Adventures in Mystara

My first foray into D&D was with Aleena and Bargle, and the giant snake. And ever since, I've had an abiding love of D&D. I want to run an old-fashioned game set in Mystara (in Penhaligon and its surrounding regions, initially) with site-based adventures with a focus on roleplay. I want to use the BECMI/ Rules Encyclopedia with a couple of slight house rules (of course).

So I was wondering, would there be some Grognards out there who would enjoy that sort of play - or people who would be up for that sort of a game? I'm really hoping there are people who want to invest in their characters, despite how frail they begin (I'd be starting characters off at level 2).

In my head, the campaign would be limited to a single site-based adventure initially, but I'd happily expand that out to another three or four with no issue if players maintained an interest. I do have a storyline that joins together these sites, and some inclination of further adventures. I guess I'm saying, there is scope to continue, but I'd like to focus on the immediate to begin with.

Anyway, if anyone is interested, I'd love to know! (Sorry for the ramble.)

Is this a basic D&D game?

If so, yes, count me in.

In reply to MrKinister (msg # 3):

Yes, D&D Basic, the Metzner edition, the Red Box (the one edition with the very best cover art). Where 'races' are classes and the Halfling is better at sneaking than the theif.

Yup, count me in.

I was running a game of Basic D&D about a year ago, but I had to stop it for life reasons.

I am also playing in a slow post game of Basic D&D, so I can afford one more.

I'd be interested as well.  Are you planning on stopping at the Basic level limit or going on to Expert as well?
