 Billie got them there extremely fast; she was good that's for sure. When they got close NA-CE saw the wreckage, she got out with her gear and said," Where is the wounded, lets see what we got here." NA-Ce then checked out Lyri to see how bad it was.

Roy had just taken the corner when he saw the van take the hit.  Expletives rained from his mouth in a torrent as he raised his rifle and started firing at the Sanri, stopping seconds later when Brivet's hover-van took her down.  He swung the rifle to his back and broke into a dead run for Lyri's van.

"Get them out!  Clear the van!"  He hadn't known who all was in the van with Lyri, but he knew she wasn't driving and trying to shoot at the same time.

As Lyri was pulled from the van, he started doing what he could to act as a field medic...years of experience and some additional training came into play, but the best he could hope for was to stabilize her while actual medical personnel were en route.  "Dammittall, Master Chief, you're pulling through, you hear me?" he said as he worked on her.  "I didn't drag your wounded ass out of the jungle on Delta Prime or do a tether-jump out of a shuttle in space to lose you because some shit-bag bad guy pulled the trigger half a second before I had line-of-sight on them."  He kept working until Na-Ce arrived, clearing out for her more professional and better equipped care.

He turned to Larry.  "If either of those two bastards are still alive, drag them over here," he instructed the larg, in a voice totally devoid of any warmth.  His limited supply of compassion had been spent on Lyri...there would be none left for any potential survivors.

As he waited for the larg's return, he got on comms again.  "Tell me we've got someone on the way to do a data recovery here," he said, his emotions still raw in his voice.  "They have been doing some godawful shit in this place, and we need to know what they've managed and where they've sent it."  It would be stupidly optimistic to think that everything they'd found had been prototypes and nothing of consequence had been sent, especially when Gresh's intel brief specifically mentioned that they'd intercepted shipments bound for Lady V's stronghold.  Odds were good that something had been sent to other locations, as well, and it would be naive to assume that they'd caught ALL of the shipments to Lady V.

He glanced over at Brivet's van, with their mark gasping out her last beneath the weight of it.  "Confirming the mark is down, along with damn near her entire staff at this point."  Bitterness, rather than satisfaction, colored his tone.

 Shade  had Lyri,  Magin was  carried out bu the other   iron Guards,

 Cross  waved  to  NA-CE...

 Shade  started  to walk with a purpose towards the mark..brivet still held the Sanri  down, the  smell of burnt  flesh  drifted   into the Night.


 larry  came   back.. the human was  shot to bits... the other   Sanri  was   all over  larry';s teeth.

Henry commenced searching for any records that he could find.

  Shade reached the   struggling Sanri.. he  opened   one of the  belt  pouched   slicing off a  sliver  of C-10.. then attached a  contact, he   rolled it into a  straw..

  Looking at the San,who could only use the top two arms  to   hold back the  Van..for whatever   heart beats  there  would be,,. Shde   drove his trench knife  into  the  collar  bone  area.. the one arm  trying to reach  and   stop him but the van almost came  down..The  Sanri looked  in horror  as   Shade   jammed the  C-10  straw into the   wound.. tapping it in  with his  trench knife's hilt.

 The he show her the trigger,, and    place it on her  chest , under the  t the Van.. he   waved  to Brivet and walked off  towards  the  wounded,

 The Sanri  screamed and Cried. With  pain, fear and desperation...I CAN HELP YOU!..PLEASE...I CAN HELP...

 the van came  down ..Brivet  didn't use the thrusters.. she  just let the weight of the van press the   tires , wounded   Sanri's arms   down.. she screamed and pleaded   and cried...

 NA-CE headed towards Lyri, she went to work stabilizing and sealing any wounds and deciding how bad Lyri is and if she needed to be evacuated immediately or not. NA-CE did everything she could to keep Lyri alive and to get her back to the Condo.

 NA-CE set and took care of Lyri's broken arm and then treated the burns on her legs. NA-CE also treated Maygin's legs and arm for burns as well. Once she did everything she could do here NA-CE said," Ok they can travel, lets get them to the Condo."

   The Baid aids   unit  helped  get the   Aboard,  Lyri  called out  to Roy....ROY!!!..MY RIFLE!!!!

 the van was  burning  hot now. it would't belong  before the  power cell went, and  any ammo inside it

 Karson winced. there was no way to get the weapon out... the   Van  shattered  a moment  later...

Roy gestured to the team Lyri had come with.  "You load up and head back with them.  We've got our own way back.  I want to stay on top of things here until we get data recovery on site...last thing we need is some EDT dickhead sneaking in here and burning our evidence trail."

Then Lyri called out for her rifle, and Roy looked over at the van.  A sniper's rifle was like a loved one...but it could be replaced.  The man they would lose trying to retrieve it couldn't.  And a second later, the van made the decision for him.

He had plenty of spares...she could take her pick as a replacement.  "Saddle up," he said to Cross.  It was going to be a painful ride back...

   for the first time , anyone has seen her..Lyri  cried.. the rifle was gone..the rifle she had  when  she and  LT  Si  picked  LT  Shadow  up on his run from Russia to the   Middle east.. the rifle that had  brought  down so many enemies. Had  died..

 Cross   looked pained  as he looked at Roy... The mark lost the  battle with  Gravity.. and  before  the  crushing weight of the van  could Kill her, the  C-10 straw blew a Big hole in her chest..eevn as she screamed,  the  weight of the   van  pushed down on her,  until  gore and  Fluids  shot out her eyes  nose  and  mouth...

  karson came walkign back from the  headless Sanri , that larry  stopped.. he had a chrome case...its locked... we can try to open it somewhere else.

Roy stepped over to Cross, putting a hand on his shoulder.  "Go back with her.  We've got room for the rest of us in Brivet's van, take your people and make sure they get back safe.  We'll keep a lid on things here until retrieval shows up."

He looked at Karson, and jerked his head in Cross' direction.  "Give him the case, they can open it back at the condo. We're waiting until the data grab team turns up."  He looked at Cross, then back at Karson, and thought about the wretched look on Henry's face when the larg/wort/whatever-else was getting mauled by Larry.

"Actually, belay that.  Karson, go find Doctor Christie.  Take him, Mila, and the case back.  I'll keep Cross and his people here to help keep interlopers out, and we'll catch up with you later."

 Billie  took the Bandiad  away , post haste. Brivet  had  her   van  , still on top the Sanri. Shade's  eye  were still black  . he sat by the  van wafting for gresh's  people.  Cross  and his   poepl spread out in twos,  grabbing creds and   searching the up stairs  of the building.

As they started spreading out, Roy directed, "Anyone you find on the grounds?  Detain, at a minimum.  If they show any signs of resistance, burn them down.  Nobody working on any of this stuff has the ethical sense to waste time negotiating with them...if they're just low-level lackeys, they won't know much, but they also won't have much incentive to do anything stupid and make trouble."  His voice was flat, emotionless...it was the only way he could keep functioning with the seething anger inside.

Lyri's injuries were trivial, by comparison...broken bones and burns healed readily enough, especially with the medical technology they had on hand.  Losing her rifle?  That would take a long time for her to recover from.  That rifle had seen her through some insane experiences...it had gone into the mouth of Hell with her and brought her back out.  With as many years as she had been using it, it was like another appendage in its familiarity.  And it was now so much scrap metal and ash in the burning hover van.  Even if they had extinguishers and could put out the fire to retrieve it, the heat of the van's power cells cooking off would have compromised the metallurgy of the receiver and barrel...it would never be the same.

She'd find another rifle...true snipers always did.  Rifles were tools and like all tools, they eventually wore out over time and either had to be rebuilt or replaced.  But that didn't change the emotional attachment that developed.  He'd just have to see what he could do to help her through it.

He looked over at Shade, and then looked down at the corpse beneath Brivet's van.  "You know that was a waste of good C10, right?" he asked.  It wasn't like there was any chance that even a Sanri was going to throw a hover van off their body.  If anything, Shade had done her a favor by making her demise quicker...

  Shade  bleeped  and  pantomimed the   actions  of  blowing out her   rm as the  van touched the trigger.. then.. as she was still in pain, the  van  crushing her..

 Brivet   stepped out of the Van and said...I think the   ambassador  wanted her to  feel hopeless, until she was  turned  into a toothpaste dispenser ... i do not  blame him...

 Vans dropped out of the  sky, the   Iron guard   had  weapons  pointed in the  air.  the people  how   got pout  had  sidearms, they were  dressed  as civis , but the carrier  themselves  like ESN..

  One Shot? we're the Movers.,, we'll take it  from here..where would be a good place to start...

Roy raised an eyebrow at Brivet's comment.  "I dunno...I think having someone park a hover-van on my chest would be pretty fuckin' hopeless..."  He looked up as vans started to arrive en masse, and nodded...Gresh might have his faults at collecting actionable intelligence before the action started, but he certainly didn't fool around at scouring the place for every available morsel after the wetwork was over.

He grinned inwardly at the Iron Guard brandishing their weapons...the thought was appreciated, and they would be a formidable group to have to get past, but if Gresh's people had decided to turn coat and come in heavy, it would have been a bloodbath on the ground.  Their leader introduced the group, if it could be called an introduction, and asked his question.  Roy just snorted softly.

"Pick your poison," he answered, then clarified, "Two of us took down the security monitoring station on the roof up there, but we didn't investigate the building on the way down, so no idea what's in there.  None of us went above the ground floor in that building, and what we saw of the ground floor was in pursuit of our mark, so we didn't really see much of it, either.  THAT building," and he gestured at the smallest of the three, "is nominally a residence, but we didn't poke around much there, either...our tracking team picked up the trail pretty quickly and we were in pursuit mode most of the time."

He shrugged, and added, "There's at least one subterranean tunnel connecting the residence to this building, and there's the remains of a few of the lab workers and probably some of the doctors, along with a few of their projects.  Dispose of the bodies, get DNA samples of the projects before you dispose of them, collect data from any computer you find.  You're likely to find a few more of their projects...most of them weren't viable.  It looked like, rather than working on cracking the genetic compatibility issues first, they just started working by trial and error while they were trying to break the genetic puzzle.  But don't go anywhere individually, and have your weapons ready...we ran into some shit that would have been an absolute nightmare if we didn't have a very determined and battle-hardened larg running point for us, and you're gonna want more than one gun if the ones we dealt with weren't one-offs."

Mila was tugging on Her Human's sleeve. He still looked a bit dazed.

 The Commander of the Movers   gave s  thin lipped  smile, he called  for a  refrigerator  truck.

 after the COM he said.we'll burn whats   not worth the Lab  Coats  time, the  ret wil get senht to theb Tech Ships to see  what they were doing... I'm not an egg head, I shoot things for a living, so I'll let  those with the  papers handing on their offcie walls, figure that out.

Roy nodded.  "When in doubt, save it if you can...but not at significant risk of life.  I'm sure that will all make sense when you get inside and start to see what we're talking about."

He let out a piercing whistle and gestured for his people to rally at the hover van.  "Let's get the he'll outta here, Brivet," he said to the pilot, before giving the head of the Mover team a nod, and then turning to walk to the van.

  Brivet  Mounted Up, Shade  got into the Van ,his eyes  were   flowing between Grey and Black.  The Iron Guard  came sat down.. the Looked  at the  Blood   covered  larg with the  splashes of  colors   of man6y types of blood on him.

 Brivet called  back....4.. the female was wounded  and was set to the  Hermes, it had a Pup.. a female Pup..

 and then   the Van was off  to  the Hotel...
