble between you and your girlfriend. Telling her in advance would be exactly the right thing to do. I can't imagine she would get upset over cheesecake. And for my part... I had a great time too. I'll count myself a very lucky reporter. Just be advised, Adam Bronk," She smirked, "the questions might be a bit tougher when I'm actually being a reporter."

    They drove  down the  rode.  Adam heard the Muted  song on the radio and  turned it   up slightly...I like this song... used  it  at some pregame parties
