Interest Check: Dragonlance Fifth Age?
I've always been a Dragonlance fan and way back in the late 90s I had the Fifth Age rules using the SAGA system. I never actually got a chance to play it but I always thought it looked interesting and the period it covers (the early Age of Mortals between the Chaos War and the War of Souls) is interesting and flavourful.
The main issue with playing it is that it uses a system of cards that doesn't really translate to any online dice roller, and to add insult to injury the specialised cards are long out of print - even though you can buy the Fifth age books on DMGuild.
I've been mulling this over and was thinking of just using a pair of 1d10s to represent a card. In the game there are nine suits of cards (Shields, Arrows, Helms, Swords, Moons, Orbs, Hearts, Crowns & Dragons.) Each suit runs from one to nine so by rolling 1d10 for the suit and 1d10 for the number and rerolling 10s you'd get your card. For instance a '2' and a '7' would translate into a Two of Hearts.
I'm not sure if this would work well in practice but I'm definitely thinking it is worth a try. Firstly though I have to check if there is any actual interest in a game. I'd especially like to hear from Dragonlance fans and people who owned or played the Fifth Age rules back in the day.
