Re: Player's Forum

Hello all.  I look forward to being the resident technical specialist and overly curious pusher of big red buttons marked Do not press.  :)

May I make a suggestion for ability scores?  As I recall, there are four groups of ability scores with each group possessing two different stats.  Perhaps we could be given 200 points to spread between these four groups?

Re: Player's Forum

I think what I will do for ability scores is to give you a base score in each ability, and then give you predetermined "experience points" which you can use to raise abilities and/or choose skills.

Give me a day or two.  I'm also hoping to post the advertisement in Players Wanted as soon as this looks attractive enough.

Re: Player's Forum

There may not be many, if any, portraits for some of the aliens and other Star Frontiers character types.  I certainly wouldn't mind if anyone submitted portraits to the portrait editor in that regard.  If you do, let us all know!

Actually, I did find a handful under Neutral Alien.

Re: Player's Forum

Hello everyone! I'm Xare (pronounced like dare only with z instead of a d). My character is a Yazarian with Biosocial PSA whose main specialty is Environmental. I'm locked, loaded, and ready to analyze some ecosystems.

It's been many years since I've really played SF (not counting one failed PBEM..), but it was the first RPG I ever purchased. Looking forward to a fun game with everyone.

BTW, what PSAs and specialties do we have already? I know we have a doctor <tips hat>?

Re: Player's Forum

Hello everyone, I’m looking forward to this game; it’s been a long time since I have played SF.

I’m Phlan Holst recently returned from an eight-month stint on the Spacefleet Frigate Verity as a marine. I’m the combat guy, it’s my job to deal with the problems that arise from a abundance of red button pushing.

Re: Player's Forum

Although I plan to run through classic modules, starting with Volturnus, I will be making several changes to speed up the game.  I also want to give it more depth.

To add depth, I want to incorporate background.  So please do the following in a PM to me:

(1) If there is anything in your background you would like me to incorporate into the storyline, let me know.

(2) If there are any groups, cults or other entities to which your character belongs or is pursued by, let me know.

(3) If there are any secrets, or if you want your character to have any game secrets, let me know what kind of secrets (e.g. conspiracies, personal information, hidden government agendas).

Cults and groups can be found in Xebulon's Guide.  There are major corporations (and you can make up a good one if you want), the UPF (of course), Silver Death Cult, Free Frontiersmen Foundation (FFF), Anti-Satharian League, Frontier Peace Organization,  Kraatar Liberation Corps, and Investors.  (And maybe more that I create.)

Re: Player's Forum

With the above, if there are any special motivations for the character, also please tell me (money, revenge, etc.).

Re: Player's Forum

Some of the characters I'm getting in have a different ability score for the paired abilities.  At character creation stage, the paired abilities should be the same (so STR/STA, DEX/RS, etc. should be the same).

If there is a reason you believe this should be different, please let me know, but I think this best follows the balancing of the original creation method (in which you roll once for the paired attributes, and racial modifiers apply to both).

Forget this.  I forgot about rule 5 allowing you to modify them after creating them.  Sorry.

Re: Player's Forum

There have been a couple questions about Zebulon's Guide.  Honestly, I never purchased that guide, so I am not as familiar with its rules.  Also, it came out after some of the modules we will be running through.

For these reasons, I want to use it for adding options (such as equipment, races, setting issues), but not for any changes in rules (such as professions and added skills - which don't have a PSA listing, etc.).

So for the official "rules," we will go up to the expanded rules.  (I do have the Knight Hawk rules, but those probably won't come into play in the near future and don't change the main rules anyway.)

I am open to ideas if anyone thinks there might be a better way to do it.  If everyone wants to use Zebulon's Guide for characters, let me know.  I'm not set in my ways, just trying to make it easiest on everyone.
