You move tactically into Room 15.

To your right (west) you see three more of the healing coffins fitted for Sathar (same as you saw on the ship earlier).

To the south is an open exit (no door). There is an automatic door to the east leading to 16. (Note that stepping near it will open it automatically.)

You are not sure what is in the small closet area in the northwest.

To the south, you see a round bathing tub. Inside the tub is a Sathar--naked--who seems surprised to see you but only freezes in place in shock at your sudden entry. What you notice about this Sathar is that it is smaller with slightly different features--perhaps your first glimpse of an adolescent, not an adult.


Thought I'd give you a crude visual.

Vadim seems a bit surprised as well as he thinks about why a juvenile Sathar would be in a military outpost.  He manages to semi-articulate his thoughts to the others, "It might not be suicide conditioned, capture it."

Moving forward he trusts his poly-vox to convey, "Surrender, don't move..."  If it makes a move to resist or flee he tries to grapple it.

Heh...dice roller has been rolling a lot of 1s for me just on initiative...this is my sixth 1 in a row for initiative across the rpol games I play.


16:30, Today: Vadim tul Mhora rolled 38 using 1d100.  grapple if possible (or necessary).

Bartja is on edge, prepared to grapple as well and watches for the approach of any other Sathar.  He also scans the area for any possible security systems they had not previously deteched.

Desiraye will step towards the door for #16 while the others are occupied with the Sathar youth (yute).

Vadim moves forward while Desi steps toward the sliding door to #16.

Upon Vadim's movement and command, the adolescent screams--half call for help, half panic--but seems too shocked and scared to actually move.

Bartja doesn't see any other security devices. As this seems more of a private chamber, they might be forbidden.

When Desi steps toward the door to 16, the pressure plate opens the door to the room. She realizes this might have been a mistake, since you could have walked around the open door.

Regardless, when the door opens, you see a sort of lounge room. Four Sathar are sitting on couches. Between the opening sliding door and the wail of the "yute" from the bath within, they are jumping up, grabbing their nearby weapons, and looking at where Desi and Bartja stand, most likely intent on quashing this invasion of aliens into their den.

Desi's eyes go wide  as she notices the four [4] Sathar in the couches and getting up.  (If it wasn't already clear it was on) She activates her Albedo Screen and fires two [2] shots (one [1] shot at each Sathar) at the closest Sathar going for their weapons.  This will empty her weapon but, desperate times calls for desperate measures.

Beam Weapons: 6 [DEX:30 + 60 = 90%]

For a moment, Bartja had forgotten they were the hostile aliens in this complex.  He flips on his albedo screen and tries to judge the distance and timing to the four worms, swinging the gyrojet rifle around as he does so.

Vadim turns to the other Sathar briefly, draws his laser pistol, aims and fires at one moving towards a weapon.

Orvo also fires at the nearest of the adult Sathar, emptying his clip.

OOC: At long last, I am back... So sorry for delays.

The four of you open fire at the four Sathar on the couch. Although you stumbled upon the pressure plate automatically opening the door to their lounge area, they are more surprised to see you than you are of them. You get point blank ambush shots, coupled with surprise attacks, while they stumble around for their weapons.

A flash of lasers, gyrojets, and shocked calls of surprise fly through the air. Three of the Sathar are taken down in the first exchange of gunfire. One of them remains untouched as the others begin turning into goo. But before he can turn around and shoot, you fire a second round. Smoke fills the air as he is riddled with laser holes and a gyrojet blast to the chest. He also falls to the ground.

The youth Sathar is stumbling out of the "bath" liquids and runs, slipping and sliding from the gooey bath and his own surprise, to the nearby alarm/intercom buttons.

Vadim moves across towards the small Sathar to tackle/grab it.

Orvo points his laser at the young Sathar but holds off firing to avoid hitting Vadim. "Get him!" he yells with excitement.

Vadim jumps on the young Sathar, succeeding in grappling him. The Sathar is unsuccessful in trying to escape the grapple.

Vadim is now probably the first human to ever hug a Sathar...and a naked one straight out of a bath at that.

The Sathar is struggling and grunting.

"It might not have been conditioned for suicide yet!" Vadim half yells as he struggles with the smaller worm, "Find something to bind it up!"

The Sathar is yelling something that translates in your Vox as "Alien Invaders! Alien monsters!"

Desiraye looks to see if there's something to bind the young Sathar up and secure it from sounding an alarm, of any sorts.  "Knock him out if you have to!"

"Something from your toolkit?  Bonding tape or glue?"

The juvenile Sathar suddenly calms and says, as translated by your Polyvox: "I will cooperate. I am no threat. I thought you were escaped murderers from the prison. I want to..." he pauses, trying to think of the word, as though it is not in the Sathar vocabulary,"...defect. Join you."

Desiraye stops going through her gear looking for something to bind the young Sathar.  "Are you serious?  OK, what's the easiest way to get to these 'murderers' if you want to defect?"

Vadim looks up to Desi from wrestling with the worm and then back uncertainly...looking for some sort of response from the creature.

The Sathar nods at the question. "I will take you straight to them to prove my loyalty," he/she/it says.

"Why do you want to defect?"

Orvo keeps his gun trained on the Sathar but doesn't fire.

"The brain implants," it says. "I don't want one. I don't want to be controlled. Do you? If they catch you, that's what THEY do."

You remember that's what happened to Dr. Eddie Appleburg in this compound, and the brain chip had to be removed. It's also what exploded back on Kraatar ("Dark Side of the Moon" adventure), which was traced back to here. And it was also what controlled Terry and Dr. LeGrange, forcing them to take over your ship (Eleanor Moraes).

You consider the youth's words closely...
