You head south, curve to the left, and then enter a door to the south again.  You enter a room 30 meters by 30 meters square.  Along the left wall are a large number of shaped crystals that are pulsing with light and perhaps some other form of energy.  There are two doors exiting to the south.  (You are in room 5.)

Bartja approaches the pulsating crystals cautiously.  So far it has become obvious that whatever society this is, or was, they used Crystals for a variety of functions.  They'd already met crystal "robots" defenders but Bartja did not believe these were combat crystals.

"Looks like either a massive computer or maybe a power generator" he muses aloud to his companions.  "If we had time, I'd like to study them further.  So far we've seen that they're used to alter the mind, body, and as weapons.  I can only imagine that the Eorna must have also used them for computers, power plants, and maybe everything else they constructed.  Where we use plastics and metals, I think they used crystals in one form or another."

Frisky says, "What are you talking about?  It's just another corridor.  Let's go see what's at the end of it."  He starts walking around in circles.

Bartja watches Frisky for a few moments, bemused, then calls out to him.  "Hey, come back!"  It appeared these crystal lights were another illusory generator of the same ilk that drove Dulob manic.  They needed to get out of here quickly, before everyone was affected by madness and illusions.

Heading for the first door to the south, Bartja attempts to help Frisky (and anyone else affected) through the doorway.

"I'll bring up the rear," Inta says cheerfully. "If you really want to go first I won't object."  She begins following Frisky around in circles.

Bartja takes the hands of Inta and Frisky to lead them to the south door, but they look apprehensive.

Dulob examines the ground.  "Why are people walking in circles?  Is there a land mine here or something?"

Lerku thanks Desiraye for taking the time to help him with the needler rifle.

"It looks like we're being left behind," Lerku observes.  "I hope they all know where they're going!"

Desiraye gives Lerku a slight smile, "No problem.  We're all in this together right?"

Lerku, seeing the interesting behavior of the folks who freed him from stasis, checks his envirokit for something that might be causing their strange behavior.

OOC: Desi can claim whatever equipment is not already claimed by others.  I will put the list up again.

As you talk, Bartja is leading Inta and Frisky toward the south doors.

Lerku is looking at his envirokit.

OOC: Keep in mind that an envirokit has three parts:

Bioscanner--This device consists of a network of straps and electrodes connected to a readout gauge. When attached to a plant or animal, living or dead, it can determine what type organism is being examined and whether it is edible or poisonous.

Vaporscanner--A vaporscanner is a small device that contains sensitive gas analyzers. It will report on a digital screen what gaseous elements are present, their quantities and whether breathing them is dangerous.

Geoscanner--The geoscanner can break down up to a first-sized sample of rock or soil and analyze it. It will report what minerals the sample contains and whether there are likely to be valuable ore, gas or oil deposits nearby.


I'm assuming Lerku is using the vaporscanner, and it shows nothing unusual or dangerous.

Desi looks over to Bartja, "Bartja!  Now what's wrong?  Are they lost or something?"

Unable to hide his grin, he looks back over his shoulder at Desi and replies, "there's something about these crystals that is warping their minds.  They were starting to walk in circles so I'm trying to get them out of this area.  I think we should all leave this room soon or we all might fall under the effects of these two.

That is unless I'm the one losing my mind, of course."

"Yeah, good idea Bartja.  They're having a hell of a time with these crystals down here," Desi replies back.
