You step into the square area marked "5," and see the tunnels as above.  Looking down at the creature, you see that it appears to be an artificial biological construct of the Sathar, with a flamethrower permanently imbedded in its mouth and that reflective slime to ward off lasers.

Something is slithering from the area marked "B," and you see another of those cyboslugs approaching.

"Oh my, I'm not sure im cut out for this." says the doctor as he takes a step back to let the others do their work, however just in case he raises his pistol again and readies to fire if needed.

Desiraye shoulders her laser rifle and using careful aim fires [1] shot at the slug creature;

While the others deal with the new threat, Lerku again stays at the rear.

Frisky fires the gyrojet at the new threat.

Becka takes a crouching stance that is becoming more comfortable with practice and aims at the creature.

Inta holds her grenade as a last resort.

As the second slug goes down from the laser fire, Bartja is disappointed to note that the Sathar had managed to modify these "slugs" to take reduced damage from lasers.  It was his only "good" weapon and it would prove to be harder to penetrate this obelisk without the firepower of the laser.

He changed his pistols power clip as the group began to move into the maze of slug-tunnels, letting the spent SEU cartridge drop to the ground as he jacks in a fresh 20 SEU clip.

"Professor!" is about all the warning he's able to give as Kri'lik moves in ahead of the group.  When the third flame-throwing slug appears, Bartja is not surprised and he levels his laser pistol, taking two quick shots before diving to cover.

OOC: Sorry for the delays.  Whenever that happens, just assume I had to go out of town...I've got 2 free round trip flights earned on frequent flyer just this month!

A volley of shots emit from the surprised group as the worm-like thing crawls forward.

The gyrojet seems to do the most damage, followed by Becka's laser.

A stream of fire flies from the creature's mouth and into the central area.  Everyone ducks for cover...

...Bartja successfully jumps to the left (west).
...Frisky successfully jumps to the southeast hall.
...Lerku is safely in the rear and is not affected.
...Inta also jumps back...and is hit with a lick of flame (6 dmg) that scorches her legs.  She is still holding onto the grenade, as it would be dangerous to throw it into the hall with everyone there.
...Desiraye is hit by the flames (18 dmg).  She jumps to the southeast hall and begins patting out the flames on her body and clothes.
...Kri'lik is also hit by the flames as he rushes back out of the way toward the north exit (15 dmg).

The time of "last resorts" has come, and it is relatively safe with everyone having jumped out of the way.  Inta lobs her grenade at the creature, and there is a loud explosion, followed by the splattering of worm goo all over the walls.  It is dead.

Desiraye gets the fire put out (with Frisky's help), and suffers no additional damage, although the burns do continue to sting with may second degree burns over her front side, arms, and thighs.  Her eyebrows have also been burnt off, and some of her hair is singed.

Krilik doesn't have quite the same problem.  He gets the fire out quickly, and some of his carapace is blackened now.

Bartja makes his way back to the hallway where he'd dropped his heavy kits when the fighting began.  Picking up his medkit, he hurries back to Deirayes side.

"Do you want to take your clothes off carefully or shall I cut them off?" he asks only half-jokingly.  "To work on those burns I'll need access to healthy flesh or you'll end up healing with some hideous scars.  Nothing plastic surgery couldn't fix later, but how bad do you want to look and feel until we're off-world?"

Frisky, since he is already down the hallway, takes a look to see what's there.

Lerku will peek over Bartja's shoulder to see if he can be of assistance with the medkit.

You start to breathe a sigh of relief now that the worm-thing has died. But before Bartja can offer any medical aid, Frisky spots another of the creatures as it slithers up around the east side (moving from C to G).

Frisky also sees what appears to be an exit to the east, and that the hallway continues south after another room-like opening.  Those who fled to the west see that the corridor extends straight south and then turns sharply east.

Desiraye sits down after she gets the flames out and looks up to Bartja, "Fix them up as best you can.  As long as I can fight for a bit longer.  Guys dig a chick with scars," she jokingly says back to Bartja.

Frisky says, "Run back to the entrance!  Let's lob more grenades at it."  He moves quickly on his Vrusk legs to where Lerku is safely waiting.
